On Monday night, CBSSports.com's Ryan Wilson passed along a report that Randy Moss, currently a free agent, would be working out with the Saints on Tuesday. Some interesting reports have surfaced surrounding Moss since then.

Latest NFL News, Notes

For starters, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Moss has a pair of other tryouts lined up for next week. And more importantly, Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports that Moss "lit it up" in his workout with the Saints.

"Hearing from multiple sources re Randy Moss workout today he lit it up. Was told he ran about 45 routes and 'looked like the old Randy,'" Glazer tweeted on Tuesday afternoon.

If this is accurate, it's fascinating. And not just because no one expected any good news out of New Orleans for a while, hey-o. Moss has already rebounded once in his career from a season where he looked to be finished as an NFL player (in 2006, with the Raiders) to post record numbers the following year (in 2007, with the Patriots).

So it's not unfathomable that he could do the same thing again. Sure, he's several years older and took a year off of football this time. But Moss' game is predicated on speed, and if his speed is back and he's able to torch defensive backs on vertical routes, he's going to draw interest from teams in the NFL.

And even if the reports of Moss performance are being overblown a bit, he should still expect to hear his phone ringing more often in the coming weeks.

Report: Randy Moss 'lit it up' at Saints workout

"Looked like the old Randy": as in the 36 year old Randy, the psycho Randy that led him to sit on the bench of three teams in one season, or the Randy that took plays off when he felt like it when he was on the field?

I would love to see Moss as a Jet and I think he would do meven better then Plaxico Burress.
Dont get me wrong Plax was good last year but I would love Moss down in the Red Zone.
But I think the Jets are going to make a very aggressive offer for Manning so that would mean that R. Wayne would also be a Jet.

If I had to choose I would much rather have Manning and Wayne then adding any oter Free Agents.
If we release Bart Scott or trade him we will have a good amount of Cap space.

The old Randy? Does that mean he jogged down the field on 90% of the plays because he wasn't the "primary" target?

Yea, What did Randy Dandy light up??? El Kronic?? Na but we all know how Randy can play when he wants to play and, New Orleans would be a perfect fit for him . Saying that it should put the Saints as the front runners to win it all next year!! More weapons no pun intended should mean more pts for the best offence in the league!!

Remember when Moss almost ran over that female rent-a-cop in the Viking's parking lot? He kept driving forward real slow and nudged her a few times. He was arrested and fined.

Reporter: Randy, how do you feel about having to write a check for that fine?
Randy: I don't write checks.
Reporter: Then how do you pay?
Randy: Straight cash, homey!

Report: Randy Moss 'lit it up' at Saints workout

Does anyone really think this is nothing more than a ploy to distract people from BountyGate? Running routes is one thing. Running routes against much younger corners and safeties at game speed is completely another. I doubt that this is much of a good news for the Aints. In fact, I hope it's not. Hard to root for a team that runs up the score on other teams and pays players to injure other players.
