Payton, Loomis take 'full responsibility'

Sean Payton and Mickey Loomis have promised never to allow a bounty program in their organization again. (US Presswire)
By Josh Katzowitz

Since the Saints bounty program news broke last Friday, New Orleans coach Sean Payton and general manager Mickey Loomis have not commented. On late Tuesday  afternoon, they broke their silence, releasing a joint statement through the Saints PR department.

Basically, Payton and Loomis are taking full responsibility.

Here is the statement:
We acknowledge that the violations disclosed by the NFL during their investigation of our club happened under our watch. We take full responsibility.

This has brought undue hardship on Mr. (Tom) Benson, who had nothing to do with this activity. He has been nothing but supportive and for that we both apologize to him.

These are serious violations and we understand the negative impact it has had on our game. Both of us have made it clear within our organization that this will never happen again, and make that same promise to the NFL and most importantly to all of our fans.

Mickey Loomis & Sean Payton

You’ll recall that Gregg Williams also apologized in a statement last week, saying, “I want to express my sincere regret and apology to the NFL, Mr. Benson, and the New Orleans Saints fans for my participation in the 'pay for performance' program while I was with the Saints. It was a terrible mistake, and we knew it was wrong while we were doing it. Instead of getting caught up in it, I should have stopped it. I take full responsibility for my role. I am truly sorry. I have learned a hard lesson and I guarantee that I will never participate in or allow this kind of activity to happen again.”

It is interesting, though, that the only person to whom they apologize is Benson. Not to Roger Goodell or the fans or the players that might have been physically hurt by the bounties.

I hope they take all the blame, either way, it will still fall down on the other players themselves, eventually.  But, it serves no purpose for them to apologise anymore, they were still lieing and have been caught.  All the guilty people should end up "out of Football forever"!  Its going to be interesting who gets what when the punishments are dished out.  Some may seem more lax than others and some may even be too harsh but, one things for certain - fingers will be spanked.
I think its funny how Gregg Williams says, he's sorry.  Just like that was written in text, it will not mean a thing.  Anytime, you say it was a mistake, thats wrong and its a warning of deception.  He knew what he was doing and so did everybody else and, I mean everybody else.
Fines, suspensions, bans and above all else,....shame will be bestowed upon the Saints.

Now there is a brilliant comeback from the brees lover...  I'm just kickin' back enjoying the biggest scandal in sports history that your team created for themselves.  And here you are, spitting in the face of any poster who tried to post their comments (which were my personal opinions without attacking anyone personally).  Then you saints fans showed your class and got personal.  I suggest you may have picked a personal fight with the wrong guy and I ain't puttin' up with your insults when you don't know me from adam bruh...
The only guy I feel sorry for is Brees.  I think he is a good man.  Your team is too stupid to pay the man but I bet they wise up soon.
He may not even want to come back at this stage tho...  He basically singlehandedley brought the bagheads back from losing the franchise to another city... Nobody is crying over here Brees4mvp, all of us not affiliated with the saints have no reason to cry.  We're just spectators watching the saints self-destruct...  Dont blame us man, blame Payton and Williams and Loomis.  they may just fit into one big diaper cuz they stink like he!!... as far as  the bottle, stick it where the sun dont shine homey...

Reality is still setting in for you ain't it brees4mvp...  You're wasting your time whining on here dude.  I stand by every word I said.  What a joke you dumba$$.  Figure skating?  I think you like other men bro...  I think you're also a cross-dresser who hangs out on Bourbon with all the other sissies...  go get yourself a toothpick and skewer some of those leftover big-chunks from the leftover vomit in the quarter...  you dont know jack about football and I am calling you a feminine, little coward to your face.  I think your one of those puzzies who tried to come out for football and got their azz planted in the dirt every play.  I know one thing bro, you can spew whatever horse maneur you want, but never has the stones to do any of it in person.  Whatever teeth you have left would be knocked back into your thick skull you cheerleader.  Pick your pom poms up and go back to nawlins and take your medicine like a good little boy.  When nicks is gone, your hero breezy boy is gonna get body slammed on the carpet and like it.  And when you lose him, your team aint even average.  I hope they take your 2nd & 3rd this year, and next years 1st... Tell Payton to get rid of that gay-ass visor too.  He reminds me of this buttbuddy who coached at Florida and is now at s. carolina... The turd is about still foating down the mississippi and will be landing soon at a saints neighborhood near you bigmouth.  Most of us fans will be laughing fool...

have a clue hardcore69.  You make all kinds of assumptions which is indicitive of how good you are at avoiding the factual truth.  Wake up man!!  Reread my long comments and let me know what is untruthful. If you cant handle the facts then tough...  Until, and only until other teams are PROVEN to have paid players to eliminate other players by way of injury, then you are free to include them in the same sewer as the saints.  I played football, baseball and basketball and started in all 3 sports you dummy!!!  I dont appreciate taking a tongue lashing by you, a coward running from the truth.  For the record, I can't stand this sissification of the nfl... In fact I despise it at a level that makes me sick to my stomach.  So dont preach to me you punk.  Who are you??  You lose, your team loses, and your cesspool city loses.  I wouldn't be surprised if you work as a dancer at one of the those low-life, transvestite clubs on bourbon... Go drag your azz back to LA, and finish meeting your gator-tag quota you toothless sissyboy... Join your other brother on here and use his Kleenex to wipe your tears when the turd finally floats all the way down the mighty mississippi and lands in nawlins (corruption-land-usa)... You ain't fooling anyone jack, your a pencil neck geek who likes to pretend he's a tuff guy on the boards... get real man...

Hashbrown31... you sound like the biggest crybaby ever on this site.  Go watch figure skating, Lifetime for Women or some Nature documentary.  Get off this site... This site is for men (and women) who like professional football.  You obviously don't understand the game of football, and are more concerned about crying for no good reason.  Why do you care?  If you are from Houston, then please tell me what this had to do with you... NOTHING.  Now go get your kleenex.

No, Brees4mvp, hang on to your kleenex, ur gonna need em in a few weeks garbage mouth...  Reread my post, apparantly the truth just seered your soul with truth and thus your comments in reply.  For the record, I live in Houston dummy.  I couldn't care less about the Vikes but i can guarantee you one thing... Here is another comment I will make just for you and your ex-media darling saints:

Its vividly clear now that the Saints organization has lowered the bar when it comes to integrity, and personal character!!!  Even given the opportunity to clean up their act, arrogance kept them from doing so...  Even in light of what Kurt Warner and Brett Favre now know, they have the personal character to stay away from poking their fingers into the eyes of the saints organization.  That is called class.  Something the Saints players and coaches know nothing about.  Speaking about setting the bar and using it as a benchmark for character, I would suggest that the saints have established themselves on the lowest bar setting...  That setting is now set in Nawlins just below sea-level... perfect fit for Louisiana who has always been the standard for corruption in America, now it looks like it has permeated into its nfl football program...  If you want to reply, dont waste your time, you're better served setting up an appointment with Mister Benson.  Perhaps he might better explain his inability to follow up and quell this activity with his GM and head coach... BTW, I hear Wal-Mart is having a sale on kleenex tissue... stock up bruh...
