Sean Payton and Mickey Loomis have promised never to allow a bounty program in their organization again. (US Presswire)
By Josh Katzowitz

Since the Saints bounty program news broke last Friday, New Orleans coach Sean Payton and general manager Mickey Loomis have not commented. On late Tuesday  afternoon, they broke their silence, releasing a joint statement through the Saints PR department.

Basically, Payton and Loomis are taking full responsibility.

Here is the statement:
We acknowledge that the violations disclosed by the NFL during their investigation of our club happened under our watch. We take full responsibility.

This has brought undue hardship on Mr. (Tom) Benson, who had nothing to do with this activity. He has been nothing but supportive and for that we both apologize to him.

These are serious violations and we understand the negative impact it has had on our game. Both of us have made it clear within our organization that this will never happen again, and make that same promise to the NFL and most importantly to all of our fans.

Mickey Loomis & Sean Payton

You’ll recall that Gregg Williams also apologized in a statement last week, saying, “I want to express my sincere regret and apology to the NFL, Mr. Benson, and the New Orleans Saints fans for my participation in the 'pay for performance' program while I was with the Saints. It was a terrible mistake, and we knew it was wrong while we were doing it. Instead of getting caught up in it, I should have stopped it. I take full responsibility for my role. I am truly sorry. I have learned a hard lesson and I guarantee that I will never participate in or allow this kind of activity to happen again.”

It is interesting, though, that the only person to whom they apologize is Benson. Not to Roger Goodell or the fans or the players that might have been physically hurt by the bounties.

Brees, its too bad you have to resort to unmentionable sarcasim and ridicule.  Did I just steal away your "All Star level"?  >~ LOL ~< Its sad when you know you just got caught stealing cookies outta the cookie jar and have to accept the punishment coming your way, isn't it?
Face it, there is no way you or any of your Saint fans can innocently proclaim any type of PR to save those sold souls who had to cheat.  Really, go look at that game again sometime and see for yourself.  Even though you have tunnel vision blinded by the "real facts" you just need to take the bite in the a$$ and admit it to yourself so you can move on in life - ok?

The turnovers were errelivent, the Vikings still controled the game.  The Saints time on the Vikings side of the field was evident they were out of control and the only way they got across was due to phantom penalty calls.

Brees,......your words are what they are,..."words".  Nothing personal to you, but, face the facts - period, your team was clearly defeated and it was obvious to the naked eye from start to finish, the Referee's in the game helped the Saints win.

Some facts that the Vikings suck and choked against the Saints in the NFC Championship game??? How about 5 turnovers for Minnesota... 3 fumbles and 2 interceptions.  How about 6 fumbles total by Minnesota but the only lost 3.  "It was the bounty" or "it was the refs" won't fly to any intelligent sports fan.  So ALL VIKING WHINERS... read this post.  THIS IS WHY THE VIKINGS LOST.  p.s.- they suck and ALWAYS lose big games.  Now shut up, and bring out your twins t- shirts.  Vikings suck!!

Kinda ironic here, I just stripped away all the Pride & Glory from these Aints fans, up close & personal!  Once a cheater, always a cheater.  Once you get stuck in the rut of cheating, you know nothing other than to cheat to regain that edge once again.  Go forthe our Saints and try to look so innocent again.
If the NFL don't strip their SB win away, then they should just eliminate the team and kick them out of the league altogether.

First of all, the Saints were NOT the better team, they had help on their side with the Referee's in that Champioship game. The Vikings beat the Saints in every single aspect of that game and, it would have been a lot worse for the Saints than you could have imagined if the Ref.'s let a couple teams play the game the way its supposed to be played - period!  If it wasn't for the Referee's turning a blind eye in the Aints favor, they would have been totally destroyed by that Vikings team and,...they would have also beaten the Colts without anymore of a problem than the Saints should have been.  Face the facts, the Vikings were the better team, they didn't have to play dirty and, they kept penaltiy's to a minimum for a reason.  When you see phantom flags thrown and it even surprises the other team, thats a given the Ref.s are obviously helping another team win a game.  Watch and see, the Referee's will be investigated in due time.  You can visually see a Referee standing in the back ground when Favre was hit high & low and when he suffered from late hits he took after the pass.  The Offensive Line were holding the Vikings pass rushers and, that was also visually seen in live time. Face the facts, the obvious facts the Saints cheated to win - period, and,......they had help doing it too.  Now since all you sniveling Saints fans can take it for what its worth, your entire team is a joke!!!

Here we go again!!  Some team gets caught paying their players for trying to take a teams starting player out.  Do we really think this is new?  This has been happening as long as I have been watching AFL/NFL play the last 50 years.  There are players that have this type of plan every game and they are doing it for FREE.  Do you actual think Ray Lewis is telling his players in the huddle that they should not try to punish a particular ball carrier or QB on the next play?  Come on fella's, get your head out in the sun.  I wonder if Dick Butkas, Ray Nitchski, Jack Lambert were saying to themselves, "I want to not hit this guy to hard, I want him to be able to come back through my gap and run 75 yds to paydirt on the next play. Its football guys not badminton.  Now we will have all the world saying that every good hit on an opposing player, when it happens, is for the money.  Of course it is, thats what they get payed to do.  ITS TACKLE FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!!! The last I checked no one was forced to play the game, they play of their own choice.
