Manning flies to South Florida after exit in Indy

Don't worry, potential suitors, he has a condo in Florida. (CBS Miami's Facebook page)

By Ryan Wilson

It's been a busy day for Peyton Manning, formerly of the Indianapolis Colts. He and Colts owner Jim Irsay held a joint press conference at noon Wednesday to announce that, after 14 years, the team and its longtime franchise quarterback were parting ways. It was an emotional scene.

But time, as they say, waits for no man. So while Indianapolis continues to remake a franchise that was wildly successful during the Manning era, the franchise's former quarterback contemplates his future. (Even though he said during the press conference that “I haven’t thought about where I’ll play," we're guessing he has.) Which might explain this bit of news: according to CBS Miami, Manning arrived in South Florida via private jet Wednesday afternoon.

"FYI, Peyton Manning is on the ground, he landed at Opa-Locka Airport and just got off his plane just before 4:30 p.m.," CBS Miami posted on its Facebook page. "Not likely to sign today, he owns a condo down here."

The Cardinals organization is collectively having heart palpitations at the news, even if Manning signing with the Dolphins isn't imminent. If nothing else, it gives Manning negotiating leverage when the Cards, Fins, Redskins, Seahawks and other potential suitors queue up to bid for his services (and we still don't know if and when he'll be back to his pre-multiple-neck-surgeries form).

CBS 4 caught up with Manning in a parking lot where he had stopped to speak to reporters. "It was tough for me," he said of leaving the Colts and becoming a free agent. "It was really hard, but now I realize that process has to start. I haven't thought about teams ... It's all new to me."

Inevitably, Manning was asked about his interest in the Dolphins (he's in South Florida, after all).

"The Miami Dolphins have a great organization there," he said before reiterating that he has no idea which teams are interested in him or how this process works. "I truly missed just playing quarterback this year. ... I realize I'm not gonna play forever, and I think I'm gonna know the time to stop playing."

Yes, Wednesday was the end of an era in Indy, but we shouldn't feel sorry for Peyton just yet.

Peyton Manning's run as quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts ended Wednesday, when owner Jim Irsay announced the team would release its best player. Manning said his emotional goodbye to the team, the fans and the city of Indianapolis.

Maybe the New York Giants!?!?!?

Where have you been Sweet Lou?  Did you not watch any of the latest NFL season where Eli Manning formalized his membership in the Elite QB's club with his 2nd Superbowl MVP/Victory?

If Manning really wants to go to a team that is in need of a QB and is very close to win a Super Bowl, its San Fran. I dont see it happening though because Harbaugh is a coach that wants control of everything.  Their are only 3-4 teams that don't need a healthy Manning. They are New England, New Orleans, Green Bay, and maybe the New York Giants. Every other team would benefit from having Manning. If healthy.

Manning flies to South Florida after exit in Indy

As of this morning, it was reported that there are 12 teams chasing Manning. This man can pick and choose wherever he wants to go. After being a dome QB I doubt for his entire career, where he reacked up enourmous numbers, I doubt if he would pick the Jests. I fact of 12 teams they would rank 13 in his eyes. Peyton will play for Miami this season. At least half his games will be warm and cozy like the weather he is used to. When he does select them, they will become an instant favorite to dethrone the Patriots in the AFC East. Next to Tebow, he is the media darling of the press, and they will brag on every move he makes all season. I am a die hard Patriots and Tom Brady fan, but Peyton deserves all the credit in the world for his abilities and especially his class.

Youre an absolute simpleton.  The Cards and Seahawks are a QB away from sending the 49ers back to the cellar?  That is humorous to say the least. You left out the fact that the 49ers allowed an average of 10.6 ppg from weeks 1-17.  They played 4 playoff teams during the regular season dismissing the "they havent played anyone" stupidity that everyone goes to immediately.  They beat three of those teams.  Hate it or love it, that team has a permanent spot at the top for at least the next few years.  All the reasons they need to strike while the iron is hot.

Wiskur, I agree 100% !! Why not go to the Chiefs. Man, the weapons we have right now. If only right?  If we got Manning, Wayne came along for the ride, our offense would be awesome with the addition of Charles back from injury.
You do realize you named 2 guys who aren't even on the roster and a third coming off a year ending knee injury whom you have no idea how he will fair in 2012 right?  Of course you realize that but Dwayne Bowe is on line 2, he wants to know why you didn't mention him and not some guy with a knee as tough as cooked angle hair pasta.  Besides, think about it, if you have the chance to go to a warm weather spot like Miami or Arizona why on earth would you go to Kansas City or Seattle.  All kidding aside, who knows, where he ends up but most seem to be talking about Miami.

What is he suppose to say about the Dolphins organization?  "Uh, yeah, the Dolphins. They're the team with a GM no one likes and should have been fired last year with Sparano.  They're the team whose fan base disguises themselves as orange seats.  They're the team that the owner said Henne could be better than Marino and where red carpet treatment is designed for Gloria Estefan, not the players on the field."  Miami fans are so starved for a superstar they'll buy whatever line you write or story you sell.  SoFla is an event town.  Fans come out only when something B I G happens.  Perhaps Peyton is that event but even he knows the gaping holes on the right side of the line and very limited playmakers are reasons that won't get him another Super Bowl.  Sorry, but the 305 and 954 folk will have to continue to dreamily lust for next years draft.

The draft could then be focused on defense and maybe a little more talent on the offensive line. We could be the biggest threat by far in the division!! And like you said, nobody has even mentioned the Chiefs during this whole mess! I guess the Chiefs are just so used to getting so-so players through FA and trades and trying to build through the drafts that they totally forgot what it's like to want to be a championship caliber team! Come on KC, wake up and get yourself a real QB! It worked with Joe Montana.

Peyton Manning flies to South Florida Wednesday

Are you kidding me?  You had someone stake out a south Florida airport to get a long distance photograph as proof that Manning had gone there?  I couldn't believe my eyes when I called up this article and this picture came up,  This website is becoming the equivalent of one of those gossip rags at the grocery store checkout counter.
