Don't worry, potential suitors, he has a condo in Florida. (CBS Miami's Facebook page)

By Ryan Wilson

It's been a busy day for Peyton Manning, formerly of the Indianapolis Colts. He and Colts owner Jim Irsay held a joint press conference at noon Wednesday to announce that, after 14 years, the team and its longtime franchise quarterback were parting ways. It was an emotional scene.

But time, as they say, waits for no man. So while Indianapolis continues to remake a franchise that was wildly successful during the Manning era, the franchise's former quarterback contemplates his future. (Even though he said during the press conference that “I haven’t thought about where I’ll play," we're guessing he has.) Which might explain this bit of news: according to CBS Miami, Manning arrived in South Florida via private jet Wednesday afternoon.

"FYI, Peyton Manning is on the ground, he landed at Opa-Locka Airport and just got off his plane just before 4:30 p.m.," CBS Miami posted on its Facebook page. "Not likely to sign today, he owns a condo down here."

The Cardinals organization is collectively having heart palpitations at the news, even if Manning signing with the Dolphins isn't imminent. If nothing else, it gives Manning negotiating leverage when the Cards, Fins, Redskins, Seahawks and other potential suitors queue up to bid for his services (and we still don't know if and when he'll be back to his pre-multiple-neck-surgeries form).

CBS 4 caught up with Manning in a parking lot where he had stopped to speak to reporters. "It was tough for me," he said of leaving the Colts and becoming a free agent. "It was really hard, but now I realize that process has to start. I haven't thought about teams ... It's all new to me."

Inevitably, Manning was asked about his interest in the Dolphins (he's in South Florida, after all).

"The Miami Dolphins have a great organization there," he said before reiterating that he has no idea which teams are interested in him or how this process works. "I truly missed just playing quarterback this year. ... I realize I'm not gonna play forever, and I think I'm gonna know the time to stop playing."

Yes, Wednesday was the end of an era in Indy, but we shouldn't feel sorry for Peyton just yet.

Peyton Manning's run as quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts ended Wednesday, when owner Jim Irsay announced the team would release its best player. Manning said his emotional goodbye to the team, the fans and the city of Indianapolis.

Peyton Manning flies to South Florida Wednesday

This is sad for real. Reminds me of OJ...we go from following a white Bronco to following a white Lear jet. The man is stressed and wants to go to his condo in Florida, let him be.

Peyton Manning flies to South Florida Wednesday

I heard somewhere that there is a deadline for Manning to make up his mind by 3/14 is that true or can he play this out all the way through the draft, and pre-season?  I will admit I'm not sure exactly how the nfl FA rules work and ok I gotta admit I'm already tired of watching DC, Miami, etc fans say he's coming here no he's here we're the best fit no we its going to make payton choose any when does he have to decide where he's going and or what he's signing for?

Peyton Manning flies to South Florida Wednesday

Washington doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of getting Manning.  He's 36 years old and he's not going to a team like Washington that is years away from contending for a Super Bowl.

He's going to Miami because Miami has a good offensive line, a decent running game, Brandon Marshall, and a good defense.  Manning has a condo in Miami (which tells you he likes it there), Reggie Wayne is from Miami and wants to play with Manning, and Miami would be a viable playoff contender with Manning at the helm.

He's going to it!

Manning to DC...why?  Everyone else will make an offer, Snyder will ask him what he wants.  Sign Wayne? Done.  Garcon? No problem.  Saturday?  Sign him Sunday.  Need garaunteed cash?  Got plenty.  Field turf at FedEx instead of grass?  We'll install it next week.  My pont is. Washington has the resources that no other team will have.  40+ million in cap space for FA aquisitions, a full completment of draft choices this year and next, a re-tooled younger roster that has been 70% overhauled in 2 years of Shanahan/Allen control.  Of all the teams mentioned in the Manning Sweepstakes, Mike Shanahan is the only HC that has rings, and he would really like to have a MVP calibre QB to push for a third.  Washington is much closer to being a playoff team than many will suggest, only a QB away.... playing in the NFC East against his brother twice a year.  C'mon Peyton, come to DC and right the wrong that was fellow Vol Heath Shuler!

If Payton went to Arizona, he could be back in the SuperBowl in 2 years, just like Kurt Warner did.

I'm somewhat offended that almost NO ONE is talking about the possibility of Manning ending up with the Chiefs.  I know people around the country don't pay attention to the midwest, but the Chiefs have a TON of cap space due to Pioli's cheapness in recent years, and imo we're a good QB away from being a contender.  This team won 7 games last year with Matt Cassel, Tyler "what am I doing in the NFL" Palko, and Kyle Orton.  We're strong on D, have weapons on offense, our offensive line isn't as bad as Cassel has made it look, we have the cap room, we play in a cake-walk division for an elite QB...tell me where this wouldn't make sense?  Whether or not Pioli would pursue it or not is another issue though.

I hope and wish Peyton all the best wherever he decide's to play. I am a Peyton Manning fan and will be a fan of his new team. I know what the Colts were before he arrived here and I know what they were last year without him. I understand the "rebuilding" process but to me Peyton would have been the perfect piece to keep during this process, He was the de-facto coach on the field and his natural leadership would have been a huge asset in the "rebuilding" process. I don't agree with what's happened but I hope Andrew Luck "if thats who Indy is going to take" can live up to the looooong successful shadow Peyton has left behind.

Peyton Manning flies to South Florida Wednesday

If he's truly healthy and has been cleared to play, and he wants to play, then he should play!  It's tiring listening to fans drone on about his legacy, what they think he should do, etc.  He's not done.  He wants to play football.  He should play as long as he is healthy and productive!  He has the rest of his life to sit on a beach... When someone is as competitive as Peyton Manning, you can't expect him to just walk away... That's why he's Peyton Manning!  He doesn't have anything to prove to you, or to me- he's the type of person that will always challenge himself.  I say 'good luck, Peyton!"  You will always be a Colt, and you are a class act- the way he handled this situation was perfect- Some team is going to be very lucky to have # 18 next suited up next fall...

Peyton Manning flies to South Florida Wednesday

I've been to Miami and don't understand why it gets so much love
But San Antonio... now THAT's probably where Peyton wishes there was an NFL team.  It's fine if South Florida isn't for you.  You don't have to make that choice.  But Manning obviously likes it down here since he already owns a condo and it was his first stop immediately after his release from Indy.  Not sure how your opinion of the Magic City has any impact on what Manning will decide.  He'll make his decision based on football, money and length of contract.  Location doesn't really matter to a pro athlete who can travel to/live just about anywhere he wants in the offseason and upon retirment.
