Great win for the Lions! The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a good team, maybe even a playoff team. To hold the Buccaneer's duo of Josh Freeman and Mike Williams to one touchdown pass and catch is impressive. Some people predict Mike Williams to make the Pro Bowl this year. The win proves how essential a good front four on defense is. The only thing the Buccaneers could do is try to throw, which they had some success with Freeman completing 65% of his passes for an average of a little over 9 yards per reception. However, with the Lions potent offense, teams will need to be able to rush the ball to keep them of the feild and the Buccaneers couldn't do that, rushing 16 times for 56 yards(3.5 yrd/rush average). The Lions offense looked great, not enough can be said about the importance of Matthew Stafford. Stafford went 24 for 33 for 305 yards and 3 touchdowns. His only mishap came on a deflected pass that ended up being intercepted. Jahvid Best looked sharp rushing for 72 yards on 21 attempts averaging 3.4 per carry. It doesn't take algebra to make the point that with these stats, defenses will have to stay honest and stop the run. It's early but a 1-0 start looks good. Pair that with 4 consecutive wins to end the 2010 season, and a strong 4-0 preseason, it's easy to see why the band wagon fans are back. Just a note: the band wagoners usually are the ones predicting big things for this team, while real Lions fans take the season, "One week at a time."
