INDIANAPOLIS -- The NFL players union does plan to decertify next week, has confirmed with a variety of sources. But that is only part of the news.

Next week numerous NFL players will be at the union headquarters in Washington, D.C. as a sort of high profile union gathering. Players are expected to come into Washington from all across the country.

There are both practical and emotional reasons for this. If a deal is struck before the CBA expires on Thursday the union needs its executive members in town to ratify it. But since the chances of an agreement being reached are same as "Road House 3" being made the players will mostly come to Washington as a sort of union rally.

The union can present these players to the media once mediation, well, fails to broach a deal. The union hopes to humanize their fight. It's actually a smart strategy.

You could easily have faces like quarterback Drew Brees speaking for the union cause daily much of next week.

Both sides will resume mediation on Tuesday.

Player summit planned in D.C.

You guys are all idiots...Were do you think the owners get all this money in the 1st place....It comes from us for the most part. All that crap we watch and buy off of all those commercials we have to watch that the TV Networks use comes from us, the rest of it comes from those $10 beers and tickets we buy going to the games....All that crap cost more everytime these players want a bigger piece of the PIE!!!

The Players don't have any idea what there doing to the game or us for that matter, they brought in a lawyer to lead them and he has no idea or care for the NFL or it's game or it's players...All he knows how to do is be a Lawyer!! and that means he know how to screw everyone he knows out of there money cause thats what Lawyers Do!!!

Player summit planned in D.C.

I went to an Eagles concert at Busch stadium in St Louis.  I casually ordered a Bud Light from a Vendor.  He asked for $10 for the beer.  I walked away giggling about this sports/entertainment industry.  I had a pint of Seagrams stuffed into my sock.

Player summit planned in D.C.

Here's to the players finally realizing how short changed they have been!  Just please don't forget about helping the former players a whole lot more than they ever did!
i know it's a bunch of rich people battling over the big pie, but the N.F.L. has had a sweet deal for so long.  Stand strong guys!  Learn from your baseball brethren!
