Congressional officials have been applying a steady stream of pressure to the union to bend on HGH testing. The union believes there needs to be more information and safeguards inserted into testing protocols while the NFL believes testing is ready to start now.

Well, Congress has launched another salvo. This time a group of doctors turned Congressional officials have wriiten a letter to the union and NFL urging them to end their HGH impasse. You can read the letter here.

Will this work? I don't know. The union is convinced there needs to be more research done and I'm not sure they will budge.

So the HGH impasse will likely continue.

Horrible.  these people are dopes. There is not ONE long term study that shows that steroids and/or HGH use can kill you. Did you know more people die from aspirin each year?  While we are at it we KNOW that tobacco kills but where is the outcry for stopping use of this?  You can save millions and these people are concerned with saving a few.

as if....

The players must know that as soon as their use of steroids and HGH among other things is exposed, then they'll have to take some responsibility for all of the resulting diseases and early deaths  that are caused by being a football player. The hits are tremendous, the damage to a body worse than I could personally bear, and the drugs they take? I wouldnt even touch them no matter how badly I wanted to be a bigger, faster, stronger athlete. So today, I earn my money like most of the rest of America, watch the guys who were willing to gamble with their health in order to be bigger, faster, stronger. The sooner the NFL stops the drug infused athlete from dominating, the better. Maybe before the start of next season.

Congress SHOULD be involved because the NFL has not done enough on their own to stop HGH use in NFL players.   This is much like MLB not doing enough on their own to stop steroid use in its players before Congress stepped in to highlight their problem.  If the NFL wants to be independent and solves its own problems, than they should take action now and stop pretending there is no problem.  I haven't heard much news on HGH in the NFL from the media over the last couple months.  The media seems to be more interested in Tim Tebow's successes than they are on HGH in the NFL.  That's a problem because bigger issues, like HGH use in the NFL, are being brushed under the carpet like its no big deal.  It is a big deal when it comes to the ingetrity of football and the NFL.

Congress once again is entering into the sports world, where it has no business what so ever.

Please congress solve the nations problems, get the hell out of sports and other things that don’t concern you.

Stop Obama from spending money we don’t have. Find a way to reduce the amount we as a nation owe so we would have or increase our credit  rating.

Give the military the pay raise they deserve to include the retired military members that have served.

Agreed, also once again Congress, who are rich themselves and firmly in the pocket of the ultra rich, are busy interfering in favor of their buddies.  Everyone in congress is worth at least $1M a year.  Most of the players in the NFL actually don't make that much, you only hear about the top earners.  That is part of the reason they are at best just out of touch with the rest of us, but more likely, they are wilfully just screwing over the rest of us.

Your only real choice is at least voting for someone like Ron Paul, who probably won't be able to do anything and will likely be killed either before he takes office or within a few months.  But at least he will try, and at least you can honestly say you did something, however little, to try and fix things.

As long as there are players that will sue the NFL over things like head trauma that they knew before they played the game was possable then the NFL and congress have a duty to try and protect these players from themselves. The lawsuits cost the taxpayer more then congress getting involved now, the illegal use of HGH by players has to be curtailed one way or the other.
