I'm flying down to Florida this weekend for a college basketball retreat of sorts.

My bosses from will be there.

So will my new colleague, Jeff Goodman.

Since it was announced a few weeks back that Jeff is leaving for, lots of folks have asked what it means for me and, specifically, whether it's an indication that I'm going elsewhere. In short, absolutely not. The truth is that I campaigned for this. I lobbied my bosses to make Jeff an offer, then lobbied Jeff to accept it because though we clown each other on Twitter often, this is the guy I've always wanted to work with.

Nobody is more connected in college basketball.

Nobody breaks more stories.

Jeff's presence is going to allow me to think bigger, force me to work harder and enhance our site tremendously. As you know, we added four college basketball bloggers during the season; now we're adding another college basketball columnist. And though this still doesn't make us the biggest staff in America, what it does is put us in a position to really make the kind of impact I've always wanted us to make. Together, we'll work on big-picture stuff and investigative stuff. Together, we'll break news and have interesting opinions. So I hope the readers who have helped me feel welcome and relevant since I took this job nearly five years ago are as excited about Jeff's arrival as I am about Jeff's arrival. Either way, we'll check in from Florida over the weekend and, at the very least, Tweet pictures of sand and boats and beer bottles. And maybe, just maybe, we'll get that Penn State coach hired, too.
