Give me your thoughts on Hockey!

Give me your thoughts on the free agency market in the NHL. My beloved Red Wings picked up Marian Hossa and Conklin from Pittsburgh. They also resigned Brad Stuart to a new 4 year contract so he can continue to play next to his partner in crime Kronwall. This years Red Wings should be fun to watch again with the new additions as well as keeping the rest of the team intact.

Also, have any of your players of your favorite teams taken them to salary arbitration? Valeri Fillpula has in the Red Wings camp. I feel he should follow suit and go for a repeat. Surely his $850,000 from last year hasn't been spent.

Just give me any hockey you want,  as this will help me pass the time until football starts and then the NHL!

I can't wait! How about you?

Give me your thoughts on Hockey!

Hey thanks for posting Madtanker. I like the Bruins in the east but they need to make some major moves to the future and get the B's back to the caliber they once were. As far as Hossa did their plan work to get fans to buy tickets? Congrats on the season opener in Phoenix. So their short lived success after they moved to Phoenix was not enough to keep the fans fired up and supporting of the Coyotes? I hope they get back to their winning ways for you Madtanker. Thanks again for posting and come on let's drop the puck already!

I'm a Bruins fan from way back but i just don't see us going anywhere with the onwer that we have. The new GM is trying to do what he can but its not going to be enough. They tried to make us fans believe that they were going to make a run at Hossa before he went to your Red Wings, Wingnut, but we all know that was just a ruse to get the fans into buying tickets. I live in phoenix now and have to say at least the Coyotes organization is trying but they just don't have a rabid fan base out here. Oh well the season will be here soon enough and i will be at the Coyotes home opener against the Blue Jackets. Later...

Great to see you Norby! I'm ready for some hockey now. I agree with the age thing but I'm like you we should still have a good 5-7 years and by then the successors should be well groomed and ready to keep the Red Wings on top. Our front office is unbeatable. Keep me posted on the prospect and fall camp. Go Red Wings!

I am getting excited for the season to begin. I live up in Traverse City so i get to see the Red Wings prospect and fall camp. Only a few weeks away! I will be keeping a close eye on our young kids. Some of the vets are really getting up there in years and its almost time for some shoes to be filled. should be a fun to watch for the next 5-7 years

Hey Smitty! I agree your Habs took a step forward with the addition of a credible player in Alex Tanguay. That sounds like a start of a potent second line. I'm so ready for Hockey! For now though football can start like tomorrow. LOL.

Thanks for posting Smitty!

As an advide Habs fan I have to say that we may have taken a little step forward this year with the pickup at the draft of Alex Tanguay.  He will give the team a little more credibility on the second line and finally give Koivu someone to play with.  Also with the up and comers on the point we will be set for years to come.  As for the overall winner at or after the draft besides Tampa with the Stamcos pick, I would have to say that yes Detroit did very well with the Hossa signing.  He will be very dinamic for the Wings and post a 100 pt season this year.  Also go Bears go....   ya baby.....

ISC I like rooting for The B's in the East. They do need a lethal scorer on one of their top 2 lines. They are just one scorer away along with some key defensive personel (long term) from not being overlooked anymore. I like the grit they showed against the Canadians in the playoffs. There is promise in Boston but it's going to take the current owner changing his ways or start over with a new one and get back to like you put it, "the old days". I wish you the best my friend. Thanks for posting.

Give me your thoughts on Hockey!

Slapshot thanks for the post. My brother is an Avs fan so you can imagine the fun we've had over the years. His thoughts are almost identical to yours on the keeper situation. Budaj has the potential to be a number 1 goaltender but time will tell. Darcy Tucker I feel was a nice pickup to. Great grind player. Hopefully for your sake Svatos will stay injury free. I think the Avs will be in the playoffs again as well. I think they will use this year as the motivation for next year. Remember the Wings run to the Cup was a solid 3 year process. An early exit against Edmonton, then going down to the Ducks in the conference finals last year. This playoffs they came together as a team. I feel their terrible February with all the injuries only made them stronger and better prepared for the playoffs. Franzen was unbelievable. Thanks for the comment on the Wings being the class of the NHL at this time. I agree. Best of luck to you slapshot and the Avs. Thanks again for the post.
