Wrestling Update 02-15-09

We had another good weekend of wrestling at our home tournament The Jim Bennett Classic. My oldest son followed up his last tournament where he got his first match win by winning a match by pin this tournament, he also was in a medal round match but lost that match by points after 3 rounds, Great Job Ty!!!!!

My youngest had a rough weekend losing both his matches by points in a double elemination round ending his 3 tournament medal streak. He wrestled very well though. Good Job Jared....

Next week we travel to Columbia for the Motherlode Mayhem Tournament and both my boys are looking to medal as this will be our last tournament of the season.

Wrestling Update 02-08-09

My youngest son wrestled at the Massacre In The Mountains in Jackson this weekend in the 45Lb Bantam weight class. He went 2-2 on the day and finished in third out of 5 wrestlers winning his 3rd straight Bronze in as many tournaments.

My oldest son did not wrestle as he was sick.

Both will compete this week at our home tournament at Calaveras High School. This should be a good test for both my boys as our tournament draws plenty of talented young wrestlers.

Wrestling Update 01-04-09

Well, My sons competed in the Brett Harte Wrestling Classic and gave a good performance. My oldest (11) competed in the Novice 80Lb weight class and had a rough day going 0-4 and finishing 4th out of 5 due to points. This is second year in wrestling and he is learning well but facing opponents that have wrestled for 4-5 years.

My youngest (8) competed in the Bantam 45Lb weight class and this was his very 1st tournament. He lost the first match 27-36 (this was the highest scoring match I have ever coached), he lost by a Tech-Fall 3-18 in his second match and lost by a pin in the second round of his third match. He won match 4 by a pin in the first round and ended up placing 3rd out of 5 to medal in the tournament.

We are heading to the Crazy Wolf Tournament in Roseville this coming Saturday, updates to follow.
