Posted by Josh Katzowitz Giants coach Tom Coughlin cut P Matt Dodge after Sunday’s game when Dodge made a mistake and punted the ball to DeSean Jackson and … well … you know the rest of the story. Then, Coughlin changed his mind.
That’s what Howard Eskin of 610WIP radio in Philadelphia is reporting, although, according to Rapid Reporter Alex Raskin, a Giants spokesman has condemned Eskin’s tweets.
Eskin reported that Coughlin saw Dodge – who’s been on a bit of a rollercoaster this year – in tears after the game and told him to get out of the locker room and that he was no longer a member of the Giants.
The clear impression on the team was that Dodge had been cut. And if you saw the way Coughlin yelled at Dodge on the sideline after the game, that wouldn’t have been a bad assumption to make.
But a day later, Coughlin said he was sticking with Dodge as the team’s punter. For now, at least.
