Well here's a weird, potentially scary story that didn't end poorly: Devin Hester, Bears special teams player beast, was assaulted at a casino by a 52-year-old man named Daniel G. Rago at Rivers Casino in Des Plaines, Illinois.
Actually "assaulted" is really just a technical term, since Hester was, according to the Des Plaines Trib-Local, slapped in the back of the head by Rago while waiting a "cash transaction line at around 10:40 p.m. Friday."
Rago, according to Des Plaines Police Chief Jim Prandini, slapped the Bears player in the back of the head and then walked away.
"There was no brawl, no melee that drew attention to the situation," Prandini said. "There was no big scene that took place."
Following getting slapped, Hester went to casino security, who put Rago in a holding area and later had him arrested by local police.
"Devin was basically attacked," said Hester's agent Eugene Parker. "He did the right thing and showed great restraint in an unfortunate situation."
Seriously -- Hester's willingness not to react after getting hit in the back of the head for apparently no reason at all is pretty impressive. Rago wouldn't give a reason for why he went after Hester, so one has to assume that Rago either really hates or the Bears, or he was trying to sneak in a monster bet on the Vikings shortly after the incident.
