Every week, we could extol the virtues of Jets RB LaDainian Tomlinson. That’s how dominant he’s been this season. That’s how outstanding his comeback has been this year. That’s how impressive his career-saving performance has been this year.
So, we make a special effort to inform you that, with his eight-yard run off left tackle in the second quarter of today’s game vs. the Packers, Tomlinson became only the seventh player in NFL history to surpass 13,000 career rushing yards.
Eric Dickerson is No. 6 on the all-time rushing list with 13,280 yards, so Tomlinson could pass him in the next few weeks. Then, he could set his sites on Jerome Bettis, fifth on the list, and his mark of 13,662.
He's also only the second player in NFL history to accumulate at least 13,000 rushing yards and 4,000 receiving yards. The other is Walter Payton.
