Cowboys QB Jon Kitna is out for the rest of the Dallas-Arizona game with a hip pointer, meaning second-year Cardinals QB Stephen McGee will get the first extensive playing time of his career.
Kitna was hit by O’Brien Schofield and Calais Campbell after releasing a pass in the second quarter. He got up limping and missed on e play before Kitna returned and led Dallas to its only touchdown of the half (that Kitna, by the way, is one tough hombre, gaining seven tough yards on third and goal from the 9 to set up a two-yard TD pass to TE Jason Witten that cut the Arizona lead to 21-10 going into halftime).
After that drive, he returned to the locker room, ran back onto the field a few minutes later and began warming up again, though he never got into the game.
Kitna warmed up before the third quarter, but he didn’t feel well enough to play. Now, Cowboys interim coach Jason Garrett will see what he’s got in McGee – who, before tonight, had never taken a snap in the NFL.
