Ochocinco thrown from bull in 1.5 seconds

Posted by Will Brinson

NFL receiver Chad Ochocinco backed up his promise to ride a 1,500-pound bull on the Professional Bull Riders circuit Saturday night, earning $10,000 for making it out of the chute atop Deja Blu.

Ocho "only" lasted 1.5 seconds though. Actually, 1.5 seconds on a real, live bull is pretty good. But don't expect to see Ocho hopping back in the saddle.

"One and done," he said.

Ochocinco acknowledged that the Bengals probably weren't pleased that he was risking a career-threatening injury.

"I'm sure my coach was probably (upset)," Ochocinco said. "I mean, I would be, too. I'm sure the NFL is (upset), but I don't follow their rules anyway."

Ty Murray, a former world champion rider and a PBR director, coached Ochocinco the last two days at the Gwinnett Arena in hopes of preparing him for the powerful force of a bucking bull.

Murray compared the experience to a first-time skier attempting to navigate a run from the top of the French Alps.

"We practiced several crash scenarios today," Murray said. "He's a phenomenal athlete, he's very easy to teach because he's so athletic and aware of his body. But what he did was monumental and to try and ride a bull for 8 seconds with his lack of experience is impossible."

The decision to ride the bull was the latest publicity stunt in Ocho's offseason but he discounted it being any more dangerous than anything else he does in the workplace.

"No, every down is a risk to my career," he said. "Every time I wake up in the morning there's a risk to life in general. You never know what's going to happen. One of the things about me is I'm extremely interesting, I'm unpredictable and I am willing to do anything."

Ain't that the truth.

Ochocinco to ride bulls amid lockout

Posted by Will Brinson

Not much is entertaining about the lockout, but give Chad Ochocinco credit: his excursions into other jobs are pretty interesting. First, he was a "professional" soccer player with the local Kansas City MLS squad, Sporting KC.

Now, Ocho will be joining the PBR on tour. Yes, the Professional Bull Riders. At least that's according to OCNN News.

"#OCNNBreakingNews Due 2 the lockout I'll be participating n the PBR as a professional bull rider n Duluth,GA. May13th-14th Lil Taco #winning," Ochocinco tweeted on Thursday afternoon.

I tried to navigate the PBR website and dig up a press release about this, but I just ended up getting really thirsty.
El Ocho and the Bengals

Instead, I'm going to assume that Ocho will be handling this similarly to his soccer escapade.

Meaning, he'll be out there riding a bull and he'll be a part of the tour and the event, but he won't actually end up in any sort of dangerous position that could compromise his future as a football player.

After all, Ocho might have plenty of money and he might not be playing in Cincinnati next year, but surely he'll be playing somewhere -- provided he doesn't end up getting gored in May or anything.
