Now that former Steelers K Jeff Reed has taken some time off to collect himself, he’ll try to rejuvenate his career across the country in San Francisco.
Reed signed with the 49ers today, CSNbayarea.com confirmed, a few days after San Francisco cut K Shane Andrus – who made 2 of 4 field goal attempts in two games with the team.
The signing of Reed - who made 15 of 22 field goals this year but missed three of his last seven in Pittsburgh- means regular 49ers K Joe Nedney, who’s been out the past two games with a sprained knee, isn’t ready to return to action. It also means Reed’s tenure in San Francisco might be rather short.
