Report: Michael Vick will start

M. Vick suffered a concussion during Sunday's game vs. Atlanta (AP).Posted by Josh Katzowitz

Despite suffering a nasty-looking concussion last Sunday when he was thrown into his offensive tackle, it seemed like Michael Vick was headed this way all week. As in Vick, according to ESPN (via PFT), will start today vs. the Giants.

After suffering the concussion when Falcons safety William Moore threw Vick into Todd Herremans’ helmet during the Eagles loss to Atlanta, Vick improved rapidly throughout the week.

By Wednesday, Vick was symptom-free, though the Eagles were still being cautious. "Just because he doesn't have symptoms today doesn't mean he won't have symptoms tomorrow," trainer Rick Burkholder said. "You can't predict." But by Thursday, Vick was back at practice, taking first-team snaps.

And because Vick didn’t regress in the past couple days, he will return today, theoretically giving the Eagles a better chance to win than if they had to give Mike Kafka his first NFL start.

Vick leaves game with neck injury, concussion

Posted by Josh Katzowitz

By the time Michael Vick had to leave the Eagles-Falcons game, he had been erratic and, at the same time, devastating to his offense and to Atlanta’s defense.
NFL Week 2

And in the process of leading Philadelphia to a 31-21 lead, Vick got hammered by his own player and had to leave the game with a neck injury. After the game, coach Andy Reid said Vick had suffered a concussion.

Deep in Atlanta territory, the Falcons caught Vick with a corner blitz, and after he releases the ball, Atlanta safety William Moore wrapped him and tackled him to the ground. Problem is, on the way down, Vick’s head connected with the helmet of his tackle Todd Herremans.

It was a sickening collision, and a wobbly Vick had to be helped off the field while spitting out blood. Backup quarterback Mike Kafka, seeing his first NFL action, has replaced Vick -- who got booed off the field as he walked to the locker room by the classy Falcons fans.

Falcons safety William Moore arrested

Posted by Andy Benoit
W. Moore
UPDATE 11:50 a.m. EST: Thanks to some investigative reporting from Pro Football Talk, it sounds like Moore’s arrest was the result of a miscommunication. Moore was pulled over for speeding and arrested for a previous unresolved speeding ticket. That prompted the “failure to appear” charge and suspended license.

Moore reportedly resolved a speeding ticket several months ago, not realizing at the time that there was a second unresolved ticket to deal with.

William Moore spent seven hours in jail on Tuesday. The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that the Falcons safety was arrested in Gwinnett County (GA) and charged with speeding, driving with a suspended license and failure to appear.

Moore, 25, was a second-round pick out of Missouri in 2009. He has flashed star potential for his big hit ability and ferocity.

No word on whether this will lead to a reprimanding from the NFL after the lockout, though Moore has not violated the personal conduct policy before.
