Pick-Six Podcast: Herzlich + Week 17 film room

By Will Brinson & Ryan Wilson

The holiday season's had us off our game when it comes to podcasting (you try talking into a microphone when you've got 14 family members screaming in the background), but we've got a long one to get you through your Friday right now.

Andy Benoit joins Will to break down the NFC East "championship game" on Sunday night and compare/contrast Eli Manning and Tony Romo.

Ryan then chats up Giants linebacker Mark Herzlich about his first year in the NFL, being in the thick of a playoff hunt and how his work with Gatorade prepared him for the NFL.

Then Will and Andy break down all the remaining big games and discuss whether the Bengals can upset the Ravens, if the Jets are actually worthy of the playoffs, if the Broncos deserve to get beat by Kyle Orton, if Cam Newton's first year is the best rookie season ever, and much more.

Finally, Wilson talks to Michael David Smith of PFT about the Lions finally making it back to the playoffs and the week that was in the NFL. It's a jam-packed, holiday bonus show.

Pick-Six Podcast: Colts/Texans, Week 16 preview

By Will Brinson & Ryan Wilson

The next-to-last week of the season is underway and after watching the Texans lose to the Colts, it promises to be a doozy. We break down what happened with the Texans, if they are in trouble, what this means for the Colts and Andrew Luck, and whether Reggie Wayne should stick around Indy.

Then we break down the Week 16 games, wondering whether Norv Turner can save his job with a win over the Lions on Saturday, if the Jets and Giants will ever shut up and just play football, if the Eagles fate is narrowly miss the playoff or if they're on a high-speed collision with the postseason, whether Chicago can use Kansas City's blueprint to beat the Packers and if Atlanta can upend New Orleans on Monday.

All that plus much, much more below.

Pick-6 Podcast: Week 16 Film Room

By Will Brinson & Ryan Wilson

There are two weeks left in the regular season. The four months have flown by but there's plenty to be decided over the final fortnight. Which is why we call on Andy Benoit, our in-house Xs and Os guru, to break it all down.

Some of the highlights from his weekly visit to the show:
  • Should both Patriots tight ends make the Pro Bowl?
  • Can Reggie Bush can run wild again in Week 16?
  • Why should Kevin Kolb be the Cardinals' starter in 2012?
  • Does John Elway really support Tim Tebow?
  • Are Chargers a capable playoff team?
  • Related: can San Diego beat Detrot this week (if not, ignore the previous bullet point)?
  • Related, part II: Are the Eagles a capable playoff team?
  • Why are the Giants flapping their gums ahead of their matchup with the Jets?
  • Should the Packers be worried?
All right, let's get to it...

Pick-Six Podcast: MNF review, power outage, MDS

By Will Brinson & Ryan Wilson

Monday night was an interesting disaster in powering up a stadium and watching football wasn't it?

But not as big a disaster as the Steelers handling of Ben Roethlisberger -- we break down what happened in the game, how talented the 49ers are, whether Ben should've played, whether Alex Smith is Pro-Bowl worthy, and the crazy conspiracy about the power outage that's percolating on Tuesday.

Then Michael David Smith of PFT joins the show to break down the Raiders defensive woes against the Lions and whether or not Romeo Crennel should get the head-coaching gig in Kansas City.

Pick-6 Podcast: Recapping Ravens, previewing MNF

By Will Brinson & Ryan Wilson

The Ravens blew it. They had a chance to wrap up the AFC North, and maybe even the No. 1 seed in the conference and all they had to do was beat the Chargers in San Diego. It seemed eminently possible since San Diego had lost six games in a row after starting the season 4-1, and Baltimore was considered one of the NFL's best teams.

Instead, the Ravens' inability to beat lesser opponents on the road haunted them once again and now it could mean the difference between a first-round bye and traveling to Denver as a wild-card team.

So we talk about that, as well as what the win means for the 7-7 Chargers. Do they still have a chance at the postseason? (No way, right? Right?!)

In addition to San Diego's surprising win, Week 15 was chocked full of upsets and we discuss those, too: from Romeo Crennel and the Chiefs upending the previously undefeated Packers, to the Colts finally getting a win (thanks, Tennessee!), to the Panthers thoroughly outplaying the Texans, as well as the ever-evolving playoff landscape

Finally, we preview a suddenly important Steelers-49ers Monday Night Football matchup.

Pick-Six Podcast: Week 15 preview + Thurs review

By Will Brinson & Ryan Wilson

Thursday night's scorcher of a game between the Jaguars and Falcons kicked off Week 15's action, and the guys wonder whether Atlanta is getting hot at the right time, if Jacksonville has any hope and just how awesome Shahid Khan's mustache is.

Then they turn their attention to the rest of the week's slate, debating who's in more trouble if they lost Saturday between Raheem Morris and Jason Garrett, why Rick Perry is talking about Tim Tebow, how much trouble Sam Hurd is in and why he did the things he allegedly did, whether the Broncos can actually upset the Patriots, if the Eagles can make a run, why Joe Flacco is whining about Tim Tebow's media coverage and much, much more.

Pick-6 Podcast: Warren Moon, Week 15 film room

By Will Brinson & Ryan Wilson

Warren Moon's NFL career spanned 17 seasons and included 9 Pro Bowls. In 2006, he was enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He joins the podcast to discuss the St. Jude Warren Moon Hall of Fame Invitational Golf Tournament, a charity event that supports St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a pediatric treatment and research facility that defines its mission as "…advancing cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay."

Moon also talks Texans (playoff football in Houston!), Cam Newton's success, the 2012 quarterback draft class, and if Newton's success has made it easier for people to rank Robert Griffin highly.

Then Andy Benoit joins the show for his weekly Film Room segment. He breaks down whether the Lions and Raiders are fading, who's going to win the epic battle between Tim Tebow and Tom Brady, if the Chiefs and Dolphins can land good head coaches, how well Marshawn Lynch is running right now, if Houston's defense can continue to dominate without Wade Phillips, whether Eli Manning is "elite," and if the Giants are making a 2007-esque run.

All right, let's get to it...

Pick-6 Podcast: Harrison suspended, coaches fired

By Will Brinson & Ryan Wilson

Tuesdays are usually pretty slow during the regular season. But last week Jack Del Rio got canned, and today the NFL suspended Steelers linebacker Jame Harrison one game for blasting Browns quarterback Colt McCoy.

Oh, and on Monday, Todd Haley and Tony Sparano got the Del Rio treatment and now the Chiefs and Dolphins are in the market for head coaches, too.

So, yes, we have plenty to talk about on the latest edition of the podcast.

Did Harrison's punishment fit the crime(s)?

Who's on the head-coaching short list in Miami and Kansas City?

As always, we're joined by ProFootballTalk.com's Michael David Smith. We talk playoffs for the Lions and Bears, the latest Tebow awesomness (specifically: can the Steelers win a wild card game in Denver? We couldn't believe we asked that either), the Haley news, and T.J. Yates' accomplishment in Cincinnati Sunday.

All right, let's get to it...
