Podcast: Top-10 QBs, Power Rankings, Frank Gore

Posted by Will Brinson & Ryan Wilson

Podcast time, kids! And it's the last one before we go full-on with our heavy schedule of talking on the Internet radios during the regular season. So I suggest you get your subscribe on right here.

New season, new name (CBSSports.com's Pick-6 Podcast) and snazzy new art. Yeah, that's how we're rolling.

In the meantime, we debate our top-10 quarterback list if the season started right now (read: Peyton Manning doesn't make it unless you think he's faking), wonder whether Tony Romo can make the jump to an "elite" quarterback, why Will thinks Philip Rivers is better than Drew Brees and what on earth Ryan's doing with Ben Roethlisberger in his top three.

We also debate Pete Prisco's power rankings and then wonder why the 49ers gave Frank Gore so much money.

Conversatin' starts … now (and while we have you, remember to subscribe to the podcast via iTunes). If you can't listen to the podcast below, download it here. And if you'd like to keep working while listening in your browser, pop that puppy out in a new tab here.

Podcast: Madden ratings, Arian Foster & Best WRs

Posted by Will Brinson & Ryan Wilson

Tuesday is "Madden Day" around the world and to celebrate, Donny Moore, the ratings guru for EA Sports joins the podcast to talk about how EA will handle Peyton Manning's neck injury and Chris Johnson's holdout, whether Terrelle Pryor is worthy of a decent ranking, why Tim Tebow stinks so badly and how awesome Cam Newton will be in the new game. He also fills us in on who the sneakiest best teams to play with are.

Plus, the guys talk about Arian Foster's recent decision to tweet about fantasy football players harassing him over his injury, who has the best wide receiver corps in the NFL, Pryor playing quarterback for the Raiders in the final preseason game, and what the worst positions on each contender are.

Podcast: Newton vs. Dalton, Fouts on young QBs

Posted by Will Brinson & Ryan Wilson

Dan Fouts joins the show to talk about today's young quarterbacks -- Cam Newton, Tim Tebow, Terrelle Pryor -- as well as concussions and the new kickoff rule.

Will and Ryan also break down Thursday night's preseason action, discussing whether Newton looked good enough to take the starting gig in Carolina, and if Andy Dalton is improving as fast as it appeared -- or he just looked like it relative to Newton. (CBSSports.com's Clark Judge was at the game and he's not sure Newton's ready for what he's about to face.)

Then there's the ongoning Chris Johnson saga in Tennessee, the quarterback competion between Rex Grossman and John Beck in DC, whether the Ravens' offensive line can keep Joe Flacco upright, if the Steelers did the right thing in signing Lawrence Timmons before Troy Polamalu and much, much more.

Podcast: Kerry Collins, Von Miller and Fins new O

Posted by Will Brinson & Ryan Wilson

We figured Brett Favre would pull a Favre before Kerry Collins did, but the Colts signed Collins out of retirement Tuesday because there are legitimate concerns that Manning won't be ready for the start of the regular season.

And anybody who watched Indianapolis in preseason is intimately familiar with the fact that, as interim replacements for Manning, Curtis Painter and Dan Orlovsky provide the team with one thing: pole position in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes. Collins may be old, but he's the best option to bridge the gap and minimize the damage between now and whenever Manning can return.

Because this is the NFL, we again talk Tim Tebow, who now appears to be the Broncos' fourth-best quarterback. Will Brinson catches up with the only person on Earth yet to be asked about Tebow: Denver first-round pick, rookie linebacker Von Miller.

We also touch on Terrelle Pryor, Garrard over Gabbert, the Dolphins' new high-powered offense, the number of games Kenny Britt and Aqib Talib can expect to be suspended, and the moxy of Browns quarterback Colt McCoy.

Yapping starts … now (and while we have you, remember to subscribe to the podcast via iTunes). If you can't listen to the podcast below, download it here. And if you'd like to keep working while listening in your browser, pop that puppy out in a new tab here.

Podcast: Favre to Colts, Fitz' contract, T-Pryor

Posted by Will Brinson & Ryan Wilson

You'll never believe this, but there are rumors about Brett Favre going to the Colts because Peyton Manning is hurt. In Monday's podcast (yes, we're running behind), we take a look at that silliness, discuss Jim Irsay's love of Steely Dan and debate when Peyton Manning will actually return to action.

We also discuss the new contract for Larry Fitzgerald, whether it was a good deal or not, if the Cardinals were wise to spend that much on a wide receiver and how it affects Chris Johnson's would-be deal with the Titans, talk about Terrelle Pryor's status (we actually recorded before the supplemental draft but knew he was going to the Raiders anyway) and much, much more.

Yapping starts … now (and while we have you, remember to subscribe to the podcast via iTunes). If you can't listen to the podcast below, download it here. And if you'd like to keep working while listening in your browser, pop that puppy out in a new tab here.

Podcast: Vick, Pryor, Tebow and Rookie QBs

Posted by Will Brinson & Ryan Wilson

Doug Farrar of Yahoo.com's Shutdown Corner blog and FootballOutsiders.com (buy FO's 2011 Almanac now!) joins the podcast to talk about Terrelle Pryor's newfound supplemental draft eligibility, Michael Vick's GQ interview, and commissioner Roger Goodell's role in all this.

There is actual football going on, as well. Farrar gives us his take on the rookie quarterbacks, including the revelation that he thinks Jake Locker could be the Titans starter even though the team paid Matt Hasselbeck $9 million. We discuss whether Chris Johnson is worth what he thinks he's worth, and which rookies (at any position) will have the biggest impacts for their teams this season. And, of course, there's a gratuitous Cam Netwon name-check.

Oh, and there were games Thursday -- the Pats played the Bucs and the Steelers hosted the Eagles. We talk about that, too. (Down goes the Dream Team!)

Yapping starts … now (and while we have you, remember to subscribe to the podcast via iTunes).

Podcast: AJ Hawk, Power Rankings, good/bad/ugly

Posted by Will Brinson & Ryan Wilson

Power rankings time! Pete Prisco's got his out and what would a Wednesday be without some lively debate about where teams rank before the season even starts? And with our columnists dispatched to three specific locations, we talk about breaking the NFL into three catagories (good/bad/ugly) -- where does your team fall?

Also, A.J. Hawk, linebacker for the defending champion Green Bay Packers, joins the podcast. We talk about the Packers flying under the radar, if they're motivated by the Eagles being a "dream team," how he's embracing a role as a leader and what he thinks about HGH testing.

"I think it's awesome that they're going to start testing for HGH," Hawk told CBSSports.com. "I think it's a great thing for the game. I think baseball showed throughout their whole time that if you don't test for something, guys are going to do it. I have no idea -- I've obviously never watched anyone or seen anyone do it, but I'm not stupid. I know it's going on.

"They can take my blood every single day if they want. I won't oppose that ever."

So, yeah, excellent stuff -- we also talk about his work with Gatorade on their "Beat the Heat" campaign, on the 10-year anniversary of Korey Stringer's death. (Go to NFL.com/TrainingCamp to download the free Heat Safety Kit.)

Ryan and I also discuss whether the recent Miami scandal will have any effect on current NFL players and talk about Aaron Maybin jumping ship from the Bills to the Jets.

All that -- and much, much, more -- by clicking the play button below. Also, SUBSCRIBE VIA ITUNES.
