Come on lets wait until Thursday what a great win for IU. The crowd was unreal and its great to get the big lead to start the game. Every time UM press to get close a big three from Hulls or some huge play. Free throws down the stretch was great to see and total break through game for Cody. He look mad and played with a huge amount on intensity. Was a great game for IU and will be well deserve to be #1.
Big week for the Hoosiers. How does everyone feel about these games???
Illinois is dismal right now. Seems they have the same make-up has recent Illini teams...no heart. They're shooting poorly. They're not playing much defense. I like IU to cruise in this one.
Ohio St. will be interesting. I feel like the Hoosiers will match-up well based on the way they have been defending. I'm not sure OSU has enough offensive support for Thomas.........but they're at home. This one should be fun. If they are coming in off a loss at Michigan, they'll be motivated.
Well Florida just got ripped at Arkansas (score closer than the game, for those who didn't watch). I say we focus completely on Illinois first. It'll be close for sure I imagine. But a quick start by IU might just knock the Illini back into the crater Weber created for them (after Groce had done a nice job to pull them somewhat out). On the other hand, a quick start for the Illini and their fans will be pumped! Again, this one makes me a little nervous. But the Hoosiers are playing better as of late... we shall see.
I hope we do to Ill what we did to Purdue keep the crowd out of the game and take care of buisness. Ohio State worries me as it will be tough road game but again if we do what we should do we should be able to win this game I like the match ups.
That michigan/indiana game was fun to watch. Oladipo has become a beast. Reminds me of Luol Dang. With respect with Illinois, we are the worst Division - I team in the nation in terms of assists per game. Brandon Paul is more than 50% of our problem with repsect to that. We play better when he is on the bench, but even then we are slow to react on offense. It's like it hurts us to think on when and where to pass the ball next. What we are great at is transition, that was a big reason to our early success. Good perimeter pressure defense and quick run outs. Big Ten has taken that away from us and forced us into half court basketball. Pretty simply answer really. We actually played well against Michigan doing that, but Michigan is a great team. As long as you play smart and limit the turnovers I don't see how the Hoosiers loose this game. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if you brought a rather large crowd. Last 3 games, top 4 rows the Assembly Hall has been empty. I expect to see a lot or red there!
dont go so far man, Average? then every team is average this year i guess? and it is the big ten, extremely tough to win on the road...could erase this if they pull it out in Columbus (ha)
but agreed totally unaccetable, how can you not call a time out there
I still can't understand why Watford can't finish.................. Oh yea, he refuses to use a head fake and he refuses to kick it out. When he used a head fake for an easy lay up late against Michigan, I thought maybe he had turned the corner................. maybe not.
Just pissed a little. Tonight they were average team. Good/#1 teams don't let a true "average team" beat you like that. At this point I don't see them winning at OSU, Ann Arbor or East Lansing, heck Minnesota can beat them as well. That is not way to finish season, plus the dreaded B1G tourney is not a confidence builder as well.
I kinda hang this lose on Crean. He needed to call time out about 4 minutes left and tell team to slow dowm and play half court game, too many three bombs?
HE did not call a time out in the last 4 minutes when IU blew their 10 point lead against Illinois and he still had 2 timeouts. With remaining away games against OSU, MIchigan, MSU, and Minny in addition to a home game against OSU the hoosiers will be lucky to finish the B1G Ten season with a 12-6 record.
Michigan goes down, which was nice. The Illinois loss is NOT on Crean. And saying that it's his fault is foolish. The players did not bring enough energy in that game, and thats on them. The veterans totally let us down. I know Oladipo made a save with the block, but shouldn't been in that position because he shouldn't have turned it over. Watford and Zeller not communcating on the last play, plus Sheehey continuing to chuck up three's when that shot just hasn't been there recently for him. Now even Gotlieb pointed out that IU got zero calls in the last five minutes, and if Sheehey deserved to get T'd up after his dunk, then Groce deserved two for this antics with about 4 and a half to go. Just the way life goes in the B1G. Gotta regroup, no reason we cant win tomorrow if we come out focused again.
The sky still isn't falling in, we still only have three losses by a total of nine points. Life down the stretch here will be tough. About to find out if we are really up for it. Weren't on Thursday, but can still prove that we belong.
Still not sure why Oladipo had the ball in his hands at the end of that Illinois game??? I know he's great getting to the basket, but normally it's coming off catch and drive. Seems smarter to have the ball in Farrell's hands.
Anyway, sitting here watching Valpo - Cleveland St. and former Hoosier Bobby Capobianco has 11 at the half......
