Greg, how right you are!  "There is, therefore, now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."  I think it is our starting place--the admitting that on our own, we will never achieve the holiness God wants for us.  It is only then that we realize that being a "good person" isn't enough and we turn to God.  Once we confess our need for His righteousness to be applied to us through the blood of His Son, our sins are cast out of His sight, as far as the east is from the west, to be remembered by Him no more.  When we give up our self-righteousness for God's, we are His children and live with the hope of freedom from sin and self-condemnation, as well as the condemnation others would subject us to.  "He Who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it."  Praise His name!

I also praise God for the progress for Job and pray for progress for Christi in her chemo.  Today I removed Mom's bandages and cleaned her surgery site and rebandaged it.  All looks good, thank the Lord!

I read today that an entire family in Egypt has been sentenced to prison for converting to Christianity.  Please keep them and all the persecuted church in prayer as well.

Thank you all for the prayers and support and I pray I have been of some support to you all as well!

Be God's!

"The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble."
Psalm 9:9

The Lord is our refuge and our strength. It takes a great deal of wisdom to realize that.
Our lives are much more than possessions and positions. Our lives are gifts from God;
given to us and to others for His glory. We need not ask what more God can do for us,
but what we might do to serve God. He will surely let us know.

Father, I sometimes need to escape: from the world, from myself, from the things that
tie me down. Be my liberation and my sanctuary and my rest. Strengthen me for Your service
in Jesus' name, Amen.

The devil’s on a rampage he knows his time is short
So we don’t need to worry the battle has been fought

Satan was defeated when Jesus died upon the cross
So when you hear him roaring it’s just allot of noise.

We have no need to fear him, the battle has been won
It has been finished by God’s only Son.

I saw this posted elsewhere and thought I'd share.  When Satan reminds you of your past, remind him of his future!

Be God's!

Amen, Sis.  When I read your post, it immediately stirred up by way of remembrance this passage:

1 John 4

On Denying the Incarnation

4 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 5 They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. 6 We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit[a] of truth and the spirit of falsehood.

God’s Love and Ours

7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

Gators, what a great post!  Timely for me as well.  I just finished a one-hour study from my church on the work of the Holy Spirit and our surrender to Him.  I especially appreciate the verses on loving one another for love is from God--I've had a number of "Christians" lately whose 'situational ethics' seem to leave out the Bible's teachings on loving one another in the body of Christ!  The day is surely coming near!

Much love in Christ to all here and keep your eyes upon God!

My friend Cheryl is planning for the funeral of her mother-in-law.  She and her husband are Christians, but her husband's two brothers are not.  The fighting over the will has begun even before the funeral Thursday.  Please say a prayer for this family.
Thanks,

Sis, I'm so sorry to hear that the family is fighting over money.  It is so sad when that happens- we have talked about this before.  I remember when my mother -in- law went to be with the Lord, my wife's brothers and sisters (except for her one sister) were being kind of snippy about what the two (my wife and her sister Carrie) had done vis-a-vis arrangements, etc.  It's sad that many of them did little to help in the last year.  My own grandfather passed away a number of years ago, and my mom moved in and waited on him for the last year of his life, but very few of the family helped.  They were all there at the end though, and they all had an opinion.

Lord, we lift up Cheryl and the family at this time of loss.  May Cheryl and her husband be able to witness to Your goodness and grace.  May the brothers' hearts be softened and may they realize this is not a time to quibble over this world's goods which are perishing with the use, but to focus on real, meaningful things, like our eternal destiny, love, and precious memories.  We ask in Jesus' Precious Name, Amen.

Thanks for the encouragement and prayers, Greg.  I know you and I have seen this unfortunate behavior before.  In times of loss, some display the best in them and others show the worst.  I add my Amen to your prayer.

May our Lord be with all those who mourn and heal those who are sick.

"In the LORD I take refuge. How then can you say to me: 'Flee like a bird to your mountain.' "
Psalm 11:1

We are overexposed to choices. Every day someone will try to tell us that we need one more thing
in order to make our lives complete. Ads tells us that we should be dissatisfied with what we have,
that we need something different. The truth is, when we find what works, or what is right, or what
we like, no one should be able to tell us that we're wrong. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth,
and the life, and no one and nothing can ever take His place. We are already Kingdom people.
There's no reason to try anything else.

Lord, when I feel surrounded by outside pressure, reach out to me that I might know I have
nothing to fear. Teach me Your truth each day. Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light
unto my path.  Your ways bring me peace even in troubled times.  As Paul said, I need
to know nothing but Christ, and Him crucified.  Add to my faith and lead me to right
decisions so that I may serve others and glorify Your name, for You alone are worthy
of praise.  In Jesus' name, Amen.

Thank you AB4C, you are right about Ecclesiastes and the reminder that we are here for better reasons than fighting over material goods within our families, especially at a time of mourning.  Your prayers are really appreciated!

We are all facing various ups and downs but standing strong as best we can in faith, Fantasy_Stud.  Good to see you and thanks for asking.  You are right about inappropriate fighting among family members, especially while in mourning.  Sorry to hear about your grandparents.  I know how hard that was for me.  Please know you and your family will be in our prayers.  God can and has done great things with circumstances that look impossible for us.  Know that we are here for you if you need support.  The prayers are what we do!

God bless you with peace and strength and rest at this time and always,

Father we lift up brother Gary's wife and sister.  Hearing the C word is terrifying, but we know who the Great Designer is and that he has the owner's manual.  Give peace to Wendy and Paula, and may Your Spirit overshadow them, giving them the comfort that only You can give.  Rebuke the errant cells and mend the dysfunctional tissue.  Strengthen and quicken body and spirit for the times of trial, we ask.  We pray in Jesus' effectual and Holy Name, Amen.

Ain't it the truth Fantasia?  I live in the Springs, and the fools don't know that four wheels can spin just like two.  Physics doesn't care if you have a Jeep or not.

Father, we ask for traveling mercies, and a good dose of common sense.  Restrain the impulse of drunken fools to get behind the wheel, and may the skiing crowd temper their enthusiasm with good judgment.  May we be the salt and light in a frozen wonderland.  We pray in Jesus' Name, Amen.
