Prayers

January 29, 2013 9:52 am

Im praying for everyone in Colorado because we got from anywhere 6 - 24 inches of snow last night. im praying for all those people driving safe because all the crazies out there thinking you can drive fast in snowy weather. also all the people who are stuck at home have a safe snowy week.

Ain't it the truth Fantasia?  I live in the Springs, and the fools don't know that four wheels can spin just like two.  Physics doesn't care if you have a Jeep or not.

Father, we ask for traveling mercies, and a good dose of common sense.  Restrain the impulse of drunken fools to get behind the wheel, and may the skiing crowd temper their enthusiasm with good judgment.  May we be the salt and light in a frozen wonderland.  We pray in Jesus' Name, Amen.

Father, we lift Wendy to You and ask for Your healing touch.  Give wisdom and compassion to the health care workers as they treat her.  Give Wendy and her family the strength of Your presence and the comfort of knowing You will never leave them.  Speak Your peace to Wendy and her family and friends.  You are the Great Physician and we put our trust in You.  Lord, we pray for a total healing and for the peace that passes all understanding to guard Wendy's heart and mind in Christ Jesus as she goes through the procedures and treatments in Jesus' name, Amen

Father, touch Paula with Your healing and love and ease the pain of her degenerative disc disease.  Lead her to health care that will provide relief.  Strengthen her bones as You strengthen her will and her trust in You.  Show her that her footing is sound with You as she stands upon the Rock.  Grant her mercy and grace to meet her needs and see her through an answer that brings relief and restore her health.  We rely on You, Father, for all our daily needs.  Be her comfort and strength in this time of need and we will give You all the glory for You alone are worthy of praise.  We pray in Jesus' name, Amen

Lord, we pray for all who effected by severe weather, those who are still without power on the East Coast, those who are caught in the snow storm in Colorado.  God, we ask that you move hearts and minds to behave rationally and kindly and to help those in need.  Let our conduct honor You and benefit those who are suffering.  We know that You are our only hope in this world so move people to seek You in good times and in difficult times for the glory of Your name, Amen

So many request lately and I am lifting them all up and saying a special prayer for health, peace and goodwill to find all of you.  Job is home and recovering time will tell if he will need more surgery so keep him in your prayers.

Blessings to all especially those who visit but not wish to post.

Prayers go out to the family and friends of Caleb Moore, who was killed on a snowmobile during last week's X Games.  Although he crashed, he got up and walked away.  He was taken to a hospital and kept due to a concussion, but apparently he had internal bleeding and died this morning.  May God me merciful and compassionate to those with whom Caleb competed and to those in his friends and family.

I know today is the Superbowl. There is a story that is not widely reported that I want to share.  Ravens player Torrey Smith basically raised his brothers and sisters while his Mom worked.  On 9/23/12, he learned one of his younger brothers was killed in a crash.  Torrey had 2 hours of sleep before a game with the Ravens against the Patriots.  His family told him to play the game.  Ed Reed, a Ravens defensive player, gave Torrey the song "I Give Myself Away" to listen to before the game.  Torrey went out and had one of the best games of his career and clearly cried and prayed along the sidelines.  After that the whole team went with him to his brother's funeral.  The love and the devotion to God and to one another runs deep through the Ravens locker room.  My heart goes with them today.  Take one minute to hug your loved ones and to listen to this song.  Like Ed and Torry, we should give ourselves away so God can use us.

Be God's!

"I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly."
John 10:10

Bill Bright used to tell the story of a man who carefully saved his money until he
was finally able to travel on a beautiful cruise ship. It was all he could do just
to save enough to buy his ticket. Thinking he wouldn't have enough money to buy
meals in the ship's fine dining room, he decided to take along some cheese and
crackers for food.

For several days he sat in his cabin, watching the stewards go by with carts full
of luscious lobster, prime rib, fresh fruits and vegetables. Finally, he couldn't
stand it any longer. He reached out and grabbed one of the stewards by the arm
and begged him for a plate of food. "Please, help me. I'll go to work, I'll scrub
the deck. I'll do anything to get something to eat. My cheese and crackers are
turning stale, and I'm starving to death."

"But, sir," the steward replied, "don't you know? Your food comes with your ticket."

Many Christians live the way this passenger did on the cruise ship. They are
"cheese and crackers" believers, living off rations when they could be dining on
steak and baked potatoes. They don't allow the Holy Spirit to take control of their
lives and produce the luscious fruit of the Spirit--love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.Instead they live in spiritual poverty.

I've been a "cheese and crackers" Christian on more than one occasion. I've been
satisfied at times with the bare bones of salvation, figuring that is all I should
really expect. But my spiritual hunger finally got the best of me, and I surrendered
my life to Jesus Christ. Nothing can satisfy like Him.

Yesterday i gave a blessing to one my friends son who is suffering from ear problems since last year. he is set to have surgery this year on his ear. i am a elder in my church. i have been in the priesthood for over 3 years now.

i hope everone is doing fine.

i think it was pretty dirty what the refs did in the Superbowl, not calling a holding or interference call on the Ravens at the end of the game.

Thanks, Gary, and blessings to you and your family.  You are all in my prayers daily!

Fantasy, I pray the surgery on the ear of your friend's son goes well.  May our Lord give healing to this young man.

There were only seven penalties in the Super Bowl, I think.  The refs swallowed their whistles for the whole game--not just holding in the fourth quarter but no calls on roughing the passer, late hits out of bounds, helmet to helmet hits, not even an ejection for pushing a ref.  Both teams got away with a lot so I can't cry about one particular call in the fourth quarter when the refs seemed like they didn't want to call anything all game long.  Very curious, especially with all the emphasis on player safety.  Glad no one got seriously injured.

Be God's!

My friend Tracy goes for her final chemo treatment today.  Her arthritis is flaring up, but she truly embodies the verse "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."  She went out and walked a few miles to stay in shape for the treatment!  Please keep Tracy in your prayers!

Greetings all, Gators, the snow you got in the Colorado was a drop in the bucket to what we got, still over a foot on  the ground here.  We have had inversions for most of January and so far in Feb.  AB4C, great to see your consistency on this thread and Sissy words cannot express the job you do here.

You're right, buddy.  We're still in semi-drought conditions on the Eastern Slope.  All our snow is getting scraped off in the mountains before it gets to us.  We're getting dusted and windy.  It's great for the ski resorts, but the farmers are nervous.
