2009 Steelers Draft and Mel Kiper Sucks Thread

RE: rare breed,
Back to Kellen Moore, he is really short, Drew Brees he is not, and he is not speedy either, he is rated on several sites for end of the 5th, to early 6th right now.

This wasn't me. I'm not a fan of short QBs nor a fan of HB Option QB. Ryan Lindley (San Diego St ) was who I like at the beginning of the college season. 6-4 215 he has the tools to be a good NFL prospect but maybe not the accuracy, at best he will be a late 3rd round draft pick. If the Steelers pick a QB in the draft I don't see them taking one before that so they wont get a Luck or Landry. Hopefully though they take a real QB and not someone who wants to takeoff running if there first read isn't there. It's very unlikely to win a SuperBowl with that type of QB. A lot of people are going to argue Steve Young but he was a product of an unusually great system at the time and it took him years to finally get it. I saw him when he played for Tampa Bay and he absolutely STUNK!!!

NY,

Yeah been busy brother..  I'm remodeling a bathroom and sheez - the wife has my on a time line...  Relatives coming in OCt 22 weekend and I need to get it finish by then...  as any project - ran into some issues mostly plumbing...  I can do almost anything BUT HATE Plumbing work. always wet..  stinky and have to fit in tight places.  and weird angels....  ARGH)@U(@!)*#

Hopefully in November I can get into the swing...  I do like the Texas A&M QB...   Less risk and better value as a 2nd round pick...  will have to watch and see....

enjoy,

I don't mind plumbing, if I am gutting it and putting in brand new PVC. Nothing worse than working with Pipes that Abe Lincoln installed. I find the grey glue works better than the blue stuff.  The crazy thing is that I have wrenches up to 2-1/2 inches, trust me the ones 2 inches and up are in their own drawer, they are ginormous, I think I bought them just because they were impressive looking. But one day I had a giant nut under my sink and the 2-1/4 wrench worked better than a pipe wrench, so I actually used a giant open end/ box.

I think Carpentry is my strong suit, although I do electrical work, but it stops at the breaker box, I don't play with crap like that, I pay a professional and live to see another day. Speaking of which I bought a Generac 8000 and am having a transfer switch installed. That last power outage got me to thinking..... OVer 50 years old and I am moving a freezer up the basement stairs by myself. It is not heavy until you start going up an incline....... took it over my mom's house and plugged it in to save my frozen food, mostly meat.

10-4, I went back and it was 6ajx8 who asked the question about Moore, sorry about that.  and me too, 6 feet and under is for cemetaries, not for an NFL team.

Hey burghball - remember when I wanted the safety from UCLA because I wanted a cover guy? After watching the Eagles secondary's pathetic attempts at tackling I'd just like to say you were right and I was wrong! They cant stop anyone! Its not even football!!

You gotta work with the PEX once NY, once you do you'll never eff with that plastic or copper nonsense again. I have some rentals and every now and then I have to replace some works. Since that PEX is flexible I can attach it from the upstairs and pull the pipe out in the basement and feed the new line while replacing the old lines. The gator clips are a snap to use and I've never had one leak!

Check it out! PEX

ironman,

The house we bought in 2007 came with PEX, I have not had to fix anything yet. NOthing leaks so I leave it alone.  At work I do plumbing repairs to PVC.  My last house was all copper, I can solder like a m0f0.

Beach,

Rahim Moore can tackle, and much better than Nmandi Ashegoesby or Asante Swingandmiss or Domanic Rusher-Cumspastme and he's right, he plays for Denver. But I think you are reminding us how BB said so and so cannot tackle no thanks, not just in the draft but free agency.

Thursday night - September 29th

South Florida At Pitt

I saw South Florida play ND earlier - and remember saying that this team has talent..  But I can't find many Bulls listed in projected NFL draft picks in serveral sights..   Maybe they have a lot of underclassmen.   I need to watch and see about talent for Next year (2013 draft)....  THis Bulls team is talented though..

Couple players to Watch:

PITT
Brandon Lindsey OLB - projected 2nd round
Lucas Nix OG - Projected 2nd round - will watch closely as this is a need area...
Max Gruder ILB ILB - Late rounder
CHris Jacobson OG/OT - Hurt again - take a pass  - kid is hurt more often than he plays

South FLorida
Jerrell Young FS - late rounder
Jeremiah Warren OG - late rounder/undrafted - again need area

Saturday night - Nebraska at Wisconsin - A must see for me..  Wisconsin almost always produces NFL level O-linemen...   I'll try and post more on this one later in the week.

enjoy,

bb

ps - Check out the risers and Fallers - updated this week and a couple of names on the risers are guys we have talked about...

Re Kellen Moore, that was me who brought him up. Just possibilities as a backup QB down the road, but I didn't realize how small he was.
Kellen Moore is listed at 6'0" 191lbs.  Drew Brees is listed at 6'0" 209.  By the combine I expect to see Moore weighing over 200lbs.  Moore doesn't appear to be as quick as Brees but he has amazing pocket presence. He reads a defense very well and makes quick decisions.  I don't think I've ever seen him get rattled during a game.   People that talk about his arm strength haven't seen him play.  I remember hearing the same stuff about Brees coming out of college.  Now look at him.

6xaj8,

Even if Moore goes up to 210 lbs. that is still tiny and guys like Harrison will snap him in half.  Hey I root for guys like him, but the odds of him being successful in the NFL are reduced by his size and speed. The combine is not everything, but you cannot coach height, reach,  or speed, these kids either have it or they don't.

Drew Brees is the exception to the rule, before him Doug FLutie, I just don't see the similarities other than that they are about the same size and race.  The reason the scouts look for tall QB's is so they can see over the tall OL and DL, not even sure how Brees sees the field in the NFL, he is just gifted like that. K. Moore may have that, but more than likely he does not. IMHO.

NYB,

I am a big fan of Boise State and Kellen Moore so I'm biased!Surprised

Looking at the Steelers right now I'm thinking that OT has got to be their biggest need on the team.  Who isn't thinking the same thing, right?  They drafted Gilbert and he looks like he has potential. We all know what Scott is (a big warm body) and that there is nothing promising behind these two on the line.  At this point in the college season does it appear that there will be enough depth at OT for the Steelers to take an OT without reaching if they end up drafting in the back end of the draft.
