GO NINERS!    I don't care much for either team, but I do really enjoy watching Colin Kaepernick play. He was awesome at Nevada and nothing much has changed, besides those tats....I'm sure if the 49ers win, there will be a new tattoo on the horizon for CK.

Another reason I want SF to win is the simple fact that it'll irratate the Steelers fans to see a team go 6-0 in SB's and eclipse them!Laughing

prediction.......SF  30, Bal 27

The Modell band wagon has left the building. If the Niners can nail this thing down, I think the Modell outcry will die a natural and just death.

I am tired of the "Ray is God" shtick. I respect his NFL career for the football he played, but I can never excuse his involvement in the deaths his boyz? were a part of.

I don't wish ill on anyone, so I just want to see the Niners put them away, and embarass Ray's D. Let his final game be one he will always regret, as a black mark that tarnishes his halo.

I thought about addressing them, and then I thought back over the years and HOW MANY TIMES I explained it to ignorant defenders...They say they were here in 1994, which I am not questioning, but their heads were OBVIOUSLY stuck in the sand, because their "details" are never accurate...
The day I need you to explain anything to me about the city of Cleveland or consider me to be "ignorant" iin comparison to your all-knowledgeable self, I'll off myself.  I was here in 1994, I have been here since the early 70s.  I read the newspapers (Plain Dealer AND Sun Press) and saw multiple TV broadcasts on a DAILY basis.  So just how are your details anymore accurate than mine?  Do you even live in the city, anywhere close even?

As for you LBG....If you had any inclination of writing about anything true, you would realize this isn't his first ballot...He simply has been voted down consistently every year. He made it to this point one other time, in 2002, and he was put back in his place in history which is NOT in the HOF.
Whatever the hell ballot it was, it is the first one after his death.   And as far as putting hinm back in his place, that is ridiculously laughable.  It is a sheer numbers game, plain and simple.  I know your bias and hatred would love to have you led to believe that the case, but I assure you it isn't.  Hell, Bill Parcells just was elected for the first time. Eddie DeBartolo hasn't come any closer either and last I checked he had a dynasty.  But again nice try in spinning an argument to suit your agenda.  So please point out to me where I constantly write untruths, I would love to see an example.  I am sorry if you have so much time on your hands and you never make "mistakes" but aggain I am not into petty ass arguments or anal about statistics and the like.  Complete fabrications however I will not be accused of and take lightly.  Oh and btw sorry about the delay to your post, but I haven't been on here in days.

LBG, Art Modell sucks! Plenty of appropriate places for the "Modell" sympathizers to co-miserate.  I would think the freakin DPL would be about the last place to ever come run that horsechit. You had to know that wasn't going to be a popular stance...  And don't act liked that fat basterd was so noble. Bottom line: He got a better stadium deal in a different city.  So he uprooted a cornerstone franchise in this league and broke the hearts of millions of loyal supporters...There was such backlash that it forced the NFL to promise the city of Cleveland a new team upon completion of the new stadium (one that was in the works for Art anyway), and also forced that fat phuque to leave it all behind!  Not sure if you are aware of this, but that is unprecedented in the history of proffessional franchise moves.......All the records. All the incredible team history, and most importantly, the colors!  EVERYTHING.  He had to leave it behind in the faithfull city that supported his team with an absolute passion for all those years...If he ever gets in the HoF, then the HoF loses all credibility in my book...He gave up the HoF when he took the $$$$ and ran to Baltimore.  That trumps any and all good he ever did for this league......
Hate to break it to you, but I don't go getting al lbent out of shape because of the title of a thread.  I state my opinions and belifs no matter where the hell I am at in real life or cyber space.  I will not be told when and where to respond to lunacy.  I did absolutely know it wouldn't be popular and last I checked I wasn't running in a popularity contest.  There was no intentions of "stirring the pot" as you seem to imply.  Yes, he got a better stadium deal in a different city.  And your point is what?  Cleveland had first dibs.  Your backlash had influence no doubt, but guess wqhat you forced nothing.  The National Football League didn't HAVE to do ish.  They chose to influence Art to give up the colors and history.  Guess what, Art could have taken them with him regardless of what you might wish to believ to be true.  Did Art Modell look like he shed a tear by not getting the colors and name that he basically created?  If you believe yes you kid only yourself.  The fact that you consider the Browns a cornerstone franchise at the time of their departure I'll chalk up to a compliment to Art Modell.  We thank you and say carry on.

You really think the City of Cleveland has such influence on billionaires?  HA.  They could have left the City of Cleveland high and dry gone about their lives and left you all to cry.  They had absolutely ZERO pressure from you, but please by all means continue to believe it to be the opposite.  Oh and as for the last phrase, and this is where it gets tricky.....Do you guys realize where the hell the Hall of Fame is?!  Hate to break it to you but their are only 32 owners in the league, and guess what Art Modell knew all of them. There wouldn't even be a damn Hall of Fame in Canton without he and his partners deciding to put it in Ohio.  Guess who rallied the sentiment and consideration in Ohio's favor?  Okay maybe between Art Modell and the owner of the Benglas can split credit.  They could have dropped that bia anywhere in the upper 48.  Don't for a second go thinking that he is departed from that situation for a second.  I know it makes you feel better to believe you have some kind of power in things when it comes to professional sports.  And I want that for you I really do, but the realism is that isn't the case.  Your opinions don't matter and your votes don't count for ish, not to be too harsh. He may not have gotten in this year, but he is getting in, make no mistake.  And now I'm done!

LBG ..Your a Cowchip fan your opinion means chit to me . since you have such a crush on the rat bastage why arent you a Rats fan then ?
And the same can be said of your opinion when it comes to me.  I am not a Ravens fan because I was born and bred IN CLEVELAND.  How about you?

even after the move the dumbazz had to sell the Rats because he was broke. good thing for Rats fans as that weird kid of his doesnt own them .
And that is where you are completely and utterly wrong. So wrong that I am literally LMAO.  He sold the Ravens to make money as all other products and companies do regularly.  How long exactly is a man supposed to own a professional football team?  No man lives forever and he knew it.  And I won't speak on his sons, but who says they wanted to run a professional frnachise?  You people run on
nothing but speculation and emotion like women.  As they say believe half of what you see and even less of what you hear.

Stay the hell off this thread LBG ..Your a troll
Oh I get it, I'm a troll now because your lady parts got hurt for a second.  Or is it the fact that I actually dared to disagree on a subject?  It seems that is the case as has been pointed out by other random posters.  It is a agree and no room for discention thread?  Sorry but last I checked this was America and I am not yelling fire in a theater. It's a damn thread, calm the hell down.

So all of a sudden, it was "Cleveland government offers to renovate Municipal instead of a new stadium for the Browns"...Not EXACTLY what happened..That was the compromise for Modell wanting no part of financial responsibility. They would renovate on the cities dime and he would continue his sweetheart deal of taking in the game day proceeds...MINUS of course the Indians...

His debt did not make this possible, so he sold his Cleveland soul and the rest is history...

KNOW the background if you are going to decide to take this to another thread...because once it is out of the solitude of the lounge, you will get even more retractors to your "theory"...

Oh you mean like half the teams in the NFL have done since.  Oh I get ya now. So he was an innovator in that aspect to of cities helping or sharing a good part of the financial burden of building a new stadium.  Yeah ridiculous to suggest that an owner not come completely out of his pocket to fund the whimsy of local residents.

You know lbg, I will admit I had one of my usual posts in queue and received an error..so to your benefit this will be short..Obviously not going to change your mind on the subject, so to be honest I don't care any longer. The voters saw it exactly the way I do in that he isn't in the top ten worthy, let alone a real candidate. What I can say is that I don't even see the Ravens team as his any more as I was less than affected by last night's outcome. I was just happy to watch such a good game in the end. Maybe I am in fact healing after all these years...

Happy Super Bowl Hangover MondayLounge HoundzCool

(_)>==============

A little hair of the DAWG and another donation for the Bluezhound defense fund...

Crazy Crex’s Musings:

The Good, the Bad, the Ugly, Super Bowl Weekend:

The Good:

Art Modell failed to make the first cut for selection into the HOF.  Ding Dong…Laughing
So let's all put anything and everything AM behind us and not speak of this topic again.  I for one am over it.

The big game reminded me of some good old fashioned AFCN smash mouth football with a modern twist. Watching the big guys battle in the trenches all day was enjoyable.  I'd read and heard that even the 49ers resembled a team that hailed from the AFCN. and it showd yesterday.  Reminded me of some of those epic Steeler/Browns battles once upon a time.

Even better was Ray Lewis’s age show on the field, several times he was caught flat footed and frozen in space.  I believe he had more missed tackles than he did tackles. Good riddance I say, hopefully we won’t have to endure all the Ray love(VOMIT) any longer…  Well at least until he comes up for HOF selection.Tongue out

The Bad:

The Dirty Rotten Chicken Turds won…YellCryYell

The Ugly:

The Commercials, I generally unimpressed with any of the commercials. There was one or two I did like, but overall the advertising
industry flopped big-time. Boring...

The Ravens team that won yesterday has and had nothing resembling the team that left in 1995.  That was Ozzie’s team with his fingerprints all over it.  Sorry OZ man you are NOT a Cleveland Brown any more, you’re a DRCT.

Even uglier is that they were the better team yesterday.  That is our measuring stick folks.

 “It’s over:
We’re instituting a 24-hour rule on this one. Wallow in self-pity for a day, and then be done with it.”  Tony Grossi

I agree whole heartedly.   Let us as fans slam the door behind us on that ugly chapter that was Art Modell and his DRCTs.  Let us instead open a new chapter on a brighter more hopeful future for the Browns, their fans, and the city of Cleveland.

Despite the fact I am not very excited about the Browns at this point there is potential.  It will be up to the new regime that is in Cleveland to dmonstrate that they will have a product to get excited about.  I'm optomistcally on the sidelines unitl then.

One more round before I go.

I noticed the same thing...The economy has caught up with advertising. This had to have been the single worst Network gross Super Bowl in years, possible a decade or better.

Anyone notice how much "fill-in" time was spent on CBS programming? You mean to tell me a network would bump a 2.5M commercial spot to "PAY" for it's own networks TV shows? Nope, it was a lack of takers for that kind of money imho.

As did the low quality of those few sponsors willing to pay the money, they obviously were also saving money on the ones who produced the spots...

What gets me is that Pepsi was one of the major sponsors of the game and THE sponsor of the half time show, yet I don't remember a single breakout commercial from them, anyone else?

There were a couple of decent ones overall, but no "water cooler" ones imho.

IDK, Irish . . .

The Taco Bell spot was really funny (especially at MY age) and the Clydesdale pony was pretty good as well.

Almost puked during the Go Daddy spot.  (Did anyone else think that Danica Patrick was way more hot than Bar Rafaeli?)

Yes, I liked both Lym and they were the ones that stood out...But there certainly weren't 8-10 like in years past that many were debating as their favorite...

As for Go Daddy? I am a sucker for dark dark hair, Danica is hot no matter who she is standing next to!

But that commercial most certainly was ONLY for shock factor...it is being talked about for sure, but that is because every prays they never see it again..

Liked the Pony, liked the Montana stain - Raven revenge (funny), hated SF going down.

Thought Jim got outcoached by John.

Thought penalties really hurt SF, startikng with play #1 20 yd pass called back, then Balt misses on 3rd and 9, but interference allows them a TD on next play. The football Gods had spoken.

Thought it was embarassingly funny how they consistently passed over Dan Marino during the "lites out" segment. Finally allowed him to speak once when the cameras were focussed elsewhere. Kinda weird.

Thought the officials really swallowed their whistles, and nearly lost control of the game. How does a player shove a ref, and stay on the field?

Thought Kapernick got rattled, and lost confidence at one point, but made a couple runs and got his mojo back.

Thought Ravens did a remarkable job of keeping the Kapernick factor contained.

Thought SF recievers could have been better, didn't make catch that wasn't "right there". A Boldin should coach WRs on how to box out and "take" the ball away.

Thought the 2nd half kick off was too low from the second he struck it, and they pulled up in coverage.

Thought SF's most embarassing moment occured in allowing the punter to run off 8 secs on the safety, dumb, dumb, dumb.

Couldn't believe Kap called "time out" on a first down in the second half at or across midfield...... WTF****

Thought Jim was going to give birth to a puppy when he did that.

Thought it was an entertaining Super Bowl,

Thought that if SF won the Raven nation would never stop believing it was a Browns fan who cut the power.

I was in NJ, but I can't speak for others.
