Hi Reggie, I'm CL. We have alot in common then.

"hi CL, i'm Turnip. i'm a loser AND a weak-kneed wimp. i try to impress starngers on a sports site that i have more than just the 2 brain cells God provided me with. oh and i'm a front running, team switching barfbag. they say confession is good for the soul, but this is just the tip of the iceberg for how putrid and disgusting an individual i TRULY am"...Cry

there there, Turnip. don't cry. it isn't like we didn't already know these things. but you're correct, admission IS the first step...Innocent

"i wonder if any current Laker players have been arrested and had charges filed. " I wonder if the iternet is down in L.A.?? Jefe, CL??  Crickets. "No more nonchalant Beasley, I'm back in beast mode" At least for one night, against that tremendous Laker defense

damn, Turnip sure misses me a lot. i wonder if the arrogant waste has a secret he's trying to reveal...nevermind, i'd rather NOT know that...

and Bustley's STILL a weedhead bust. another case of blind squirrel. but then he HAS to be a loser, i mean, YOU like him...

So even though I'm Reggie Evans and I'm not smarter than a 5th grader, I just had a moment of clarity . . . That Yahoo article says that the NBAs goal is to make it so franchises can be completely mismanaged and still make money. If that is the case, the fans in every city should revolt. There is not another business in America where you can intentionally mismanage and make money. If that is Stern's goal, we should sue. What a phuking joke. I'm not just saying that b/c I'm a Heat fan. If LeBron wants to go back to Cleveland, wants to go to LA, or even wants to go play in Milwaukee, that's up to him. I don't begrudge players for making as much as they can during their relatively short careers. If anyone, however, supports a system where teams can be intentionally mismanaged and yet the system still allows them to make money, then the fans are even dumber sheep than I thought.

Really? Go look at the huge golden parachute contracts and buyouts that CEOs get after being fired for running companies into the ground. Go do some research into what Carly Fiorina was paid to go away as CEO of Hewlett-Packard.

You can ask your fellow laker fans in here... Im not the one to attack the Lakers for off the court things...except bynum parking in handicap spots..  that was just funny/sad.

seriously though... as a laker fan, you really shouldnt talk about other players legal troubles.   chris anderson was talked to by police, never arrested, never charged.   he was the victim of extortion.  a fan he turned down turned him in for pictures she emailed him.  cops searched his stuff, he didnt have anything.

it's not like he is an accused rapist or anything.

Just a side issue about bragging rights -

The original Browns franchise is finally going to a superbowl as the Baltimore Ravens.  It's no big deal but I think the team's record in their current city is what counts, not the other cities the franchise might have been in before moving around.  Kind of a moot point in the NBA as the Celtics still hold the record for titles.

Now what is really a reach is to label the Heat's current title with an asterisk for circumstances completely beyond thier control.  It counts, like it or not.  That said, it'd be great to get one in a full season!

Other than the butchering of the word "their", I couldn't have said this better myself!

Not a full season = asterisk.  It's not like it's a bad thing, it just is what it is - it still counts...but not quite like the rest of them.

The reason it's significant where the Heat are concerned is that it represents the only the franchise's second title - and the only one at the hands of the "Three Kings"...which is also why the unsavory prospect of "One And Done" resonates so much to both Heat fans and Heat Haters alike.

soooooo...who y'all got in the Super Bowl...?

i'm an AFC/AFL guy myself. and even though the Ravens/Browns had NFL roots they are representing that conference, so i'll root for them to win it all...

The Ravens won a Super Bowl in 2001 over the New York Giants.

Not a full season = asterisk

Not a full playoff = asterisk. The playoff format was the same as it was the season before last and the one before that etc...etc...

Of course the playoff format was the same, why would it be changed? That would've just made a bad situation worse!

I still remember when the Spurs got a title in a short season and said the same about them.  they made everyone forget about it with other titles.  we will see if the Heat can do the same thing.

Because for some reason you seem to think that since the regular season was shortened by 16 games, there wasn't a need to win 16 games to win the championship. That's what Miami did. They won 16 games in the postseason and beat the team who practically swept the Western conference in 5 games.

The time an asterisk is needed in sports is referring to records and such. Like when Roger Maris broke Babe Ruth's single season HR record. Maris needed 162 games to get HR number 61 while Ruth needed just 154 to hit 60.

Better understanding now? Titles aren't won in the regular season.
