Hahaha...so because of my retarded comments I have forced you to become Heat fans...I call you Heat fans because you root for the Heat...Lebron was like second in all star voting I think your quest to repair his honor is no longer needed...I say accept your fandom and stop beating around the bush...I would take you more serious if you stopped saying "I'm not a Heat fan" or "I'm a Philly fan but" then go into talking about Bronny and the Heat...and twocoach I don't know much about you but it's safe to say you are looking for a reason to hide your bandwagonism as well...

It's so pathetically childish that it's amusing.
twocoach, nothing is more amusing that seeing a couple of shiftless "NBA fans" like you and realdeal gravitate towards the Lebron and the Miami Heat while expounding your lame views here in the "Heat Haters" club board (like they need your support) in an effort to try an combat Heat hatred!  How perfectly and hilariously quixotic of you!

"and twocoach I don't know much about you but it's safe to say you are looking for a reason to hide your bandwagonism as well... "

Eh, what? What exactly am I hiding? I have been very clear about the fact that I only cheer for Miami for three reasons:

1) I like Mario Chalmers because he hit one of the greatest shots in Kansas basketball history

2) I root for LeBron James to play well because he is a great player who is fun to watch and has his crap together off the court despite how rare it is for an athlete to do so after being hyped to that level from a very early age.

3) Fans of other teams (not just the Lakers) have turned into babbling psycopaths on the topic of James and have shown the very essence of the ignorant "mob mentality" that runs rampant in the world of stupid people.

Since I was not a fan of Miami before James went there, that makes me a bandwagon fan. I have no problem admitting that and have made no effort to hide that fact. I have zero problem with it at all as the term "bandwagon fan" is usually just thrown around by other fans as a lame attempt at a put down. I could not care less about why people cheer for who they cheer for.

And honestly, I just enjoy a good message board argument from time to time. I'll support any team in an argument just to argue against an idiot. Although this group of "Haters" has gotten a bit tiresome as they go on and on with the same lame material. It's like watching the same funny movie 100 times in a row. After while, it's just not entertaining any more.

Well then we are all managing to entertain each other. Mission accomplished. And I have no delusions of combating Heat hatred. It's like trying to talk someone into stopping being racist. They have their ridiculous reasons for what they believe that they have convinced themselves to be true, so they feel not only justified, but empowered to continue to feel the way they do.

Comparing hating a basketball team or a player to racism, seems a bit over the top.

We are all fans and we like/dislike teams and players for reasons that are generally fairly unique to each of us. My reasons for liking or disliking certain teams or players is likely different than others who like/dislike the same team or player. The reasons behind it need only make sense to that indivdual fan.

Example: I have a friend who used to be a Laker fan. He stopped being a Laker fan in the late 80's. His reason? They won too much. Now, as a die-hard Laker fan since I was 8 years old, this is the dumbest reason that I can think of to stop being a fan of a team. However, it made perfect sense to him. Outside of razzing him about it from time to time, ultimately his reason is his reason and not for me to judge.

Nah, it's more towards what TrojanFan stated. Everyone has their own reasons for feeling how they do. Those reasons, while they may seem idiotic to someone else, are what they are and are very unlikely to change. When dealing with opinions, there is no right or wrong.

I may think my opinion is more based on reason, ration and level-headed objectivity than yours, but I do not feel that EITHER of us are right or wrong. MOST fans make their choices to like or not like things based on irrational reasoning. It's part of the fun of fandom.

And people's negative reaction to "The Decision" is the most over the top ridiculousness I have ever seen in my 40 years of being a sports fan.

twocoach...REALLY?  Are you sure you're not confusing "The Decision" with "over the top ridiculousness", as opposed to the negative reaction against it?  Listen, Lebron has certainly done a lot to repair his image since the inanity of that summer of 2010, but to dismiss the almost universal negative reaction to "The Decision" not just by basketball fans, but pretty much anyone and everyone who was aware of it as "over the top ridiculousness" is a little surprising, even from you!

Perhaps!! But racism?!? People's reaction to "The Decision" (and there's more to it than just "The Decision") may be over the top, but who was actually hurt as a result of it?

As Lebron himself said, the rest of us have to go back to our sad, dreary little lives while he still gets to live his awesome life (Of course I know this isn't exactly what he said, just having a little fun with what he did say).Tongue out

Racism actually hurts people, while people's reaction to The Decision hurt no one (except perhaps Lebron's feelings). Additionally, a person who is the victim of racism is being victimized for something that they have no control over. Lebron. on the other hand, did have control over whether or not he did "The Decision". So, over the top or not, he brought the reaction upon himself.

What jefe said.

And unlike racism, there are many rational reason why fans hate certain teams, like long standing rivaleries (Yankees/Redsox, Dodgers/Giants, Lakers Celtics) cross town rivals, getting beaten by a team repeatedly, players on teams turning off fans because of their antics and off the court (Raiders of old, Heat), envious of their success (Yankees, Lakers, thought this doesn't apply to the fan of a team who it turned off by their own team's success).

MOST fans make their choices to like or not like things based on irrational reasoning. It's part of the fun of fandom.
Likewise, MOST fans don't make their choice of what team they like base on irrational reasoning.  Most is out of proximity to and a connection to the team in some sort of way, such as living in the same area, going to the school, or family members, usualy parents, being fans of that team or going to that school.  Feeling connected and wanting to be connected to something close to you and feeling apart of their achievement is pretty normal and rational.

Lebron wasnt't the most loved player before The Decision, and as it got closer to his announcement, people became more and more annoyed with the spectacle of having owners come and beg for him at his doorstep (intstead of taking the spectacle far away from Cleveland).  But just when people thought the over the top spectacle could get any crazier, he topped himself with The Decision.  And if he didn't notice the reaction to it the next day, someone should have told him, because the The Celebration" was just pouring salt on his already wounded image.

the Heat are going to need to consolidate their asterisk title in order for it to really mean anything and stand up

Jefe, what advantage did Miami have last year over all other teams to give their title an asterisk? What was different about the postseason last year compared to other past postseasons that gave Miami an edge over all playoff teams?

If a player misses 25 games during the regular season yet plays all postseason and goes on to win a title, does it need to be noted that he played less than 82 games and his ring is not legit?

J_D, I realize this is a sensitive topic for you so I'll try to keep this as simple as possible.  It's not about having gained some sort of advantage over any and all other teams that makes the title one marked by an asterisk - it's simply about the fact that the postseason and championship won came on the heels of a lockout shortened season - it's a stigma, that's all.

The Spurs dealt with the very same thing back in '99 (following the last lockout shortened season) when they won their first title - people (including Phil Jackson) marginalized it - it is what it is, no need to get all bent out of shape about it.

Having said that, and to their credit, the Spurs consolidated this asterisk title, and cemented their stature as one of the truly elite teams in the league, by going on to win additional titles in the Tim Duncan era in '03, '05 and '07...and that's why nodody chides them for the asterisk title - their first - in '99.

So, therein lies the rub with this godforsaken "Yes.We.Did" Heat team, and the fact that it two seasons to get their first championship, Lebron's first - it just so happen to come on the heels of an unfortunate and extremely rare lockout shortened season...the onus is now on them to back it up with another one just to prove that it wasn't just a fluke of circumstance.

I truly believe that this Heat team lacks the wherewithal to back up their * title with another one this season and/or next - I just don't think they have it in 'em - too much "doinking" going on in South Beach these days.  And, rest assured, if the Heat fail to consolidate this season or next season, LeBron is as good as gone - and that's when you can officially kiss "Yes.We.Did" goodbye.

and simple jefe is trying his jealous best to put an asterisk on our championship. no bosh, not a 100 percent wade and lebron playing with cramps. the rest of the teams had severe injuries like the Bulls due to the common back to back games in a shortened season. whereas simple jefe's felonious fakers were failures because of immaturity, violence and drama.

leave him to his devices, since all he can do, with his similarly senile pals, is reminisce about the good ol' days of yore when the fakers were champions. it looks like most of these faker fans are no more than grumpy old men clinging to those championships quickly becoming nothing more than a memory. meanwhile they are oblivious to the fact that the fakers have no youth or future.

it's simply about the fact that the postseason and championship won came on the heels of a lockout shortened season - it's a stigma, that's all.

An asterisk in sports denotes an advantage gained over other competition. That much is fact.
The Spurs dealt with the very same thing back in '99 (following the last lockout shortened season) when they won their first title - people (including Phil Jackson) marginalized it - it is what it is, no need to get all bent out of shape about it.

Spurs playing the giant underdog Knicks in 1999 is not even close to the competitiveness going into last seasons Finals. I'm sure Phil would have said the same if the Lakers had won it all that year, right? It wouldn't be considered a 4 peat right? Clear case of him being butthurt and trolling at the time.

The Heat were 2 games away the previous season from winning it all and that took James not playing up to par. So how was last seasons just a 'fluke'. Especially since they beat OKC who steamrolled the 'mighty' Western Conference to get to th Finals. After the WCF and ECF were decided and without looking it up I'd say that OKC was probably favored before game 1 tip-off.

If the Heat had lost last season, would you accept the excuse from Heat fans that it was due to the shortened regular season?
