The trade for Zimm actually didn't work out. I ended up trading Avila for Victorino and Arenciba for Neil Walker. I am working on a trade to get Michael Young for one of my pitchers. I'm keeping Santana (1B) and Mauer (C) with Molina as a backup.
Getting Victorino for Avila was pretty good value I think. I needed OF help too and Avila is definitely behind Santana and Mauer (as long as he's healthy).
Their lineup will force pitchers to throw strikes to Avila. He did get beat up last year playing nearly every game down the stretch, but at 25, he's young enough yet where he could do that. Easily top 5 catcher production from a guy who is being passed over for bigger names.
I know its only spring training, but am I the only one worried about how bad this guy is doing? Again, I know its only spring training, but he really only had one good year, and even that wasn't AMAZING (yes I'm aware he was an all star). I didn't really want him but I waited forever on a catcher and got him. You guys pretty confident hell have a nice year? 20-25 dingers reasonable?
if u get 20 bombs and around a 300 avg with 70 plus rbi's ur ahead of the game at catcher. i got avila in the 11th and im fine with it. beyond santana whos avg wont be great i am fine with the top 9 catchers. none of them i think are great beyond santana
avila is solid man this guy can hit breezed through the minors in two years got to the majors and is already making his mark id take avila over victorino or montero and i own montero

im not giving up on him yet. i have santana too. so i have big Al on my bench. but he will prob be the next player i drop if he cant turn it around within the next couple weeks then it may br time to cut ties.
