Maybe include a disclaimer?

"These rankings are for entertainment purposes only and are not intended to help anybody."
I think my disclaimer should be more like follows.

The Foot's rankings could make or break your season. But there is a greater chance it will make it. In either case like Planet Patrol said, "Play at your own risk!"

Couple things.

Foot, the statement you made about making or breaking your season is an interesting one. Because in two seasons here on the MRBBL your teams have not done well. Some of your picks have. But not your team as a whole. I don't want to list all of the factors that may work against a fantasy owner (because there are many), but while most of us reading this would like to think it is based on our skill, much of it actually depends on weekly circumstances (i.e. luck).

I feel that I can say this truthfully and have it not come off as a harsh criticism, because my teams here on the MRBBL have not done well either. My point is that successful fantasy teams need more than "that one sleeper candidate" or "break out" player - fantasy teams need balance.

Look at some of the names from our MRBBL champ, Fuzzy's team: Brees, Dwyer, Forte, Bryant, Decker, Hilton, Hernandez, Seahawks, Gostkowski. Look at runner-up Lefty's team: Rodgers, Bradshaw, Gore, Cobb, Moore, Wayne, Scheffler, Packers, Hanson. Not too many big (or do you prefer "elite") names on either squad. I don't believe either team could boast having "the top fantasy player" at any given position. But both teams were balanced.
My next point:

Joe Flacco. I realize he may be the "flavor of the month" after winning the Super Bowl. I still don't have him as a top 5 QB. But I'd be willing to bump him up to a top 10 for 2013. Why? Because of OC Jim Caldwell. With Cam Cameron as the OC (13 games), Flacco averaged 248 yards-per-game and 1.3 TD-per-game. When Caldwell took over as OC (6 games, not counting the Bengals game), Flacco's yards-per-game (obviously, including the playoffs) jumped to 284 and his TD-per-game almost doubled at 2.5.

By the same token (and forgive me since I didn't do the math), but I believe Ray Rice's numbers went down as the offense became more pass-oriented under Caldwell. Food for thought for 2013.

I do think Flacco will do better next year. Since there are like 15 guys in the top 10 already, I guess a 16th won't hurt anything.

Joe that's a good point about there being no elite guys unless you count Brees and Rodgers.

Sorry to go off topic here (breaking one of my own posting rules) but I just wanted to inform you, my MBBRL breathren, that ole Lefty has retired after 33years as a Fire Protection Engineer at America's Spaceport (KSC).  The demise of the Shuttle program with no replacement (future mission) had a lot to do with my decision.  There are, and will continue to be, major concerns over funding - although my position was not in immediate jepardy.  I just figured it was time to move over and perhaps save one of the younger guys their job - at least for a while.  Besides, my 'fun meter' had simply pegged out - what is going on out there now, is just depressing.
Anyway, the long and short is that I'll probably be posting more and can devote more time to MWHS.  That is, between working off the massive list of things my wife has for me, fishing & travel. ..... Lefty of Relaxation?

Lefty congrats. Sorry to hear about the way things have gone with the space mission. On the bright side now you'll be able to sleep in, stay up late and whatch old movies, and focus in on the off season moves. I am ready to take MWHS to the next level glad to see you're with me. It's time we made a name for ourselves in the business that we all love. I just keep thinking how great it is going to be to be able to make a living playing a game. Plus I've had it with copy cats. I'm hearing high profile figures use our termonology and I fell 100 percent certian they stole it from us.

I mean it is posible it has trickled up but some where along the line someone copied it from here.

Soon that won't be a factor or a concern no mo! Wait till you see what i have planned for our site.

Well, Lefty, I'm jealous. Believe it or not, I'm retired. Spent 32 years at Alcatel-Lucent until our division was moved to Ottawa, ON. Consequently, I was forced to retire in 2009. I do collect a decent pension. But certainly not enough to STAY retired. So I work for the awful, poorly managed U.S. Postal Service. As a non-employee, they treat me like KC fans treated Matt Cassel. As much as I'd love to leave for another company, no one seems to be hiring. Very depressing to say the least. Certainly not the way I pictured my retirement.

Sorry all. Hope I didn't bring everybody down? Especially Lefty.

Just for s's & G's-- I'll toss my top ten fantasy rankings out there..these are by no means what I'm wanting to use for next years rankings, but just for fun.

Qb's
  1. Brees
  2. Rodgers
  3. Brady
  4. Kap's
  5. P. Manning
  6. M. Ryan
  7. R. Wilson
  8. Cam
  9. Stafford
  10. Dalton/Romo/Flacco
Yes, I don't think RGIII plays in more than eight games, and if Shanny has half a brain left, he won't be running him much regardless.

Rb's-
  1. Foster
  2. Peterson
  3. Lynch
  4. Richardson
  5. Rice
  6. D. Martin
  7. McCoy
  8. Spiller
  9. Alf. Morris
  10. CJ2K
Gonna have to re-evaluate the Eagles situation after they have decided on Vick/Foles/??? at QB, maybe Shady can manuever his way back into the top five.  And I'm of the opinion that Gore's little resurgence was a one and done type of deal..LaMichael James is around, and Gore just keeps getting older.

WR's-
  1. AJ Green
  2. Calvin Johnson
  3. Dez Bryant
  4. B. Marshall
  5. Julio Jones
  6. D. Thomas
  7. R. Cobb
  8. E. Decker
  9. Torrie Smith
  10. Victor Cruz
Magical third year for AJ Green (and Andy Dalton).  The Cowboys will win or lose based on how many catches Bryant has, and Denver trashes the run game all together after McGahee goes down agian.

TE's-
  1. Jimmy Graham
  2. Gronk
  3. Vernon Davis
  4. Pitta
  5. Greshem
  6. A. Hernandez
  7. G. Olsen
  8. Gates
  9. O Daniels
  10. K. Rudolph
I strongly beleive Vernon Davis makes a huge bounce back after getting a full offseason with Kap's, and the guy was a top five TE with the bad Alex Smith (not even the good Alex Smith!!).  And Pitta gets even better as Torrie Smith and Jacoby Jones empty out the safeties more and more.  This is all dependant on Gonzo not returning..if he does, I slot him at #3 and Rudy falls off.

treff nicly done! I exspecially love the Kap's pick. Can you elaborate on what you see in Kaps that make him ranked so high. As you know I think he'll be number 1 this year but i would love to hear your break down on him. I'mhoping Torry Smith has a big year cuase I think they will stick with passing game more going forward. Jacoby Jones could be a deep sleeper. I think Crabtree will be a top ten guy too.

Nice Treff.

Here's how I see them in February:

QB
1) Brees; 2) Rodgers; 3) Brady; 4) P. Manning; 5) Newton; 6) Ryan; 7) Stafford; 8) Kaeps; 9) E. Manning; 10) Big Ben

My feeling is that 1-4 have proven to be steady, bankable QB's. It would be crazy to insert anyone else there. Can't believe I put Newton up at 5. But he's been a steady QB after 2 seasons as well. The bottom 5 will probably be shuffled until August.

RB
1) Peterson; 2) Foster; 3) Charles; 4) McCoy; 5) Rice; 6) Martin; 7) Lynch; 8) Morris; 9) MJD; 10) Foot’s Boy (CJ)

Same scenario. Pretty confident about 1-5. Will probably adjust 6-10 by August. I like Lynch, but he plays like a hockey goalie - great one season, average the next. And it was a stretch to put Chris Johnson at 10. Sorry Foot. If you subtract his 2K season, he's only averaged 1220 yards-per-season. I think it's time to stop expecting another 2K year.

WR
1) Marshall; 2) Calvin J.; 3) Demaryius T.; 4) Bryant; 5) White; 6) Green; 7) Julio Jones; 8) Crabtree; 9) Andre J.; 10) Welker

I like my 1-2 picks. Marshall may be a homer pick. But if he can excel under a poor Bears offense under Lovie, I expect more from him under offensive-minded Trestman. Guy's I'm watching to bump up that are not on this list: A) Fitzgerald - waiting to see who Reid picks as his QB; and B) Jennings - to see if he sticks with the Pack or moves on.

TE
1) Graham; 2) Witten; 3) Gronk; 4) Olsen; 5) Pitta; 6) Rudolph; 7) Vernon D.; 8) Heath M.; 9) Greshem; 10) Myers

1-3 are locks. The rest may be shuffled between now and August, but probably will stay in the top 10.

Foot- I don't have any "magical" insight as to why I think Keap's has a big year.  Just the way he can throw a ball, run the ball, usually doesn't take the big hit, all wrappe dup with a full offseason to be installed as the starter and not inserting his brand of offense on the fly...the sky is truly the limit for this guy, and I wouldn't be shocked at all if he ends up higher.  now, I don't feel that he'll be a long term elite QB, becuase a lot of his value is based on his legs, and the Niners don't have the recieving corp to lift him up any higher than where he's already at.
As for Crabtree, it was difficult choice between he, Cruz, T. Smith and Decker..but I'm just not really sure he'll be there..but again, wouldn't shock me in the slightest to see him there.
And truth be told..I forgot to place Andre Johnson in there..my bad.  So my own rankings would actually knock Cruz out of the top ten, and slide Andre in at five.

Joe--Isn't the Card's coach Bruce Arians?  and is there an option out there that would vualt Fitzgerald into the top ten?  Not in my estimation.  I don't think Matt Flynn is any better than Kevin Kolb, and he's probably the best name that being tossed around out there.  maybe Alex Smith could elevate him back to elite status..but that's a big if.

I somewhat overlooked Charles..can't put my finger on it as to why, but I didn't mention him on purpose..guess I'm not sold on Andy Reid using him as a feature back, that and they, like the Card's, have QB issues that could stiffle whatever Charles can do.  MJD is about done in my book, that bone on bone knee, plus whatever his leg/foot issue was for over half of last eyar..I just don't see him getting it done any longer, at least not consistantly.  But I'm right there with ya on CJ?K, it was a stretch to put him in at ten, and I almost had Charles in there instead, but at least it seems as though TENN will be keeping him, and he's proven enough that the job is still his for the time being, so I guess I'll roll with him at #10.
Shocked at you placement of Witten though, any reasoning behind that one?  being a Cowboys fan, I'd love to agree, but I just see him slowing down and the TD's are awfully few and far between the past few years.
And, like you mentioned..those bottom five, at all positions, are likely to be shuffled all the way up till D-day

My bad. Should've known to double-check instead of guessing off the top of my head.
and is there an option out there that would vualt Fitzgerald into the top ten?  Not in my estimation.
Well, the Cards 2012 QB situation was an absolute disaster. If Alex Smith leaves SF for either the Cards or Chiefs, that would be an upgrade for those clubs. The other thing is personell/coaching. I look at the OC change the Ravens made from Cameron to Caldwell. Flacco almost seems like a different style of QB. Smith may just need the right OC too? That's how I see it.

Plus, Fitz was a top 10 WR in 2011 and 2010 with less-than-elite QB's. (Caution: talking off the top of my head again.) So he doesn't need an elite QB, just someone who can stay healthy and upright.

Shocked at you placement of Witten though, any reasoning behind that one?
Consistentcy. The guy averages 1000 yards (for the last few seasons). And in PPR leagues he gets 90 receptions a year. Ten years is not long for TE/WR. And while other TE's may be more explosive, they don't have the offense to support Witten's kind of production.

Here's how I see them in February
Nice list Joe-
-I agree with your more traditional list at QB with Brees, Rogers, Brady at the top. For fantasy, I would include Romo in there somewhere probably in place of Eli or Ben.

-Nice call on Marshall, but hard to put anyone in front of Megatron and I would rank Julio higher say #3 ahead of Demaryius.

-Not sure I can keep Hernandez off my top 10 TE list. For me he falls about 4 or 5.

In general, your lists are in line with my thinking- maybe we will be grapling over the same players in the draft?
