Thanks Wil, great work yet again. Its been a blast and the fact that a miracle can still get me in is all I need to stay hungry the next couple of weeks.

As for the rest of you Barbarians, it's been a blast. Kudos to Naughty for playing the trade market the best.

Thanks for the props, guys.

(On a side note, I managed another win in my money league, this time against the top team, so after an 0-6 start I'm back to 6-6; still tied for fourth in the league and the last playoff spot, but at a 45-point disadvantage - and that team looks like it will be tough to catch even if I somehow win out. But I'm pretty happy to be playing "meaningful games in December" after a start like that.)

The Foot Predict-o-Meter

In recognition of the difficulty in going against the grain and making a correct pick, I've relabeled Foot's "Good Calls" to "Genius Calls."

Unfortunately, he doesn't have any of those any more.

On the bright side, Cam's stellar night has made him, for this week anyway, no longer a Team Destroying Call.

Genius Calls (0)

Very Close (1)
Spiller will be a top-7 RB (crazy rating: 7)
Reality: 8th, 2 FF points out of the top 7

Still in the Running (3)
Peyton Manning will be a top-2 QB (crazy rating: 3)
Reality: 5th, 19 FF pts out of the top 2

Greene will be a top-11 RB
Reality: 18th, 22 pts out of the top 11

Demaryius Thomas will be the #1 WR (crazy rating: 6)
Reality: 5th, 34 pts out

Bad Calls (4)
Miles Austin will be a top-2 WR (crazy rating:7)
Reality: tied for 23rd, 54 pts out of the top 2

Charles will be a top-2 RB (crazy rating: 5)
Reality: 11th, 66 FF points out of the top 2

CJ2K will be the #1 RB (crazy rating: 2)
Reality: tied for 12th, 71 FF pts out

Cam Newton will be the #1 QB (crazy rating: 3)
Reality: 10th, 73 pts out

Team-Destroying Calls (4)
Flacco will be a top-3 QB (crazy rating: 9)
Reality: 15th, 87 points out of the #3 spot

Russell Wilson will be a top-4 QB (crazy rating: 8)
Reality: 18th, 99 points out of the top 4

Lamar Miller will be a top-10 RB (crazy rating: 8)
Reality: worse than 60th and way, way out

Turbin will be a top-12 RB (crazy rating: 7)
Reality: worse than 60th and way, way out

Since we have a few tight races going on (in both leagues it appears), just thought I'd remind everybody what the CBS tie-breakers were:

If there is a tie for the order of playoff seeds, the following tie-breakers will be used.

  1. Year-to-Date ("YTD") Points Scored
  2. YTD Points Against

If there is a tie for a division lead, the following tie-breakers* will be used:

  1. YTD Points Scored
  2. YTD Points Against

If there is a tie for a Wildcard spot, the following tie-breakers* will be used:

  1. YTD Points Scored
  2. YTD Points Against

If ties still remain after applying the above tiebreakers, seeding will be determined at random.

And here's a funny and strange nugget:

8 guys from the KOTF and 3 from the Barbarians are participating in the Suicide League (along with a drone), where we drafted early (the 8th of July) and are prohibited from making any moves at all - no add/drops, no trades. Obviously everybody but the drone only carries one kicker and most only carry one DST and one TE, so we just eat that position on the bye, and if too many players at one position are out because of injury or underperforming, tough luck, we eat those too.

Pretty much impossible to get consistently high scores in this league. Monkey, for example, has only 892 PF in the Suicide League, as opposed to 1246 in the Barbarians.

So do any of the eleven human owners have more PF in the Suicide League than in their other MBBRL League?

Yes. Not that surprising... I guess weird flukey things can happen and one team would somehow end up with more points because of lack of injuries in the Suicide League and terrible luck in their other league.

But it's more than one.

It's... four. Freaking FOUR out of eleven owners are doing better in the Suicide League than their regular league! That includes Hawk, despite getting no points ever from his K (Rackers was cut pre-season) and only three games out of his only TE (Hernandez); and it includes Joe, despite having Benson and Helu as his only bench RBs; and it includes TKO, despite not even carrying a backup QB; and it includes Fuzzy, despite having DeMarco, McGahee and Hillman as three of his four RBs (Fuzzy, by the way, is 7-5 in the KOTF).

And Sam and I are not that far off, with our KOTF teams better than our Suicide teams by fewer than 50 pts.

TKO, by the way, has 1206 PF in this league.

So six of us are not appreciably better - or simply worse - in a league where we can actually make moves and replace bye-week kickers and DSTs and see how pre-season shapes up before we draft. And that includes two winning KOTF teams in myself and Fuzzy.

I can explain my own team a little through Martin, who I got in the seventh in the Suicide League but felt obliged to take in the third in the KOTF draft six weeks later. But I don't see a way to account for six teams. Except that maybe our pre-draft evaluations are better than our pre-season and mid-season knee-jerk reactions.

They did have those.  Can't remember what year they got rid of them.

Kind of disappointing they don't include H2H and divison record anymore.

Wil I also thought it was interesting how few top players weren't on a roster.
I only joined this league at the last minute to make sure there would be enough to draft. But I have enjoyed this league as much as the MBBRL.

Great job as always Wil. I'll need to turn in my picks today. It will be pretty tough for me tomorrow.

TKO over Scape- I need this one.

Fuzz over DUB- Come on DUB.

Lefty over Fud- In a clash of the Titans that could go either way.

Duff over Joe- Dst wins out.

Sam over Dawg- I just like the match ups.

Wil over Foot- Foot who has become the silent minority could win this one.

As always good luck to everyone and I hope you have as much fun doing this as I do.

Wil, I feel as though I should be paying you!  Great stuff.

Pick-em Results:

Duff 45-26-1 (4-2 last week)
TKO 43-28-1 (5-1)
LOL -- the only week (aside from week 1) where I picked myself to win!

As for my Suicide League Team which is 300 points better, I have to call a little luck on the RG3 thing, but other than having Greene as my RB2, I was pretty satisfied.

The ONLY reason I didn't take AP in KOTF in round 2 is because I had already taken him in the Suicide league...went with Freddie and it went downhill from there!  Oh yeah, and did I mention I dropped Cobb?

-- quick question, are points for, or power rankings continued through the playoffs? i.e.  do my points count in weeks 14 through 16, or am I toast this week no matter what?

*** and so nobody forgets, my money league has a question for you... Michael Bush, Knowshon Moreno or Beanie Wells... need an RB2.

The regular season goes through Week 14 - after that, the four Downwardly Mobile teams will be set. As I recall, the teams that don't make the playoffs don't do anything Weeks 15 and 16 anyway.

And I'd start Moreno.

TKO,

I would go with Beanie there.  Moreno is playing against the Bucs stout run D and miserable pass D.  Beanie meanwhile faces a struggling Jets team that just got gashed.  I would consider Bush if Forte is out, but early reports say that Forte has a good chance to play this week.  If the Bears hold him out, it will likely be precautionary.

My thinking is Knowshon is a dual threat and just as likely to score via a pass. The Jets just embarassed themselves but are still professional ballplayers - I expect one of the best performances of the season from them, and Arizona is pretty one-dimensional.

Will you had me at hello. Just kidding but for real you sealed the deal as the craziest fantay football nut in a bag full of the most crazyiest of crazy nuts when you where literally updating everyones draft picks, info, stats and analysis in one hand while cradling your new born baby girl and comforting your adoring wife with the other all the while from the hospital room. Amazing my boy just simply amazing. TKO id would go with Beanie. He looked pretty fresh. Also I like Bush a lot if Forte is out - hes strong and the best part he has a lot to prove. He's hungry bear so to speak. Marino worries me cause it's crowded back there even still. Plus he has not gotten it done.

That's what I was thinking, Wil.  That's why I picked the Jets up this week in this league...gonna be a tough choice.  Haven't really looked at Forte since he went down...doesn't look too bad, that makes it easier.  I'm leaning toward the potential points with Moreno and the Broncos vs last week's TD's from Beanie going into an angry New York squad with a 3rd string QB behind the worst line in the league.

-- as for week's 15 and 16...oh well, guess I won't need Wilson in Toronto over Luck against Houston for week 15!

**
you know it's bad when there's a "hot" red note next to your player because he PRACTICED!  piss on you DMC, high, high hopes this year, down in flames!!  ain't it a shame??  when you're shot down in flames!

Speaking of AC/DC

Week 13 picks... maybe I can win something around here?

Scape TNT's TKO ... Brady, AJ and Colston are too much for this waivered team.
Fuzzy Thunderstrikes DUB ... close one here with the battle of the 2nd class RB's (unless Forte plays).
Lefty Jailbreaks Fudpuckers ... gonna be close, especially when Treff switches up Amendola.
Duff Shakes the Foundation of Joe's Mayans ... DuffBeer stock rising?
Dawg Whole Lotta Rosies Sam ... Eli's past vs the Skins hasn't been the greatest.
White Noise Shakes Foot All Night Long ... Ryan steps up in an important division game at home.

Good luck to all still in it.
