The Islanders (3-2-1) have won three straight against the Penguins dating back to last season, their longest winning streak in the series in more than five years.
Two of those victories have come on the road, something the Islanders haven’t done in Pittsburgh since 2002.
Pittsburgh (3-3) expects to be in the mix again during this truncated 48-game season, but has hit an early rough patch that left the largest crowd in the brief history of Consol Energy Center voicing its displeasure following another disjointed effort.
Hey Matty that defense looked good tonight..................GREAT WIN!touche Diver, touche.
because the Pens managed 38 shots on goal.I'd have to look at the game log, but it looked like the majority of those shots were from outside, when Nabby was already in position. I have no clue what's going on with the Penguins offensively right now. Too many turnovers, looking for that one extra pass. And the power play is mud. Of course, that could be credited to a strong defensive effort by the Islanders.
Nabokov improved to 10-2 lifetime against Pittsburgh, which went 0 for 3 on the power play, including a fruitless five minutes spanning the second and third periods after New York's Colin McDonald was hit with a boarding penalty and a game misconduct for his hit on Penguins defenseman Ben Lovejoy.
NABBY!
Isles keeping the D simple, discipline and smart, and the forechecking was relentless, Czikias is a pest, plus can score, another Garth Gem? 4th Rd Pick.
IGWT!
Just seems weird
Just seems weird to read about a teams discipline in the same post that talks about a guy getting a 5 minute major/game misconduct and than a 2 game suspension. If this isn't the most overreaction to a hit, what a crock of isht. 2 games?! First offense! Absolutely absurd, hostile ruling by the league against the Islanders.
he's right. the league hates the isles. everybody does.Because of the Dynasty. I know. Oh well, too bad for the Isles and us fans.
