The Pac-12 Thread....

Better worry about winning the bowl game. Next year won't be a rematch. It will be the start of a new season. And if you don't win the bowl, you can't win two in a row. ut if you told me I had to lose one of the games, I would rather lose the bowl game and start off next season with a win.

Tough question there really. If you knew you were going to lose one which one would you take? If you lose the bowl game it directly hurts your recruiting over the rest of the offseason, or at least won't add as much as winning it would. And you never want to start on a loss, but no one remembers that early season loss nearly as much as the late season/bowl losses so I'm not sure I'd agree with you. Starting off with a win in a big game can spark a run and setup a great season and that may be worth more than a Bowl win, but if recruiting is the main goal of CFB then losing the bowl has greater loss.

Having said that, UW should just go out and win both and not worry about it right?

Seriously, the one thing UW has going for it into next season is the setting of the game and the return of 7 or 8 of the injured players who were out this season. It will be a different look team to be sure and the setting in the launch of the new stadium will be electric and feel more like a conference game than the normal OOC crowd. I think there is at least a chance they have a different QB going into that game as well, but more on that after the end of the bowl season.

I don't know if the bowl win or loss effects recruiting. You went to a bowl so for recruiting that is a positive. Potential players sometimes look at things differently. I might get to play right away on this team. Am I interested in the past or the future. Who do we play next year and where. Haven't looked at your schedule, but something like we play Notre Dame in South Bend next year might jazz me up more than whether we won or lost a bowl game. But then again, I can't expect everyone to think like me, so I can't say you are wrong or right.

Troy, the difference is USC plays ND and is always a threat to make the jump to the top 5. UW is rebuilding and has a coach in his first HC job who hasn't yet reached any such height. He has to prove to players trying to decide on UW vs other top programs if this coach can get them ready for the NFL and can they put a team around them to make their college experience one to remember. Winning a bowl this year after the bad taste left when they "coug'ed" it against WSU could swing a commit or two and sometimes one commit is the difference between a 35th ranked class and a 22nd ranked class.

Wouldn't worry to much about the Apple Whiz, other than it dropped Wub to a lesser Bowl game a tad. BTW- that game was a terrifiv ballgame to watch, I enjoyed it as a fan. Agree with you about UWub's recuiting tho, Coach Sark has had big job re-building the program after that woman destroyed it. That's water under the bridge for UWub and nothing but good times are ahead for the Huskies. Your Dawgs will be barking again soon.

As for the task @ hand in Vegas, terrific opportunity for Huskies to begin the "process back to promidence" this year. Beat the snot outta 10-2 Boise and next year will most certainly have a better taste to it than if they lose the Bowl game.

Coach Sarks "has got to know" this....

Right and I'm confident they will.  The fact that this minor bowl encourages such attention tells the story. Boise is vulnerable this year. Two losses already including their annual upset BCS game.  UW with some pride to redeem. The PAC, who sends their #5 every year to the lions den, smells blood. As the series end, play for a worth cause: revenge. Let loose the Huskies of war!

I'll just comment on the Arizona Nevada game. This is a big game for Nevada. Will the best of Arizona show up? That is what is tough to gauge in these games. Arizona should win. The emphasis is on should. But I am fairly sure RR is taking this game seriously.  So even I will say Arizona wins. But I am not betting the farm.

You can bet the farm.  This is Scott's last game, he'll go out a winner.

So, the betting lines show UW as the only dog in the PAC bowl matchups.  That's seems fairly consistent with my earlier picks.

Again, I hope the conference wins all eight games......The Ducks need the SOS boost for their Championship run next year.

Why haven't they handed DAT the Heisman already?  He is the most exciting player in CFB.

Congrats to Cal for getting Sonny as a coach.  I think he will bring a more exciting brand of football to the Bears.

Anyone want to coach Colorado?  Anyone?

WHAT? USC aint pasting everyone in the PAC!@ anymore? Guess that shows the parity of the conference today. And yes, the Buff will rise again, Just get a good young coach ya baztardz and not an Embry type homer either.

I think Colorado fired Embree too early. It takes more than 2 years to change a bottom team when you have the prev coach's recruits based on that coach's schemes. Embree needed another 2-3 years to get HIS recruits, get the O and D schemes changed, and get the kids to believe in themselves as well as the coaching staff. If the kids think the coaching staff is going to change and the style of play change every couple years, it'll make it harder to recruit to there. There also won't ever be any consistency, which is needed to play as a focused team to win more than an occasional game. This change only guarantees they stay at the bottom, and will only hurt the PAC 12's sos.

Must admit native...Buffs did stand up and play a couple of games tough towards the end of the year...perhaps your right on Embry, he should have had a couple of more years, But damn his team got taken to the shed OFTEN this year,

I would think it makes it dificult to recruit a good coach. That or Colorado has money to burn. But for some reason, of all the teams in the PAC, Colorado just doesn't/didn't seem like a natural.

The phrase Coug'd it is gone Wiz, it is officially Sark'd it. I'd say Dawg'd it but that might be too racist for a school already known for it's fans being racist.

Willing it to change will not make it happen. It isn't just Dawgs to call it a coug'd event and one example of it from a foe doesn't erase a very long history of doing it over and over and over and over again. Sorry, but it will always be known as coug'n it. Just how it is.

Racist? In what way? Oregon is the whitest state in the country so how would UW have the most racism? You are well offbase here on this one.
