how would Bobby Probert in his prime have done against John the monster Scott?

yeah, i was thinking about that exact question ... although i think Probert is one of the ALL-TIME greats when it comes to brawling on the ice, and it kind of pains me to say so, but i think Scott could take him.

Luongo and Schneider are both better than Crawford.....
Probably but I'll take the results and the cap hit instead of what the Canucks have right now.

I'm in the ditch, Trucker should be happy with 2pts.

Hawks pp showing flashes of last year's 26th ranked excellence.    Why shoot from a good angle when you can shoot from outside the circes with no one in front on the pp?   Of course that's only if one chooses to shoot on the pp.   I think 2 of the Hawks pps failed to register a SOG.   Maybe the Detroit PP inspired them this year.

Bolland hurt, it was inevitable, we won't know how bad for a while.

Hossa was a beast defensively, did as much as Crawford to save a point for Chicago.

Luongo looked excellent, thought he was supposed to start seasons cold?

Hawks play CGY Saturday.   OT loss against Vancouver started 9 game losing streak last year.    H

Hawks forward depth looks okay, but injuries and ice time starting to take toll on back end.

Pre strike, coked out Probie looses and eye and use of 6 fingers and one hand but comes to a draw, maybe even wins.
Post strike, failed rehab Probie goes down like Thornton still looking to swing when he doesn't know what planet he's on.

Loses an eye...maybe.

Yes, I could use another, but I'm tired.

Cap hit? Luongo is making about 5 mil this season, well within range of the top 'tenders. I'm not sure what Schneider is getting but they're both number one starters. I'll take the "cap hit" for two number ones than "saving money" for lesser talent.

How much is Crawford making?

Yes, I am happy with the two points. good discipline... no serious antics last night by either team, although the Sedin's didn't do much, especially Henric. Maybe a bit intimidated?

Usually the 'hawks try to ruffle Luongo's feathers by bumping him etc. Didn't see any of that until the third period and not much then.

I'm betting the cold start for Luongo disappeared knowing he was trade bait. A little more incentive for a faster start....

Schneider cap hit is 4 million. The Canucks have 9.333 million in cap hit tied up in a position were one 1 can play at a time.

I really hope Bolland is okay.  I don't want to see the Blackhawks go out and get a 2d line center that can win face-offs.  Kane forgot to pack his cape for the shoot-out.

Smooth is bad at hockey, but he can fight very well.

Here's the thing trucker.  The Canucks can probably get away with that for this season, they're under the cap and everybody is signed. But right now they can't get away with doing that next season, not even close.   As we speak they Canucks have 14 players signed for next season and only around 4 million dollars remaining under the cap to get that done.   Included in those 9 signings is players like Tanev and Alberts who I think they wanna hold onto and who aren't going to play for 500 grand.  Mason Raymond is another they'd like to sign and Schroeder isn't going to play for less then the million plus he's making right now.  Furthermore I doubt they their buyout on anybody next season so that probably isn't going to help them either.  And even if they do use a buyout on somebody they'll still be tight.

Somebody has to go. I don't remember who said it last week but maybe Schneider who's younger and more marketable needs to be the goalie who gets traded.  The problem is the longer they hold onto both the less teams will offer for Luongo because they won't risk trading tons for a goalie a team can't afford and technically might be thinking of buying out.

Other than Burrows being a dbag, everybody else just seemed to play hockey.   I thought somebody would try to run Keith and then I thought a Hawk would do something stupid, but they just decided to play a pretty good game overall.   Both goalies were excellent I thought.

Cam Ward (Car) - 4.50 GAA

yeah, Ward is killing my fantasy team this year.  i know he habitually starts off slow, but he could end up losing time to Ellis if he doesn't pick it up soon.

i like this. a lot.

someone needs to setup a failstats site.

most unforced giveaways that lead to a goal

most times caught admiring your own pass

most times caught playing the puck and not the man (i'm looking at YOU, Kyle Quincey)

and lets not stick to just hockey.

most airballs

most Wild pickoff throws

most inexplicable, unpressured pick 6s

help me out here, what am i missing?

i don't often have the luxury of watching a saturday afternoon game, hoping for a good one here. and in honor of this game, how about another addition to the ditch leaderboard - gayest player of the week. (not gonna name anyone in particular tho Innocent )

This is excellent Rediiis.   Cold and snowing out.   I needed this.

Faceoff fail race improving.

Hodgson still my frontrunner with 51-81
Frans Nielsen working hard at sucking at 39-63
Hecht doing his part for Buf too at 22-37
Steen and Bolland dropping fast, Bolland's injury may take him out of contention.

Buffalo taking charge for the team award at the dot.
