Hawks outshot in CGY 103-12.

Ran to bus, trampled fans on way out after the theft.   Emery shrunk the net somehow, never seen a backup perform like that since Hasek in Chicago.    He was awesome.  Any team outside of Calgary wins that game 8-1.   Hawks completely wasted, need the day off.

Kane scores, chokes on a bad decision with the puck with 34 seconds left and it leads to a goal for CGY, then he sets up the tying goal with 2 seconds left, then he scores the winner in the shootout.    Go Kaner.    That's what he's supposed to do.

2pts almost all on Emery.

Strange night, goats were in CGY too.

Feaster threw himself from 2nd balcony twice tonight but landed on soft fans, he's fine.

Agreed with the Kane analysis.

Nice rebound goal for the Hawks first goal.

Goat of the game for not being able to chip the puck in at the Flames blue line, turning it over.  And add insult to injury by not following back to pick up Bowmeester as the trailer who scores the apparent game winner with 32 seconds left. Terrible play on both ends by Kane.

But no, Kane makes a sweet dish to Oduya with the extra attacker, Oduya gets it over to Hossa who scores the miraculous tying goal with two seconds left.

Kane only one to score in the shootout and Hawks steal a win in a game they should never have won.  Disagree that the Flames should have won 8-1.  They could have scored 12 with all the chances they had.  Emery sensational in goal tonight.  Even Q said he never saw a goalie play like that...ever.

Still waiting for Kane to check someone...anyone.  I'm thinking he goes all 48 games without ever making a hit on anyone this season.  Should keep him nice and fresh for the playoffs.

Don't hold your breath.   Unless he's out drinking, I don't think he'll hit anybody.   I think it's better that way.

Kane really choked away a point with a terrible decision but he bounced right back to make a big play in short order.   I like that about him.

I've decided to not watch the SB today.   I don't have the stomach for the ray-ray storyline.   Great storylines with the qbs and coaches crushed by that piece of human trash,    SB commercials have been disappointing since the 90s, and now there's not even a nipple to look forward to, taking a pass on SB parties.   I'll say the ditch needs maintaining, which it does.    Go Niners?

I get my hockey fix early today, and that is a good thing.

They should send Burke to blowout Gary's controller for it to find redemption.

Kane is probably the most unique player and situation I've ever seen in my lifetime following this game.  First the good stuff.  He's only 24 years and has accomplished more statistically and personally by this age then 95 percent of 24 year olds can dream of.  Just look at his stats, it's unbelievable.  How many 24 year old forwards in today's NHL have already played over 400 games? And of the kids who have, how many if you pro-rate their numbers are averaging 77 points for an 82 game schedule?  Only around 15 players in the NHL last season in total scored 77 or more and the year before I think it was around 10 or 11, but that's Kane's average.  How old was he, 20 or 21 when he had a 90 point season?  And in the last 2 1/2 years where people think he's regressed he's still averaging close to a point a game during that time.  And in the playoffs he scores goals and averages a point a game.  And he has a Stanley cup winning goal to his credit.   Wow.

BUT.... over the years it seems like he disappears at times, makes stupid decisions and just isn't consistent.  What kind of player would he be if he was?  Off the ice so far he beat up a cab driver, was accused of choking a girl and had I think I remember pictures taken of him wasted with beer cans surrounding him and a cop hovering over him.  Or wait, are the cop and beer can pictures separate incidents?  Maybe I remember pictures of Kane wasted at some frat like party with his shirt off?

Yet somehow he manages to succeed on the ice.  If that kid ever became consistent on the ice and completely stays out of trouble off the ice only God knows what he can do.   But will he ever do those things?   That's the million dollar question....

I almost decided to avoid the Superbowl as well but sorta changed my mind.  Definitely no Superbowl party or get together or visits or nothing.  Going to watch the game by myself in my basement and rec room.   Watching for two reasons.  One, I want to see Ray Ray LOSE badly !!!!!!!  And although I don't really like prop tickets I played a little Superbowl props ticket, 25 dollars to win 550.  At any point if my props ticket is dead AND the Ravens look like they are going to win the football game I'm shutting the TV off and screwing around the internet or something.   For those who care and like prop tickets, here's what mine looks like.

Under 23.5 combined points in the 1st half.
Under 23.5 combined points in the 2nd half.
Over 45.5 on the longest field goal.
Over 4.5 on the total sacks, both teams combined of course.
Over 1.5 fumbles for the game.

I think it's been 6 or 7 years since I watched the game with anybody, been watching it by myself for a long time.  And even the one time in 10 years I attended a "party" it was a good friend begging me for 2 solid days that convinced me to visit or it never would have happened.  Until or unless hell freezes over and the Lions play in the Superbowl I really could care less about the game itself.  I make a very small wager which comes with potentially a good return to spice it up a bit, other then that it doesn't really matter to me.  This year is a little different in the sense I would smile from ear to ear if the 49'ers can spank the Ravens so Ray Ray can retire on a sour note.  I've never seen a thug like that worshipped by the media and by so many fans like that guy is.  He's a scumbag with a capital S yet he's treated like a king.  The fact he insults all christians by constantly referring to God the way he does only makes it worse for me.  In my opinion he's a terrible person who deserves terrible things to happen to him and a terrible life, not the constant compliments and the ranting and raving about how great he is along with the king's ransom he makes playing this game.

That all said I am a very big believer in karma and I think one day Ray Lewis will pay for the things he's done.  Not sure how or what or where but I think he'll pay dearly.  And that's one story I can't wait to read....

Yeah. For a guy like Kessel an 8 game scoring slump is rare.  I wonder how important Lupul is to his game and his success?

If I'm the Leafs though I break the bank and extend that guy right now.  Overpay while you can because if he decides to test the free agent market after next season that trade gets a heck of a lot worse real fast.

Yeah I can't stomach ray lewis much anymore, I'm still sick of the last time he was at the big show, and that was 13 yrs ago.

I look at the kessel situation like this, throughout his career, he's always had stretches of games, alot of times over 10 games, where he hasn't scored, its just that its never been the first 10, that's the big difference here and why its getting so much attention.

I think I agree with what you said about Kessel, I think the timing of the slump is worse then the slump itself.   But since he's so close to his contract expiring I think he really has to pick it up soon.  With his slump being at the same time Lupul is out also makes it a little worse since his best season in the NHL was playing with him last year.  I still say if the Leafs are serious about signing Kessel I don't think they can afford to wait too much longer.  I think they'll have to overpay but they certainly can't afford to lose him in free agency.  The only other option would be to trade him but I'm not sure they would get anything close to equal value in return so I say just get him signed and call it a day.  And if Kessel won't sign an early extension then regardless of this little slump I think trading him sooner then later increases his value since the team aquiring him knows they get a full season out of him next year.

Kane has 0 hits and 1 blocked shot.   He blamed the blocked shot on poor accuracy from the blueline and being screened by the linesman.   "I was against the boards hiding behind the linesman and thwap", he grumbled.

i'll be watching the SB, but not too intensely since i want BOTH of these teams to face a cataclysmic disaster that destroys this particular game.  hopefully, Katrina II stops by today... too much to ask?  my sugar works in advertising, so it's part of her job to watch the commercials.  Pens game is on early... GOOD.  plus, i still have a little over a gram of Probie powder as well.  it should be a good day.
