New Season - May 26th

yzerman  Couturier is still a young enough guy to turn tampa around. rome wasn't built in a day! even the best gms forwards weren't the best overnight...? give stevie y Couturier a chance.


red-i wrote that message with the intention of you reading it and coming after me for giving stevie y a pass as a bad gm and not courterier at 20. haha. good stuff.

Red-i like to think my bust-meter is accurate. so far it's been solid. i hope courterier proves me wrong. dom brown is a lock for el busto! 2 weeks into the season and he's his normal .235 average.         

Brandon "Manchild" Saad is playing much better than I thought he would in both zones.     Still making mistakes but playing with Hossa and Toews covers up for almost all of them. 

Injury knocked him down in the draft, thanks to Brian Burke's aggressive trading, he fell in the Hawks' lap.    I think he's going to be a good hockey player for a long time.    First time I've been excited about a forward non-top 3 overall draft pick for the Hawks since Ethan Moreau, hope he's better.

I remember watching him play early in the season when I think he wasn't putting many points on the board.  He looked damn good and very poised... very talented, even without the offensive numbers to back up the talent.    I think most of us on these boards have watched hockey for a long time and unless Saad goes through some injury problems I'm pretty sure we all know he's gonna be a really good player in this league for a very long time.

And yes, there isn't a better combination then Toews and Hossa for the kid to play with.   Between Hossa and Toews there is plenty of offensive talent, defensive responsibility, experience and some grit for good measure.

Now excuse me while I go puke for saying something so nice about the Hawks at a time my Wings are fighting for their playoff lives.
