Boeheim is getting so bad he will probably only win 25-30 games a year for as long as he coaches.

UConn made shots last night that won the game.  Good stuff.  I'm with Mike on Coach JB.  But I'm not going to send him packing.  He's earned his place as the Head Coach at SU and he will have to be the one to say it's time.

The UConn/SU series were my favorite match ups of the year.  They were always in the hunt and if you stopped the huskies, you had a good team.

Good luck UConn fans.

Mike is probably right that Boeheim won't win another one.

But the thing he seems to miss is that National Championships shouldn't be taken for granted.  They aren't easy to come by, Boeheim already got you one (one more than most coaches) and all you can really hope for is to put your team in a good position to make a deep run in March and let the chips fall where they may.  And Boeheim has absolutely had The Cuse in a position to win the title the last several years.

Let's not forget that Syracuse is in... well Syracuse.  I'm not sure there is a coach in America that could recruit there and coach there any better than what Boeheim has done.  Not K, Not Izzo, Not Williams, Not Calipari.

Trolly,

I think Calipari would be able to recruit better than Boeheim if he were to take a job at Syracuse after Jim Boeheim retired. This won't ever happen--but we're just speaking hypothetically here. Lansing, Michigan (Michigan State) is also in a snowbelt city like Syracuse--so I wouldn't say there ISN'T a coach out there that could do the same.

But I agree with the rest of your post; however, Boeehim's deep runs are rare past the sweet 16.

Calipari might be able to do better, but I'm not 100% convinced.  I'll give you that one though.

Izzo might be able to recruit, but he's not unlike Boeheim.  He's a "gimmick" coach. But instead of relying on the 2-3 zone, he just recruits a bunch of middle linebackers and teaches them to dribble and shoot.  (and hack)  That works in the B1G, but I don't think it would be successful in the Big East or the ACC.

And as you and I have discussed at length, Boeheim has had a pretty bad record (in comparison to the expectations) in the tournament.  But Syracuse is also a couple of bad breaks (regarding player availability in the tourament) from likely having a few more Final Fours (or beyond)  Izzo is on the other end of that and has had some deep runs when it wasn't expected, but Izzo has benifited from upset brackets more than any other coach I think.

So to a degree the difference between Izzo and Boeheim comes down to luck more than anything else.

Again, NYG, Katz is an idiot. But you can blow on his horn all you want. Different strokes for different folks.

SU does seem to want to give out parting gifts to all the away clubs before they move on.

More CJ dammit! Give him the ball, he is the best shooter on the team right now. Triche & MCW aren't the ones getting him the ball. I want a more PG outta MCW and less SG.

I think Mr. Assist started thinking about the NBA and they like to see points. I would preffer for him to fill his roll as a set up guy first, driver/set up guy second, shooter last. Lets see CJ with a touch every time on the offensive end. Run-outs not withstanding.

Honestly don't blame Jim Boeheim for going off on Andy Katz like that. For those who don't remember about what he wrote about Jim Boeheim, Julie Boeheim, and the Fine's relationship at the end of 2011, it's obvious that Jim Boeheim has had a bad past with Andy Katz. Personal lives that have nothing to do with sports, and what were likely lies at that probably offended Boeheim. I'm sure there were other "facts" Andy decided to point out that offended Boeheim that were probably not true either, but I didn't read the whole article because I didn't want to waste an extra 20 minutes of my life reading that crap.

Good call Mike.  I agree 100 percent.

The Hoyas!  A team I was busting on real bad early in the year.  You guy remember the game against UT where both teams were under 45.  I wrote them off back then.  Now they top the league.  GTown and the cuse close out the year with a H & H.  I've got to make the home game.  Next weekend.  It's gonna be a special game.

Huge win for MU today. We had two huge games this week and played absolutely dreadful in also the biggest joke of a officiating game I've see this year(not one sided) against gtown. Their defense is great and playe a huge part but we playe like a bunch of idiots. Today's game was huge and we smacked Pitt around. Only team to beat Pitt by double digits and have two highest scoring games by any team vs them. Too bad we are so inconsistent. May have to do with our 2-4th best players all being bench guys.

That uconn win is great for nova. Couple that with win over fellow bubble team st johns and then those two huge wins over cuse and lville and that is a great bunch of wins. But then you look at the losses. Not only do they have 10 losses, but they were swept by a bad prov team and have a horrific loss to columbia. That basically cancels out any good those big wins would do for them.

Must win next against rutgers and then @ seton hall. and then they must win at least two of three of @pitt and home vs gtown and marq. They need two of those for sure, because not only are they ranked wins, nova quite simply can't take any more losses.

They then need to get to probably atleast the quarter finals of the BET. So if all that happens theyd pick up 6-7 more wins (2-3 good) and two more losses.

Thats 23-12(ish). I don't know that it would be a sure in, but apart from winning the BET thats your best bet.
