On paper their lineup is a Murderers Row if ever I saw one.  Imagine if Howie Kendrick actually lives up to his potential for once, although i'm doubtful on that.
Yeah, but unfortunately for us Angel fans it won't matter if our pen continues to suck. Lost a lot of games last year with leads going into the 7th-8th innings.............Nothing like blowing a 7 run lead against the Rays at home ( a series where we were swept BTW). Had a big lead against the Rangers in the later innings and ended up losing in extras......that one was pretty much the nail in the old coffin for 2012.

As an Oriole fan, I will be interested to see how things play out in the AL East.  The Yanks and Sox could finish 4th and 5th respectively.  I would love to see that.  It will be interesting to see how good the Blue Jays are also.  Something tells me they will be good, but not great (85-90 wins).  It seems like the teams that make small, subtle moves end up raising the trophy at the end.

OK guys.  Decision time.

Unfortunately, the options that CBS offers for the free leagues are poor at best.  Both roto and head to head leagues are set to a default size of 10 teams.  Roster sizes are also way too small for the head to head leagues (only start 9 hitters), so I do not view this as a viable option.  Unless we decide as a group to pay for CBS commissioner ($150) then we are looking at playing on another site.  Personally, I have a hard time paying for something that I can get for free, but if the majority wants to go this route, then I would be okay with it.

Here are the options.  I am going to try to keep this as simple as possible.  Since I have used Y! before, that is the alternative I am suggesting.  If you guys have another site you have used which offers a quality free product, feel free to sound off.

1)  Pay for CBS Commissioner and play 5 x 5 roto

2)  Pay for CBS Commisioner and play points based head to head

3)  Play 5 x 5 roto on Y!

4)  Play 5 x 5 category based head to head on Y!

Since we have a long time before the season starts, I am leaving the voting window up for 2 weeks.  Final votes will be tabulated at midnight eastern time on 2/10.  Once we determine the league type, we will then need to discuss a few specific rules and settings.

My vote is option 4.  I think head to head category leagues require skill to navigate, but the head to head element adds excitement which will play well in this league.

Also,  I have recieved a couple questions on draft times.  I don't see any reason to draft super early, especially since this is our first year.  I am thinking sometime mid-March so that we have a chance to see a few spring games before drafting.  I will post options for you all to vote on once we get the format and settings established.

I am for option 4 as well.

I currently have a keeper league on Yahoo and it's very flexible.  It sucks that CBS doesn't give options... I don't understand, it would only result in more users reading THIS SITE!!

But I am fine with Yahoo, because I totally agree that the option CBS gives us is terrible.

I believe I read sometime ago that SAM "you are a rookie at fantasy baseball?'  If so, that makes 2 of us!  :)  Favorite team is the Brew Crew, you know Milwaukee Brewers!

I hope to learn a lot and to get a solid feel for the game.  I'm here to win but I do know just learning in my book will be a win in my fantasy baseball world.

I can't vote for any option as I do not know the best solution for our group, leaving it in the hands of you vets!

Play Ball.........  But I do agree draft in late March, I need to see pre game action!  aka spring ball! Cool

malicious phenon,

You have a nice set of hitters, so I can understand why you might want to trade a 3B for a pitcher, but I think you can get more for Longoria.

Longo is tough, because I have always felt that he is one of those players whose name carries more value than his game should be worth.  He is usually drafted late round 1 or early round 2 when the stats suggest he should be more of a early round 3 selection.  I do not think he is significantly better than Zimmerman, but he is significantly more valuable.

The question is not whether this deal helps your team, but whether or not you could get a better, safer pitcher in return.  I like Wainwright's chances to bounce back, but I would be holding out for a better pitcher like a David Price or a Jered Weaver if I were considering dealing Longoria.  His name should be able to return a player of that calibur.

Tlance, thanks for taking the time to write that. I agree 100%. I tried to get Verlander or Wevaer from the same owner and he would not do it. He offfered Wainwright and I said no..

Hi Tlance, thanks for the invite. I'd be happy to play with you guys. I'm open for Yahoo H2H, but I don't mind putting in $12 or so to cover a CBS league.
