Tiance - Are we set in stone with the Quality Starts over Wins?  It's not a major thing, but if it comes to a vote, i'd prefer wins.  As aggravating as seeing a closer blow a game for a starter is, it just seems a bit more natural to me.

I'll play with either, but I think quality starts reflects better on the pitcher and reward him for his performance, as opposed to wins which all depend on how good the team is around him.  Some examples are
Cliff Lee: 6 wins - 21 quality starts
Jordan Zimmermann: 12 wins - 24 quality starts
Jake Peavy: 11 wins - 23 quality starts
Felix Hernandez: 13 wins - 21 quality starts
All these guys pitched way better than their record says.

Chef,

None of the secondary settings are set in stone, so the wins vs. quality starts item is definitely a point for debate.  Jim suggested this idea and I agree that wins are fairly arbitrary.  To prove that point, here are last year's top 10 in wins:

1- Gio Gonzalez- 21
2- Jered Weaver- 20
3- RA Dickey- 20
4- David Price- 20
5- Johnny Cueto- 19
6- Matt Harrison- 18
7- Lance Lynn- 18
8- Jason Verlander- 17
9- Cole Hamels- 17
10- Chris Sale- 17

Tied with 16 wins include some of the following- Phil Hughes, Gallardo, Tim Hudson, Kyle Lohse, Wade Miley and AJ Burnett.  Barry Zito won 15 games with a 4.15 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP.  Now, there are some really good pitchers on that list, but there are some mediocre ones too.  The quality start numbers are much more representative of good pitching.

There are advantages and disadvantages to making a ton of adds/drops.  In this particular format, I do not think that the super aggressive add/drop owners will be rewarded disproportionately.
Way to shut down a loopole Tlance.  But, as this is H2H, it is pretty much a non-issue here.  Being a super agressive add/drop guy in my Roto leagues, I think it is a reason I do as well there as I do, so this got my interest.

And, to paraphrase Al Pacino In Godfather III, "Just when I thought I was out, I get dragged back in"

Just my way of saying thank you for waiting for me, I am in now, and, am ready to go.

Tlance, Jim, Anyone who 100% understands,

Am I correct in thinking that ones staff of pitchers has to end up with 32 innings pitched in the weekly scoring period to even count your pitching stats for that week?

And, more of a stratgey question, so nobody may want to answer this:  I see we have 4 specific SP spots to our team.  Can I assume that one or all of these may be left blank in a weeks active roster if one wants to, as long as you otherwise accqurie the necessary 32 i.p for that week?

Thank you in advance for all responses.

bigdmgr,

That is correct.  if you fall short of 32 IP, you automatically go 0-5 in pitching cats that week.  Yes, you may leave positions empty as long as you get your 32 innings.  You do not have an illegal line-up if you leave a slot empty.  Of, course, the closer you are to the 32 inning threshhold, the more risk you take.  It isn't like you can throw an extra starter in there on Sunday if you are about to fall short.

Good to have you aboard officially.

Thank you very much for the clarification.  And, Boy, will this team then sure look different from all others I have because of this....

Good to have you aboard officially
Thank you for being patient with me, and putting up with my league setting issues, and addressing them so well and quick.  I feel honored to even be asked to join, much less to be both accomodated and accepted.
