Hey Lyman.  Have you given any thought about what addional criteria you might be using for points in The Finale of Lyman's PLAYOFF Challenge - 2013?

I have a suggestion. 

How's this sound?  --  If, after selecting the winning team,  in The Finale of Lyman's PLAYOFF Challenge - 2013 (AKA - the superbowl), that very same contestant does also predict the exact number of points scored by each team (not simply the sum of both teams' points), he/she  then will be awarded...ah . ..oh.. .., mebbe ... . +143 points?

Yes..................and that is a very large " IF ".  Throwing cash across the bookie's palm is sure a lot different, isn't it...  It's a guess no matter how you look at it...anytime.

Forget the game winner; most of these games are the highest-scoring contests, by winner and loser, that come to memory in the past few years.  The over/under(just like the bookmakers challenge) is really a tough call.

I think the f***ing Goat has a dress on, first the 49ers are in the Super Bowlthen the Ravens beat Bellacheat, is the NFL going to give the crown to Ray Lewis?  I think I will schedule a root canal for Super Bowl Sunday, the PAIN is already there.

Well, the bad news is I'm still in the Princess Leia Division, but the worst news is the Ratbirds and not one but two Harbaughs will be coaching in it.

Think I'll follow Bluepigpen's lead and schedule a colonoscopy on the day of the SB.

Hey Lyman.  Have you given any thought about what addional criteria you might be using for points in The Finale of Lyman's PLAYOFF Challenge - 2013?

Why . . . Yes, I have. 

Keep in mind there will no points awarded for picking the correct Home/Away team as the Super Bowl is played at a neutral site (even if one is designated the Home team).  I have, however, come up with four (4) Bonus questions. 

The first three deal with yardage.  If you go over the correct answer - no points will be awarded.  If you hit the number right on nail, you will be awarded 50 points.  For each yard you guess under the correct answer you will lose 1 point from the max of 50. 

For example:  Assume a correct answer = 95 yards and you guess 90 yards.  You will be awarded 45 Bonus points.  
                     (95 - 90 = 5.  50 - 5 = 45)

                     Use caution though. 
                     If you guess 40 (with a correct answer of 95), you will awarded -5 points.  (95 - 40 = 55,  50 - 55 = -5)

The fourth question will be one that is unique to the Super Bowl and will be worth 25 points.  On this one there is no gradient score.  If you're right, you get 25 points.  If you're wrong, you get zip, zilch, nada, nuttin.

You are not required to answer the Bonus questions.  However, if you answer one of them you MUST answer all four.  Failure to answer 2 or more of the four will result in a deduction of 25 points for each question not answered.

If you are paranoid and think others will steal your answers in order to prevent you from maintaining a lead or from catching up, you can elect to PM me with your answers to the four Bonus Questions.

A word of caution on the 4th question.

Do not confuse the Sponsor with the Product.  In BGBrowns picks above, he entered "Bud Light".  If the actual commercial was for Bud Light, he would have gotten the 25 points.  However, had the actual commercial been for Budweiser (a totally different brand) he would not have received any points.  I've already send a PM to him asking if he wants to stay with Bud Light or enter the actual sponsor - Budweiser.

In the other entries so far, Pepsi is both a sponsor and a product (along with Diet Pepsi, Mountain Dew, etc.)  Doritos would be much the same as Pepsi as there are various types of Doritos sold under the overall name.








(Me thinks I may have opened a can of worms here.)
