Did ya'll seriously think ND could compete w/SEC

January 8, 2013 11:41 am

Onward, I have watched Kelly berate kids on National TV many many times.

Agree, and this is inexcusable. However, he seemed to have a mellow year, but I guess not losing helped. Stay tuned....

inexcuseable?  every coach lays into his players.  and if they had the coaches mic'd up on the sidelines, they would need an "R" rating for the games to listen to what the coaches say to the refs.  hell -- saban was about to blow a gasket on the ref when his team was up like 42-7 and you count how many times he was swearing by reading his lips.  LOL.

I think it was more about his drunk flush face when he was laying into his players.  I was waiting for his head to pop open from steam pressure like Elmer Fudd. Actually he kind of looks like Fudd with hair.

The SEC will not  be able to continue its domination only because there will finally be an inferior team like Kansas St. that goes undefeated along wiith a Notre Dame and this will shut the SEC out of the NC game.

A lame undefeated team like Notre Dame -- that plays nobody -- should not be able to sneak into the BCS Championship game. Strength of schedule and conference affiliation have to be applied to this equation after the egg the UNDEFEATED Irish laid in Miami.

Being UNDEFEATED should mean NOTHING if you play a lame schedule.... just ask Matei Te'o. And some of you thought he should have won the Heisman Trophy.... lunacy.

Ok, let me try to explain the SEC. We believe that having strong conference opponents make us better; therefore pulling for other teams in the SEC is just natural. If you like beating up cupcakes all season that’s great, but when your team gets shellacked in their bowl game it shows the weakness of your conference. I pulled for Bama because in order for my team to win a title they need to improve and beat them. If the other teams in the SEC make it harder for Bama, TA&M, UGA, LSU, or UF to get to the championship game, when they do it makes it special. It’s also respect for our opponents, if they run the gauntlet; they represent the SEC (especially those they defeated) in winning the title. Yes it’s Bama’s victory and they had to put in the work to get where they are.

I don't buy that stat at all. If Notre Dame played in the SEC they'd be at least a three-loss team. BOTTOM LINE!

I can only agree partially.  FSU and Miami were truly dominant programs who played in bad conferences.  I don't have a problem with a team with a weak schedule playing for a title.  Sometimes the teams on your schedule just don't perform how they should.  I have a problem with a team with a weak schedule not dominating the teams on their schedule and then still being handed a sopt in the title game.

Yeah, they pretty much thrashed whomever they faced in-conference.  ND doesn't play an eight-game conference schedule, so we'll never know how they could perform under the same conditions.  They're facing teams, from week to week, with very different styles of play.

In the Xii, you know you're going to face a high-powered offense with a good-to-great QB.

In the SEC, you're going to face a terrific defense and a solid running game.

In the ACC.....ummm.....nice mascots.

Please don't bother.  there is nothing you can say to justify rooting for an ENEMY to win the national title.  Bama losing that game last night would have had no effect on your team.  Nope, let me take that back.  Bama winning that title probably ensured a few more recruits to Tuscaloosa that may have ended up in Gainseville.  Your team can stand on their own merits and if they are winning close games against other top programs or blowing out an inferior conference they can still make a title game.  Yes, I understand that the better your conference is the better chance you have of playing for a title but at the end of the day what your program does needs to stand on its own and not be propped up by other programs.
