Predicitons for the off-season

January 15, 2013 7:15 pm

simmion ur yet again a idiot!!! im sorry did i say he is wrong??? no!!!!! i said i hope your predictions are wrong!! (predictions)!!!!! thats the thread name isnt it!!!! jesus....

And I asked you a simple question why you hoped his predictions were wrong.  Like you had something way better in mind than trading for fitz, or drafting better defense.  So, why are you hoping those predictions are wrong?  dip****.

Predicitons for the off-season

January 15, 2013 7:18 pm

i want Mike Wallace but thats not my prediction i dont see how we would start on defense!

Seriously, I'd take any of those 4 you list.  Mike Wallace might come at the greatest cost though.  Being franchised then asking the world for trade.

As far as defense.  I just like building a defense always.  But that's just my opinion.  Especially with the age of some of our guys like Allen, Williams, and Winfield.

There was a good start to this last year with giving Guion a shot, getting Griffen in the lineup consistently, and Harrison is a stud. I think Josh Robinson will be a guy in our secondary for a while too.

That said, our linebacker and secondary depth is pretty aweful. Winfield is going to need to be replaced as a starter soon. We need another starting safety. Our linebacking depth is terrible, and our starters aren't irreplaceable either.

We used all three 4th round picks on offense last year, I think there will be more of a focus on using those picks for defense this year. Unless there is a stud receiver in the 1st, I hope we go heavy on defense too. Having a good defense keeps most teams in most games. With the best kicker in the game, the Vikings can win lots of close games.

Predicitons for the off-season

MaryJane,

The Vikings defense was leaps and bounds better this year than it was the past couple, but you have to remember who else is in the NFC North.  The Packers, Bears, and Lions ALL have multi-dimensional passing attacks.  We all love the arrival of Harrison Smith at free safety, but the Vikings still are extremely unsettled at strong safety and right corner.  You can't tell me you're satisfied and confident in the likes of Jamarca Sanford and Chris Cook.  And at linebacker, the Vikings MUST get better on the weak side.  I'm willing to give Brinkley another season to develop in the middle, but Erin Henderson is plainly awful.

I think filling those deficiencies trumps shoring up the offensive line.  Besides, if the Vikings can vastly improve at receiver, other teams will no longer be able to stack 8 or 9 in the box.  THAT in and of itself will relieve much of the pressure on the O Line.  And the Vikings D line isn't getting any younger either.

My point is that after upgrading at receiver, the defense is the next biggest issue.  Regardless of whether they get Wallace, Fitz, Bowe, or keep Harvin, they have to get better in the secondary.

Well re-reading my post, I guess it did come off as saying you are dumb for saying "you are wrong"... But it was not what I was intending.  I more wanted you to say what you thought was wrong with his ideas of what he wanted as offseason moves. PLEASE FORGIVE ME, MJ!

Predicitons for the off-season

Careful, MJ, or you're going to make Percy jealous.

I have to agree with Iggy that after upgrading the WRs, defense needs to be the top priority.  We could use some new starters at DT, WLB, and SS and pretty much all positions on defense besides DE could use more depth.

We should probably blow another 20-25 million on a tight end Wink

wow i've checked this guy out Cordarrelle Patterson he's pretty good,Percy Harvin would love this guy would take alot of the Pressure off him,and give Ponder some weapons like Kyle Rudolph AP a heatlhy Percy Harvin and if they draft Cordarrelle Patterson, gives Ponder no excuse for not throwing down field, after that IMO hope the coaching staff makes this draft all about the Defense

Predicitons for the off-season

January 20, 2013 10:31 pm

The Vikings will pass on a quarterback in the draft who will go on to be an instant superstar in the NFL.

The Packers will draft 4 wide receivers and then bring back John Brockington and Paul Hornung to compete with Ryan Grant for the starting running back job.

The Bears new coach will think he's still in the CFL when the team quits in early November.

The Lions will skip the draft and start hiring players right out of the prison system.

i've also checked this guy Deandre Hopkins out of Clemson, he likes to go down field for the big pass a nice endzone target..his speed is ok but his hands catching the ball seem to be outstanding, again it gives Ponder no excuse for not throwing down field would not be a bad pick by the Vikings if they draft him

Predicitons for the off-season

February 8, 2013 1:34 pm

“Percy Harvin is a blue-chip player. He is a game changer,” Spielman said. “He was on track to be a potential MVP and we were very fortunate to have two players and we had one that did win the MVP award. We are very fortunate to have two players of that caliber on our football team.

Hey Nos......guess you were mistaken(Wrong) again.......But you probably think Spielman is for calling Harvin an MVP calibre player (elite). You should contact him Nos and explain just how wrong he (and I) are.
