Yes really. The bottom of the west sucks. They're 17-5 at home which means they're on pace to go about 32-9 at home and are on pace to win about 15 road games which means they're going to finish with around 47 wins and it also helps that they're 5 games up on the Lakers and 6 games up on the Mavs who are the only possible threats to them not making the playoffs

Too bad your criteria for what constitutes "on pace" is based on nothing more than remedial math!

I couldn't care less about the Jazz' playoff prospects, I just think it's funny that you seem to think you have such a handle on handicapping everyone's playoff hopes in the West.

Since you have that Nash Howard SI pic as your avatar I justed wanted to add that the Dodgers had a very similar situation in 1991 when they added Brett Butler and Daryl Strawberry as their David & Goliath 1-2.  Butler and Strawberry were bad but they were still closer to the playoffs than Nash and Howard.  Lakers are even teasing their fans like they have a shot at the playoffs just like the Dodgers tormented their fans the same way in 2012.  It's funny how history repeats itself in the same city though.

The top 6 seeds are set but the order is unknown but those 6 teams will be top 6 when the playoffs start.

Utah is just about a lock for a final 2 seed in the west.

That's 4 games under after today.  It looks like they are going to "tease" their fans like they still have a shot at the playoffs and end up around 2 games behind the 8 seed when the season ends.

Punchline, the Lakers have won 5 of their last 6 (not sure why you're arbitrarily pointing to the last 3 games) since the team meeting in Memphis and since changing their game up with Kobe principally faciliting...and two of these "terrible teams" that they've beaten during this run - Utah and Detroit are teams that beat your Heatles...so, you shouldn't be one to judge!

And out of those 5 wins, the only game they were not expected to win was the OKC game.

The truth of the matter is that the Lakers went through a soft part of their schedule and the only game in the last 6 that nobody expected them to win was the OKC game. They should beat teams like Utah, New Orleans, Phoenix, Detroit, and Minnesota.

I never made the bet with you son. I have said all along that the Lakers will probably make the playoffs because the teams after the top 6 in the west are not as good as they used to be. 44 wins should get them in....Maybe even 42
