Another reason to root against the Falcons

In Des Moines, Iowa just the other day, a customer of The Home Depot (owned by Falcons owner, Arthor Blank) was asked to leave the store while his paint was being mixed. Why? He was carrying a side arm.  He has his permit to carry a concealed weapon and was breaking no law what-so-ever, and furthermore, the store did not have any signs regarding the matter.

Menards got his $600+ business that day, and will get the majority of mine too.

Not to get political, but a store or government trouncing about on our constitutional rights is just unacceptable.

By the way, this person was previously in the Navy and served our Country with pride.

The one thing we all gave in common here is our love of the Saints. After that well we all have our opinions. My father has aconceal carry permit and occasionally carries but never to where it can be seen . Don't know if Home Depot has a posted sign anywhere prphibiting firearms but they certainly have a right to ask any one to leave. I'm not apprised of the story very well but they might have been better off just keeping an eye on him or asking him if he wouldn't mind taking it to his car. Sounds like he did a poor job of concealing it. He was well within his right to carry so long as he has permits but if you are a manager of a retail outlet and you can see someone is in possession of a firearm it going to raise alarms.

In this case, the 2nd Amendment is secondary to a business's right to refuse service to anyone. The individual has rights, but so does that business.

People make this mistake all the time in big open places like casinos, large retail stores, malls, etc. They think that because it is a big area with lots of people coming and going that they have a right to be there, but they don't.

Nevertheless, concealed carry is easily accomplished with the right equipment and clothing. People will buy a $600 pistol and put it in a $25 holster, with a T-shirt over it, and wonder why the weapon prints like it does.

I haven't been out of the house in years without at least a small caliber weapon on and have never been noticed. If you conceal it correctly, no one ever notices.

Besides, I don't need a service refusal at a Home Depot to dislike the Falcons franchise any more than I already do.

No, the store did not, and still does not have the sign posted, which is what aggravates me.  If it is a manager's decision, that's fine, but post it, don't surprise a customer by a non posted rule due to your own beliefs.  That would be like a ref throwing a flag for you drinking Gatoraide because he like Power Water.

I actually don't shop at stores that have "no weapons" signs posted. To me, that's a "no competition zone" for all the bad guys.

Permit to carry is just that, and in my opinion if people see that I carry, and I do, then great, they should know they are in safe hands. Some people are just damn sensitive about guns, but they'll drive a 4000+lb vehicle while drinking, texting, etc... That puts more people in harms way than a gun in a holster.

Down with the Falcons!! They hate guns!! Drew Brees is our gun!! :)

Ya I agree.  I actually don't own a gun cause the process up here in Mass to get a license for one is ridiculous.  But I can't say that I have a problem with that cause many people up here in this part of the country are very irresponsible and plain idiots.  I really wish I did own one though for the sake of protecting my household and family considering I live on the 1st floor in a 3 tenament apartment in kind of a crappy neighborhood.  I do own other forms of serious weaponery and thankfully I have never had to use them and hope I don't ever have to.

I would advise owning a heater, mass, even if it is a lot of trouble up there.

Ya I hear you 82 I'll probably get one eventually especially with all the nonsense going on in this country the past year but ever since I suffered a gunshot wound in my foot when I was 14 years old, I kind of looked at guns differently. I assume the percentage of people that own guns down south is higher than up here also. I know down south you guys can walk around on the streets with a beer in your hand. If you try that up here, your getting locked up no ifs, ands, or butts about it.

Actually, you'd be surprised. Open container and bottle laws are stiffening up everywhere you go down here.

Even during Mardi Gras, where I'm from, the laws are tightening up. But you can still take a beer out on the street in most places, at least in a plastic or styrofoam container.

But definitely no bottles. And some cities have laws stating no open container outside of an establishment, period.

But you're right. Generally our liberties are greater down here. Weapons permits are much easier to obtain, (simply don't be a felon). And with only 8 hours of training by a certified instructor, you can get privileges to carry in nearly every place.

Gun purchases are virtually no wait right now, but we will see how that is a year from now.

I can understand your aversion to owning one, but I advise all my friends to learn to shoot and keep one as close them at all times as the law will allow. A person is his own first line of defense. Cops generally arrive after something has happened.  People operate under this false assumption that first responders will be there if anything bad happens, but they'll tell you, they are there after it has gone wrong.
