UNC Baseball practice began Friday...in the snow!  I m pumped up about this season.  In addition to being ranked #2 by Collegiate Baseball, Perfect Game and Baseball America have us ranked #1 (First time in history for the Heels).

JaCoby Jones went 4-for-9 with three doubles and a triple

Evening. Good to be back. Not sure what to expect from Miami this year. They will probably not be ranked at the beginning of the year. They only have 6 seniors on the roster, so the hong guys will have to step up. We'll see what happens. Many of you may have seen that former Canes coach Ron Fraser passed away last week. Nicknamed "The Wizard of College Baseball," he will be missed. He led the Canes to the CWS 12 times, including championshs in 1982 and 1985. RIP Coach. You will be missed.

The Heels have a freshman phenom named Skye Bolt.  What a great name!  He is supposedly the fastest player on the team and expected to be our staring CF this year.  The other starting freshman is named Lassiter.  He will be playing SS.  I find it interesting that we are so young up the middle, but apparently these guys can really play.

RIP coach Ron Fraser.  He was a great coach, Skip Berkman was an assistant of his at Miami.  Fraser always had the Canes ready to play and coached many good teams at Miami.

Yup Geaux, Fraser will be missed. It's kinda odd around here, normally by now I would be ready for college baseball to start, but the Canes are having a good year in basketball, they are now 16-3, 7-0 in the ACC and they went 8-0 in January. They have a senior laden team, the kind that makes deep runs in March. It could be an interesting spring . . .

Good luck to the Canes basketball team.  Tigers are not too good in basketball so I am really ready for college baseball to begin.  Not too far off.  I am anxious to see how the Tigers do this year.  They have experience in the pitching staff, but do not have a great one.  Aaron Nola is the best of the lot.  He will be the Friday night starter.

The Longhorns played their Alumni game on Friday. The Alumni got off to a quick 5 run in the 3rd and the students came back to tie it 5-5 with a run in the bottom of the 9th. The game featured the two winniest college Baseball coaches when Cliff Gustafson entered the game in the 3rd as the 3rd base coach with a standing ovation from the crowd, while Brooks Kieschnick managed the Texas Exes. It starts for real Feb 15 when the Longhorns host Sacramento State.<br />

I was thinking of maybe going to the LSU opener this Friday and I checked the LSU
site for tickets and all I can get are standing room only from the LSU website.

That's the problem with trying to go to a LSU baseball game.  Almost all
the tickets are sold through season tickets and then one has to buy from a non
LSU source for two to three times the normal ticket price.  Man it sucks.  I
guess that is what happens when a team is pretty successful in that sport -
especially LSU and college baseball.  A solid revenue sport for LSU.

Congrats Geaux!  You passed the test!

Our First Pitch Dinner was Saturday.  It was announced that UNC set a season ticket sales record this season.  Now, if we could only get the students to go to the games...SMH

DUUUUUUUUUDE!!! A College Baseball board!

I had no idea this was here. I have actually looked for the College Baseball area of the CBS sports site and never found one. Is this new? Or am I just an idiot?
