Cat... Nothing wrong with a fast stinker.

Talking cart fees. A couple years back my wife decided to come and see what this golf thing was all about.  She came into the shop with me. I was playing with another couple we were a 3 some + my wife.  I got charged $12 ( i think ) for her to ride in the cart!!  I'd never heard of that before.

   Jay, is that common practice?

Eh, really depends on the course.  We only allow 2 carts per group which is standard practice unless the course allows 5somes.  If a player shows up with a rider and can maintain the two carts per group rule then I don't charge the rider.  If they require a 3rd cart to allow the rider to ride along then yes, I charge the rider too.

hey noko

i think the issue that courses have with what you bring up is that whats to stop an "observer" from picking up a club and starting to play while out on the course...i think some courses worry about stuff like that....lots of crafty, sneaky people out there looking to save a buck...

question - while you were out that day did you offer to the wife to go ahead and try a shot or two?

i think most people do that out of courtesy if nothing else towards those who may join us for a day...and thats what courses dont like.

I can understand if there was a third cart involved. This was just a case of my wife sitting next to me.  Coming along for the ride.  I guess they think she was taking the place of a possible single?

I nearly told them to stick it.  Seemed excessive to me.

Some courses look at cart rental revenue more seriously than others and want to maximize the revenue from each trip around the course.  From that standpoint, letting a person ride for free means the course only got 50% of the possible revenue.  That not very good.

Depends on the course. My wife will do that on out of town trips sometimes. Some places will charge her, others won't.

I don't believe they was any single lurking about. If they was I can see the reasoning.  But if there is an empty seat in the cart seems  a bit much to charge for it.
