Playoff Pick'em Challenge Week 4

January 22, 2013 7:57 am

Well, I'm sure the rest of you are in the same Patriots postseason loss hangover I am... but here are the current standings with the original Super Bowl winner picks, and I've added a twist for the Super Bowl.
  • Bradyard - 14 total wins - Broncos
  • USAFPats - 10 wins - Pats
  • dblake - 9 wins - Pats
  • patsfan4life - 7 wins - Pats
  • redawn - 7 wins - Pats
  • UConn - 6 wins - Pats
  • NHPats - 5 wins - Pats
  • Ken - 3 wins - Pats

As we have all gone bust with our Super Bowl picks, and the title otherwise wrapped up for yours truly, to add a little spice to an otherwise unimportant game for us Patriots fans I've made the executive decision to change the rules to the pick'em challenge.

We will pick the winner of the game, Ravens vs. 49ers, along with the score at the end of each quarter, the final score, AND game MVP.
The points will break down thusly:
  • Q1 -3 scores: Closest to total points gets 1 point. Nail the score exactly, get 3 points.
As an example: For Q1 I predict SF 3, Bal 0. If that is the score, I get 3 points. If the actual scores is Bal 3, SF 0, I would get 1 point.
That will be for the first 3 quarters of the game.
  • Final score: Closest to total points gets 3 points. Nail the score exactly, get 7 points.
As an example: I predict SF 23, Bal 17 as the final score. If that is correct, I would get 7 points. If the actual score is Bal 23, SF 17, I would get 3 points.
  • MVP: Predict the correct winner of the MVP award, and get 10 points.
Phew. Hopefully I can keep this all straight... the points won will be added to the current totals, so everyone is still in it! In the case of a tie on any of the quarter scores, final score, or MVP (where two posters have the same numbers) points will be awarded to both parties.

Playoff Pick'em Challenge Week 4

January 22, 2013 8:03 am

I'll start, so you can all see the format to use.
  • Q1: SF 3  Bal 3
  • Q2: SF 13 Bal 6
  • Q3: SF 16 Bal 13
  • Final Score: SF 23 Bal 20
  • MVP: Michael Crabtree

Remember, for Q1-3, you get 1 point for closest to point total, nail the score and get 3 points.
For final score, closest to point total gets 3 points, nail the score and get 7 points.
Correct MVP and get 10 points.

I'll bump this back up, in case anyone is still interested in finishing off the pick'em challenge despite our Patriots golfing instead of playing.

Playoff Pick'em Challenge Week 4

Maybe I should change this to the 49ers win by default.. right before kick off the NFL tests both sides for deer antler felt spray enough Ravens test positive they can not field a team.  The only way it will be played is if the head coaches suit up and play QB for the respective teams...

this is just a post to bump up and get more activity.

Playoff Pick'em Challenge Week 4

February 4, 2013 11:37 am

In our final tally, Ken gained 3 points for having closest to total scores for Quarter 1, 3, and 4. dblake gained 1 point for having the closest total for Quarter 2.  That leaves me alone at the top still, with the door prize of a large bag of nothing.
In the end only 3 of us participated, depriving us of what could have been an even more exciting game. Maybe the Patriots will join the fun in next year's Super Bowl!

Thanks Bradyard, I really liked the format you chose. Made for an intersting matchup when it didnt matter to me who won or lost.. just saying  but hopefully that was indeed Ray Lewis' last ride.

Playoff Pick'em Challenge Week 4

Bradyard and All,

Apologize for the lack of messages from my end, STILL have not watched or listened to any national sports shows since our boys decided to hit the links in lieu of playing our real national past time.  Watching allot of hockey (Rask is a beast between the pipes), and with Rondo out watching the Celtics play like a team again.

Just wanted to throw my thanks in as well, heart hasn't been in it to check out our Patriot message board until today.

Hope everyone is warm and dry, Mother Nature can be a real *itch when she wants to be.....

As always, and forever:  GO Patriots!!!
