I guess my point is his availability is up in the air, unless he does the unthinkable and has the ability to replicate what Adrian Peterson did, and even then, he is still a rookie.  If we did draft him it would actually set up pretty well for us if he were to sit, we would have a high talent that won't take up a roster spot, his "rookie season" would start when McGahee has one year left and Moreno more than likely will be gone.

Saying that, I think Denver's best interests this year lie with acquiring more talent and depth by gaining more picks because as most of you know, we have alot of guys to resign in the next year or two, all of which are very important in sustaining consistency.

Kylpama...I don't disagree. If he's the same talent that he was pre-injury then it makes sense if he falls far enough.

Still think RB should be lower on the priority list.

Agreed.

I have seen Stephan Taylor from Stanford and Jonathan Franklin from UCLA getting 4th round grades in a couple mock drafts.

If either of those guys are there in that area, I would have no problem with us scooping either of them up.

Go Broncos!

If we are looking to add a RB, there could be a couple of options out there away from the draft. Shonn Greene(27) was awful with the Jets the last 2 seasons but I think a change of scenery could make a huge difference. The Jets offense was anemic at best and I doubt anyone could have looked good behind that line. Add in a joke of a QB and you have a total disaster. Behind the Broncos line and with Peyton, Greene could look more like the talent he was at Iowa. Plus he should come cheap. Another guy who could come cheap is Mendenhall(25). He struggled last year coming off a torn ACL but by next season he should be 100%.

Great thread Master. As most of you know I'm not a big college football guy so I can't add much to the discussion...yet. But now I have a lot of names to google and watch on youtube.

I'll just say that IMO MLB is our #1 need so this Kevin Minter guy sounds like a good fit. DT is also a big need so the Florida guy Shariff sounds good. There is also the DT from Purdue that sounds intriguing...can't think of his name right now.

Early Draft Opinion

February 4, 2013 8:13 am

So I went to midnights last night and I found out very quickly that it can become extremely boring so I decided to come up with a list of free agents, draft trades and finally picks, even though it is way too early to figure out what we will do come the day of free agent signing.

The free agents that I came up with should come fairly cheap and they should be productive for our team.  Note I also included our own free agent signings.

The first player that I chose for our team is Chris Ivory from New Orleans.  I know that he is a RFA but N.O. is well over the salary cap so I don't believe they will be able to tender him.  I think that he will be a inexpensive, young player (25 years old) who can not only add depth to the running back rotation but maybe even replace McGahee in the near future.

The second player that I decided on was Sammie Stroughter.  He is an underated slot receiver (something that we will need) and KR/PR.  He is still young enough to be very effective and underated enough to be a cheap alternative to a Wes Welker like player.

Ryan Clady - need I say more

Chris Clark is another player that I think we'll need to resign, but I believe that he will be replaced through the draft.

Justin Bannan is another one of our players that I think we'll resign.  Saying that, I think we will keep him over Vickerson because he will be cheaper and I think he will set an example for our younger players that we will bring in.

This one is somewhat out of the box, and this guy is Terrance Knighton from Jacksonville.  He has familiarty with Del Rio and he is a very big man that Del Rio likes.  He is a rotational player in Jacksonville but I think that he can be coached up by our defensive staff, again another player that will come fairly cheap because isn't a star player.  Note he is one of Jacksonville's coveted free agents.

Jason Hunter is another player that I think we'll resign.  Remember it wasn't too long ago that he was the designated starter over Wolfe and Ayers.  At 29 Hunter is still young enough to make a contribution and once again I believe that he will come cheap due to his injury last season.  At the very least he will serve as a rotational player who has experience.

Finally, Tony Carter is the last free agent (RFA) that we will sign (our own), although I believe there might be a chance that we lose him and receive a draft pick for him because he played well enough to warrant interest in the league.

Now to the draft portion of my post, remember this is hypothetical but the trades that I made are realistic and could very well happen.  I will explain the reasoning behind them.

I really do believe that we trade both Williams and Moreno, and I think that they will go to the same team.  IMO they could land in Cincinnati, because they have a need, they have the money, and they have the draft picks (alot of extra due to the Carson Palmer trade).  Cincy doesn't have a good backup to the lawfirm and from what I have read Maluaga had a very bad year.  So I believe that we could get a 3 and a 6 for both of them.  Remember they are getting two good players that have experience and are very capable of not only starting for their team but drastically improving their team.

The second trade I made was with Buffalo.  They will have a need for a QB and IMO their 1st pick (8) is way too early for a QB in this draft, but they will have to move up from their 2nd pick because there are so many QB needy teams ahead of them and this will benefit us because everyone knows that if they want to move up they will have to pay for it, we will get their 2 and 3 for them to move up.

The next trade I made (probably the one that isn't as realistic) is with Detroit.  They have a huge need at cornerback this year with only 1 that is signed for next season, so I see them moving up in the end of the 2nd round to get their guy.  We will recieve their 3rd and 5th for this.

Finally, the last trade that I made was with Minnesota.  We will trade Andre Caldwell for their 6th round pick because to be honest with you I don't think that we need him, unlike the Vikings.

To recap what we get:  Cincy trade 86 and 189 (3rd, 6th), Buffalo 42 and 73 (2nd, 3rd), Detroit 67 and 132 (3rd, 5th) and Vikings 168 (8th)

So the picks that I made with all 11 draft picks are:

2 (42) Larry Warford - Guard 6'3" 340

3 (67) Khaseem Greene - ILB 6'0" 236

3 (73) Ryan Swope - Receiver 6'1" 206

3 (86) Brandon Williams - Defensive Tackle 6'1" 341

3 (92) Blidi Wreh-Wilson - Cornerback 6'0" 192

4 (124) Brian Winters - Tackle 6'6" 294

5 (132) Marcus Lattimore - Runningback 6'0" 218

5 (156) Michael Williams - Tightend 6'6" 270

6 (168) Cameron Lawrence - Outside Linebacker 6'3" 230

6 (189) Alec Lemon - Receiver 6'2" 202

7 (220) Theo Riddick 5'11" 200

Hope you like the post..  Lets discuss

Crispy, you are thinking of Kawaan Short.

Also, Arthur Brown from K-State is a possibility for ILB.  He is not as polished as most would like but I think he has a good ceiling for development.

I like the Ryan Swope pick-up, that guy can be a really good slot receiver.  I am not sure about the others, I have not heard of most of them.

If we let Vickerson walk we are going to be hurting for DTs and I am not sure picking one in the draft is going to leave us week in the front 7.

Just making a comment about Te'o.  The guy will never be a leader.  He'll never be able to be the QB of the defense.  Anybody who gets "duped" for 3+ years by a man pretending to be a woman who is apparently your girlfriend that you've never met will never have the respect of his teammates.  Unless he proves himself on the field over the course of years.  And even then still being mocked and laughed at behind your back?  I wouldn't be surprised if this completely derails his NFL career and pushes him out of the league within a few years.
