Offseason 2013

No excuses haha you are funny, you think 2 rookies coming in means Ponder has to produce? Patterson can not run a route he in another Troy Williamson.

There is no AJ Green or CJ in this draft just some raw talent that will take time, most of the class is the classic 3 year project.

Troy Williamson couldn't run a route, couldn't catch a ball to save his life, and didn't have great size. Patterson has the size and hands and athleticsm. Seldom are big receivers great route runners (or necessarily need to be), and very young receivers usually aren't too advanced in that regard. It could be an issue, but you don't get someone perfrect at #23. If you think a A. J. Green or Julio Jones is walking through our door dream on.

I would really like to use the first pick on a great linebacker.   I thnk the Kevin Minter pick would be a good move.  I would hate the Vikes to take Manit Te'o with that pick.  He was garbage that Campionship game and not to mention the fake girlfriend.  We could stil get a good linebacker in the later rounds like: Jon Bostic or Kiko Alonso.

Have you really watched him play? I can't believe if you have you'd be saying this. This kid is a special talent. If he needs a little help with route running which he does, thats what we have coaches for. He is special when the ball is in his hands.

Why gamble on a guy that is so raw?  We could have taken Stephen Hill, Brain Quick, or Tommy Streeter last year if we wanted green vegatables. Look how all that RAW talent turned out.  Patterson played one year of divisoin I ball.  He is not the best WR in this years draft.  Just like with our first pick, take the sure thing.  I feel you should not use your first and second round picks on "what if."  There are no Julio Jones or A.J Greens this year.  We could pick up a guy like Robert Woods who runs great routes and knows how block in the third round.

Why? Because the kid has special skills. Look where Hill, Quick and Streeter went, not fair to compare them to Patterson when they all went to chit teams especially Hill and Streeter. What is a sure thing? There is no sure thing at 23.

Woods won't make it to round 3 and if you watched many USC games you would have seen Woods is a little overrated, he drops alot of passes and isn't much of a deep threat, he will be a good #2 receiver in the NFL, Patterson has the skill set to be a #1

Offseason 2013

Thank God Donald Driver is retiring.

Even though it was likely over anyway, I am glad he isn't running through the Vikings secondary anymore. I am also glad that, even though I didn't believe any of the reports from that Wisconsin TV station anyway, we now know for sure that the Vikings are not interested in a 38 year old receiver and can focus elsewhere.

Great guy, receiver, and it sounds like teammate. Seemed like a class act through and through, and I would have taken him on the Vikings in a heartbeat 10 years ago. That said, Greg Jennings is at that stage of his career. Go get him.

He is the type of receiver that we could keep or trade Percy with. So go get Jennings, sit down with Harvin and have an honest conversation with him about where this team is going and if he wants to be a part of it. If not, then trade him. If he does, then make it clear that his little hissy fits on the sidelines, twitter, or to the media about inhouse stuff won't be tolerated. I would love to have our offensive line (with that, resign Loadholt) with Jennings, Harvin, Rudolph, AD, Wright, and then either Jenkins or Simpson. Ponder would have all talent he needs to work with.

Also, trade Gerhart. I like the guy and his talents, but I really wish we could have never traded up for him, and just used the second and third round pick we had that year. We aren't going to get that back for him, but if we could get a third or fourth, I would be really happy. He has the talent to be a starting back or a great compliment to a Darren Sproles type back.

Extend Jared Allen. Restructure the deal so that he isn't eating up so much cap, but give him another long-term deal. I really like the talent we have at defensive end. But we could add some more... Ray Edwards is available! Okay that was obviously a joke. No more defensive ends, work on extending Allen. Griffen and Robison are both heading into the last year of their deals too, so they may need to be addressed. I want to keep all three.

I think that resigning Loadholt and Felton are big priorities. Restructing/extending Jared Allen and Chris Cook should be priorities. Settling Harvin's situation is also a need. Either get him on the same page as the team and resign him or trade him. It needs to be dealth with this offseason.

Da'Rick Rogers will be the best value and the steal of the draft it better be us that gets him. So what he smoked a little grass big deal, we are in a position to take a chance on a player and hope are coaches can do there job.

A good coach will get the best out of this kid and I think Frazier can do it

Not even the fact that he could catch the ball while getting hit by both Winfield and Smith at the same time.

He is a little old, but he is a great possession receiver and would compliment Harvin pretty well. He has definitely had big season before, and he knows how to make plays. Tough as nails too. Didn't he break his jaw quite a while back, but he just wired it shut and played the next week?

Alot of stuff I read the last 2 days points to Patterson rising up the board and now a possible top 12 pick and I even seen once he was mocked at #8 to Buffalo, looks like it's just more than a couple of us Vikings fans that are high on this kid.
