A decent running game would help though, Master. Something that wears down a D-line so that come the 4th quarter all we have to do is watch our RB's chew up massive amounts of field and time, giving Manning easy pickings for when he decides it's time to pass.
We don't need a running game for that. We just need first downs. Manning can do that.
And yet on 2nd and 2 and 3rd and 1 during overtime against the Ravens, Manning didn't pass and the running game didn't pick up the 1st down.
That being said, I think Hester is a great short yardage back. When I found out that Denver signed him, I thought it was a great pick up. I loved him at LSU. I felt the same about Holliday, to be honest. I couldn't believe Denver was able to get such a dynamic return man. If McGahee isn't available to use next season, I would have no problem with Hester being in the rotation and being the man in short yardage situations.
Not yet Morph. He's got a player option he needs to decline 1st. Most likely they will be working on a deal up till the deadline which is in mid march.
The agent for Steven Jackson says his client has yet to decide whether to accept or decline his $7 million player option for 2013.
Jackson technically isn't a free agent; it's just been long assumed he'd decline the option. "He hasn’t made any final decision on that," said agent Eugene Parker. "There’s no urgency. The season just got over. So there hasn’t been any discussion with the Rams on the future." Jackson has until March 12 -- the first day of free agency -- to decline or exercise the option. Said S-Jax, "I believe we’ll get everything resolved before March." Jan 20 - 8:30 PM
I agree. I'd love to have him if he became available. Also, Ahmad Bradshaw was released today. He could be worth a look. I know he's had some foor issues and just had a screw replaced but the guy plays hurt and is still productive. When healthy he's a beast.
But Bradshaw missed a lot of playing time the last few years with injuries. If healthy, he is a bruising downhill runner, but I don't know if he can stay healthy. Giants released him for a reason.
He's had some foot issues but only missed 2 games last year. When he needs to play he plays, hurt or not, which is why I like the guy. I think the Giants would have liked to keep him but they need cap relief and they drafted David Wilson high who they like. For the right price, I think Bradshaw would be a nice 1-2 punch with Hillman assuming McGahee is not the same player as he's been in previous years.
