Who do you expect to win the Stanley Cup?

On its NHL home page, CBSSports.com posted a 6-team poll of popular favorites to win the Stanley Cup.  Since 5 of those 6 teams aren't even in the top 8 (i.e. 7 points or more) in the NHL right now, I created the following poll.  

Based on what you've seen so far, who do you EXPECT (not WANT) to win the Stanley Cup?

and no, that is not in response to my team who i currently playing craptacular. I'm not THAT big of a homer.  

On your list only three of those teams have a legit chance IMO. Pittsburgh, Chicago and Boston. The Blues and Sharks are definitely playoff teams, but are not on the same tier. The Lightning are a hard team to disect. They can light you up (no pun intended) as they did to the Flyers on Sunday. But they are very inconsistent. Sens had a great year last year, they might be able to repeat it, but in the end are not a legit contender.

And the Jets.... Well, I don't know what to say about them. I don't see them being a playoff team, period.

FFF, not sure how you don't think St Louis is a legit contender.  I think they, along with the hawks, are probably the best team in the west, if not the entire league.  granted it's only been 5-6 games, but i don't think there's a team in teh east who could go 7 games with chicago or st louis, other than MAYBE boston (or the Rangers if they pull thier heads otu of their butts)

Yeah, you're right, the Blues are pretty solid. I guess I am just basing it on their showing last postseason, which I shouldn't, the Kings were just unreal. Not sold on the Sharks though, they certainly have proven they cannot win in the playoffs.

St Louis is certainly a contender, but yeah the additions of the Lightning, Jets and Sens are a huge stretch.


As much as I hate them and they started a little slower than expected, the Rangers gotta be here.

i'm not gonna say this is the stupidest poll i've ever seen on CBS, as it's got plenty of competition - but wow.

The Blackhawks and Bruins from what I have seen so far.

I'm going to be a homer and say watch our for the Hurricanes.  Semin and Eric Staal are starting to gel and Jordon and Skinner are doing the same,  The biggest question for me about the Hurricanes is can  we get any scoring from our 3rd line.  I'm not too worried about Cam and Ellis looks like he will be able to adequately give Cam some rest going into the playoffs. 

Ruutu out has hurt the 3rd line big time.  He and Jussi together would have given us a line that could score but as it stands we are relying on rookies and that may be our downfall. 

From what I've seen, I like Tampa Bay, but can St. Louis keep up the pace in this compact schedule and will the goaltending hold up?

Boston looked really good last night, but I think speed teams can hurt them.  Pittsburgh wasn't very impressive the other night against Ottawa.  As for the West I haven't seen any of them play so I'll hold judgement.

Matty, right now the way Cam is playing, I'm going to be happy if he gets his GAA below 3 before the playoffs.  As long as he performs in the playoffs, that is all that counts. 

I agree with Fizzle, sorry i missed his new name.
